1. Are you named after anyone? I'm not actually sure where my name came from, just that it's French (Chelle is a nickname) and I've got some french heritage like 200 years back or something, but my middle name is my grandmother's name.

2. When was the last time you cried? Like two hours ago rewatching the twilight series (Seth's not-death will always make me so sad) - or my last proper cry was yesterday watching Space Babies (Thanks RTD)

3. Do you have kids? HA No.

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot? Yes, but not so much online, I find I'm way more sweet and flowery on here.

5. What sports do you play/have you played? Netball for nearly 10 years, tee-ball when I was a kid, and I played futsal for a spell when I was in year 5

6. What’s the first thing you notice about other people? Their teeth (it's terrible I hate it) and how they engage in conversation - if they cut others off or ask questions etc.

7. Scary movies or happy endings? Happy endings all the way, I love a good brain off viewing and a cry.

8. Any special talents? Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I can do weird bodily things that alot of people are supposed to not be able to like unfocusing my eyes and thunder ears, hyperextending my thumbs etc etc.

9. Where were you born? About 4ks from where I currently live (which is sad to think about if you ask me)

10. What are your hobbies? Knitting, crocheting, yapping, thinking about writing, buying books I will likely not read.

11. Do you have any pets? I've recently adopted a stray and her kittens (only 1 left bc I've rehomed the other 2 this week) and she has another litter on the way. (If anyone wants a cat HMU)

12. All-time favourite piece of media? I am just a simple woman - Pride and Prejudice 2005

13. Fave subject in school? Legal studies - it's like listening to a true crime podcast but you're talking to other people instead of yourself.

14. Dream job? Trophy wife? Deity? No job at all? Or at least anything where I'm not on my feet 40 hours a week talking to the most ignorant people in Sydney and worrying about being assaulted by teenage girls lmao

15. Eye colour? My best friend once described it as hazel that turns more green in the sun, with specs of gold and honey through and honestly at that moment I wondered if he had been reading James Potter fanfiction bc how many times have we all read that description?

1. How many works do you have on ao3 (or masterlist)? twelve total published!! but a hell of a lot more rotting in my google drive and three-ring binders haha

3. What fandoms do you write for? currently, resident evil and house of the dragon. in the past i've written for overwatch, fortnite, and warrior cats. i'd love to do some silent hill stuff, too!

All time favorite ship? canon/canon or oc/canon? let's see,, c/c, serrenedy (leon s. kennedy x luis serra). i mean, with a ship name like that, who can resist? i'd say willsker (william birkin x albert wesker) but. um. i've got other uses for william birkin. i also love weskennedy (albert wesker x leon s. kennedy) for. other reasons. oc/canon, i'm definitely biased but finn x will LMAOO not that they're good together or all that compatible but they're both awful and should never date anyone ever except for each other. exception being that time finn married larys strong in asoiaf and they were also perfectly awful for each other.

15. What’s a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will? not saying, crossing my fingers, doubting its completion will only bring that to fruition!!

16. What are your writing strengths? my partner tells me he likes my dialogue and that it feels realistic, and i like to think that i'm good with descriptions, setting scenes, etc. there's a particular action scene in my resident evil longfic that i'm very proud of, and lots of visceral descriptions of gore that i think are done really well!

17. What are your writing weaknesses? i'm not sure,, i definitely procrastinate a lot, and i'm really bad at taking criticism. trying to do better but i'm just so sensitive akjbsdkjbfksdj

18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language? i mean, sure!! i'm a little iffy sometimes because translators can be whacky, but i'll either around, check reddit, etc. little phrases i don't mind. usually i just put the phrase in italics and mention them saying it in said language.

19. First fandom you wrote in? it was either warrior cats or supernatural! i think it was maybe even a supernatural/elder scrolls crossover? i remember toiling away in my digital art class, writing in the tiniest text i could because i was embarrassed haha

20. Favorite fic you’ve written? of the ones published? woof. um. i honestly have no idea. that's like picking a favorite child lol.

1. are you named after anyone?

I am accidentally named after my great-gran, my mum picked out the name Emma because she liked it and forgot it was my great-gran's legal name because everyone called her Bet. My parents only realised when they told her and she was really happy about it, they never let her know it was an accident.

2. when was the last time you cried?

Last night because a sad song came on during insomnia hours. There wasn't even that much to be sad about.

3. do you have kids?

No, perhaps in the future though.

4. do you use sarcasm a lot?

No more than your average Brit.

5. what sports do you play/have you played?

I'm unbelievably shit at every sport I've ever attempted due to disabilty reasons. I am average at swimming though because I was in hydrotherapy to treat my dyspraxia from the age of about 1 to 5. I could swim before I could walk, which sounds impressive until you find out I was almost 3 before I started walking.

6. what’s the first thing you notice about other people?

I usually notice pretty quickly if I'm talking to another autistic person. I thought this was an ability everyone had because our body language is very distinctive, but the neurotypical people in my family seem to think it's some sort of talent. I also have a sixth sense for family drama. Neither of these abilities are particularly useful when you first meet someone though.

7. scary movies or happy endings?

I'm going to be honest I don't watch many movies, I have to watch them with someone else there to talk to. There are a couple of horror movies I keep telling myself I'll watch but probably never will. In terms of movies I've watched the most it's probably Lord of the Rings, which does have a happy ending, but idk if that counts because I think Peter Jackson messed up the bittersweet tone of the book endings by omitting the Scouring of the Shire and the context for why the elves are leaving for Valinor.

8. any special talents?

Other than the ability to ramble incessantly, no.

9. where were you born?

England.

10. what are your hobbies?

Videogames in general, other than the sims I've currently been playing a lot of Darkest Dungeon II. The fact my DSA laptop is a potato is probably saving me from some sort of gaming addiction. I'm attempting to learn to draw currently but so far that's been too stressful to really count as a hobby. When my brain is less fried I enjoy reading.

11. do you have any pets?

Yes, we adopted a pair of bonded rescue cats this November, they are called Annie and Phoebe. We also have a tortoise that is either Hermes or Hermione (she was too young to be sexed pre-COVID, we couldn't travel to our nearest exotic vet during COVID, and then a bunch of life stuff happened so we still don't know).

12. how tall are you?

5"4, I'm somehow the tallest woman in my family though because my Nan passed on the "stop growing at 11" genes to everyone.

13. fave subject in school?

A tie between English and History. It would have been History if it wasn't for the fact all my male History teachers were massive dickheads for no reason.

14. dream job?

Used to be archaeology, but I had to leave uni due to health issues this year so idk if I'll actually end up doing that any time soon.

15. eye colour?

Green.

f - favorite song: How can I just pick one song? Achilles come down from Gang of Youths imeditaly comes to mind, and Hozier's Diner and Diatrides and Vienna by Billy Joel.

g - grossest memory: eh... I don't wish to trigger my friends with emetophobia.

h -horror yes or horror no: Yes horror. My current blog icon is Carrie even. Horror is my absolute favorite genre. I think, when done right, it can be used to explore a lot of societal commontary. It's a genre in which anything can happen, such a playground!

i -in love?: Very much so with my two wonderful partners <3.

j - jealous of people?: Not jealous but more envy. in a sense that I might want what something (like owning a house, a better job etc.) Never in a way that I want something and therefore think someone else doesn’t deserve it. I feel like that’s healthy.

m - middle name: Don’t have one, maybe if I ever legally change my name I will get one?

t -time you woke up: at 8:15, snoozed til 9:00 and then I decided nope, went back to bed til noon.

v - vacation destination: I have two seperate trips to London plannend. I have already been to London this year. I keep going to London. Why do I keep going to London?

w -worst habit: I'll just say it, I'm bad with money. Which is bad because I have a job and I have acces to adult money. On the brightside, I have to coolest wardrobe.

x - x-rays: Broke my knee 3 years ago. I have a beautiful X-ray and even a 3D model of that masterpiece :). No I haven't recoverd and I probably never walk normally again. :( (chronic pain gain, rise up)

y - your favorite food: I think sushi is overrated, and yet it is sushi.

z - zodiac sign: I'm a June Gemini with Scorpio rising. If I believed in astrology, I think this would explain a lot about me.

1. Are you named after anyone?

Yeah. I was named after Katharine Hepburn. My middle name comes from my great grandma Gertrude's maiden name, and I'm planning to legally change my first name to my great grandfather's once I get the money and paperwork together.

2. When was the last time you cried?

Ooooh fuck, I cry a lot tbh. Last seriously bad cry was probably 3 weeks ago? It was around the time I left my job, it was super stressful. Since then, I think I cried most recently a little over a week ago. April 29th marked one year since we had to put our older dog down.

3. Do you have kids?

No! Thank god. I love kids, but only in small doses. I have a little sister who's 7 who I love to absolute death, but after a week visiting her, I feel like I need to just lay in a quiet dark room for a week straight.

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?

I exaggerate and use hyperbole more than I use sarcasm. Like I use it occasionally, but when I'm going for comedic effect I tend to use the other tools in my arsenal.

5. What sports have you played?

I'm gonna be real, I have never been a sports girlie. If ballet counts, I did ballet when I was little.

6. What’s the first thing you notice about someone?

Hair and clothes. I guess, style in general. I'm decently faceblind, so faces don't tend to register much unless they're pretty distinctive. I'm very much a person that'll notice what you're wearing and stop to give you a compliment if I like it.

7. Eye Color?

Blue, but specifically, blue enough that I made having blue eyes part of my personality when I was younger

8. Scary movies or happy endings?

I like scary movies, but only as long as they have a happy ending. I don't like any movies that end where everyone's miserable and everything's shitty and sad.

9. Any special talents?

Uhmmmm, not really? Like, there's not really anything I can think of off the top of my head.

10. Where were you born?

I was born in a decent sized city in the Southeast US. I still live there, and it's not too bad a place to live, but as soon as you leave the city and surrounding suburbs shit gets real rural and real conservative, real quick.

11. What are your hobbies?

Honestly, I fly through hobbies like nobodies business, I have ADHD, so I tend to hyperfocus and then get bored really quickly. The majority of my hobbies tend to be crafty stuff, but hiking and other outdoorsy stuff is another thing I love. Fashion and style and design stuff is a big passion of mine. Right now, I've been locked in on houseplants and stuff related to them. I have maybe 20(?) or so, and I also have terrariums, and a planted aquarium.

12. Do you have any pets?

Yes! I have my sweet little Persie dog(follow us on @pomegranatepup), and I also have aquatic snails right now. I feel like all the plants I have should also count as having pets, but whatever.

13. How tall are you?

5'6"! I always try and lie and say I'm taller than that, but I'm really, really not. I'm mad about it because I feel like I definitely had the potential to be taller than I am.

14. Fave subject in school?

English! I was one of those gay bitches that'd be obsessed with their english teachers. My english teachers would have to give me advanced material because I'd finish and get bored so quickly with the english assignments we were given. I was also constantly reading books in class and getting in trouble for it. I know it's not the question, but my least favorite had to have been math, I failed algebra 1 like 3 times. Kind of embarassing, but I had undiagnosed dyscalcula, so whatever...

15. Dream job?

Right now, I want to someday open and run my own bakery or cafe, maybe a coffee shop. My current plan is to go to culinary school for pastry arts and go from there. I've been working as a baker for the past 4 years or so. Honestly, my real dream job is being a worthless layabout. If someone handed me 10 million dollars today, that would be amazing.

I am once again thinking about how unfortunate it is that the Bible was presented as this thing that is basically unpenetrable for so many when it's actually pretty relatable. Like a lot of people have tried but they tried to do so under a certain lens. I find it much easier if you take religion out of it and just view it as people being people

It's a small part of the main story, but The Makeup Remover is currently addressing fatphobia.

One of the major supporting characters is a conventionality attractive makeup artist. She's the only one on a large competition show to compete without a partner, and she's very popular on Instagram.

She's been very supportive of the main character, for the most part. They've defended each other from predatory guys. She takes no shit.

She's also aggressively fatphobic towards another contestant for no reason.

I think the comic handles it like this:

'Here is this character. Here is how they feel about this situation. Here is their good and bad.

Now we are going to explore the ethics of this situation.'

It's lovely, actually. They provide enough backstory for the fat lady for you to understand her as a character. They establish her relationship with her makeup artist. They establish her relationship with her fatness. They tell you how she's come to terms with it.

See, the conventionally attractive model thought she had a groundbreaking idea. She thought she would challenge everyone's conceptions of beauty. She thought she would blow everyone away.

The fat person didn't say it in so many words, but their presentation was like,

'Oh? You think you know what it's like to challenge beauty standards?

I've been living it for years. You didn't think of it till yesterday.'

It's not just, 'Oh, the fat person was better than the skinny person.'

It's 'You were wrong to say that, you had the wrong idea about her, you had the wrong idea about fatness, and she is going to blow you out of the water because her makeup artist is better than you.'

I think it's neat.

The green party candidate for Texas governor seems to be a latina native woman named Delilah Barrios who's protested pipelines.

She supports:

medicare for all

basic income

equality for the LGBTQIA community

2nd amendment rights (you might balk but this might make her a more successful candidate in Texas)

power to the people (unions? She says she supports strikes

reproductive rights

Land back, the red deal, and addressing the climat crisis

Regulation of the oil and gas industry

Criminal justice reform

And marijuana legalization.

She's running against Greg Abbott.

Getting a green party member into office is generally a pipe dream, but we have until 2022. If people make enough noise, she MIGHT have a chance.

...I say might because I like hope along with my realism and the internet can pick up speed real quick. You never know.

Beto O'Rourke is also running. I'd like either of them in charge a lot more than Abbott. Beto might have a better chance of winning because he's already well recognized, and he almost won the last election he ran in for a Texas position-- Cruz beat him by like 2%.

(The percentages are 50.9% for Cruz, 48.3% for Beto, and .8% for Neal Dikeman.)

Honestly, I'd love to support this lady, but supporting Beto probably makes more sense. Keeping Abbott in office has killed people.

Beto doesn't seem to have his policies on his website the way that Delilah does. It's... Disappointing. I found an article and I'm just gonna leave it here.

If you weren't in Texas for the last state election: Beto galvanized a ton of people into hoping things could change for the better. He was asked to run for president because people loved him.

I think I would prefer Delilah, but Beto is a damn good candidate.

Someone else wrote up a pretty good summary of the other candidates currently in the running.

...I would prefer to choose between Delilah and Beto.

My fiancee and I are doing some research on health insurance. What is the best kind to by? What should we be looking for? I take lexapro and birth control everyday. We are nonsmokers, full-time college students and fairly young. I'm about to turn 19 and he will be 20. How much should we expect to pay for health insurance? Can we still be on our parents health insurance after we get married? Anything would be great! We would love to have a plan that has good coverage.
