#mine #personal #cooking #so #so! #i'm reading this recipe that says to use a tin of 'whole peeled tomatoes that you've crushed with your hands' #i go 'feels like that could just be a tin of chopped tomatoes but sure' #but. but! every tin of chopped tomatoes i've ever bought had the tomatoes in tomato juice that made the whole thing so watery #these whole tomatoes were in tomato puree instead! this tomato sauce i made with them was so rich and nice #and now i'm very excited to use these in bolognese and chilli and so on #(tomato puree as in like tomato sauce. not the concentrated stuff that comes in a tube) #but honestly the best part was crushing the tomatoes #you get to stick your hand into a bowl of red stuff and fish for slippery objects and squeeze them #which i think satisfies some sort of deep-seated feral urge
