it’s majorly bothering me that Harley’s bisexuality is kinda erased in the movies. like, she was confirmed in an animated opening scene for three seconds? I wish we’d see her being openly bi like in the comics, where she’s flirting and calling all types of people hot. it feels like corporate cashgrabbing, like they think Harley being openly bi will make them lose money. like I have no issue with her being involved with as many dudes as she wants! but I wish we’d get a bit more cute moments with Harley and other women.

I completely get whatcha mean, though I will mention that just because a character doesn't say their sexuality every single appearance they have, doesn't mean that they're not still that sexuality.

I wouldn't say they're erasing Harley's bisexuality, Harley is bi that's not going anywhere nor is it something changeable or erasable about her.

I'd say they're (Gunn and Ayer) more ignoring it tbh.

I'm super hopeful for her next film that we'll get her flirting with women and stuff, since she should be free (from like Belle Reve skdjskks) and she's at her most confident, independent self atm. I'm really, really fucking hoping we have a woman in charge of that movie...

Though I do feel like she wasn't really in the right mindset in Birds of Prey for any sort of healthy flirtatious relationship, I do really wish they'd not cut this out of the script and let there be more casual references to her bisexuality.

But I think for SS / TSS, there's also the overall issue of

1. Harley being one of the only women on the team. There isn't exactly many ladies around for her to flirt with, it's Katana (SS) and Rat Catcher 2 (TSS) and she didn't even talk to Rat Catcher 2 😭

2. knowing how Ayer treated her sexualization wise, I'm very glad he didn't have her flirt with Katana cause it'd 100% been for the men in the audience, not the LGBT viewers.

He'd be doing it because it was hot, not because she's bisexual.

Same with Gunn, considering his history with homophobic and sexist comments, I'd rather keep him away from her LGBT related storylines.

For me personally at least, I'd frankly rather them not give us Harley with women on screen at all if they're not going to do it justice tbh.

I don't want a live action Harlivy movie that's just for the male gaze. I don't want a GCS film that's just full of sexualized camera angles and fetishized Porn Like make out scenes.

Like I won't mind if we get a good movie that treats the storyline well and not as something for dudes to jack off to, that also happens to have more explicit scenes, but there's a huge difference and knowing DC...

Well, I don't feel confident that they care enough about their LGBT viewers to ensure it's a good movie that treats the characters like people rather than sex objects, ya know?
