Kana (F)
Tumblr media
Overview
Female Kana is an infantry green dragon unit and a pretty good one at that. Her stats are very balanced, with nothing being pitiful. With 30/34 atk/spd, she is not the fastest or the hardest hitting dragon on the market, but she still does some good damage, especially with buffs. Her defenses are also pretty decent at 33/26. These are boosted even further if you keep her Water Breath that gives her +4 def/res against ranged units. Basically, Distant Def 2 built into her weapon. She’s just really a good unit no matter how you look at her.
Pros/Cons
+ Good offenses, potentially a very speedy dragon girl
+ Good mixed defenses
- Very very weak to Falchion users
- Arguably outclassed by other green dragons like Myrrh and MGrima
Similar Units
Poor Fae probably got booted off of a lot of dragon emblem teams when Kana came out. She performs better than Fae is pretty much every way. She has higher spd (Fae has a sad 28) and better def (25 vs Kana’s 33). Fae also has a pretty useless weapon nowadays, Light Breath, so she requires heavy investment to be viable for many teams. The biggest perk that Fae has is her easy accessibility. Available at 3*/4* means you can hunt for the IVs you want and easily merge to +10. Currently, Kana is locked behind her 5* status so unless you’re a whale, you’re unlikely to get a +10 FKana.
On the other side of the spectrum, you have probably my favorite unit in the game: Myrrh. Myrrh has bad speed, let’s get that out of the way. It’s stuck at 25 neutral. However, her weapon, Great Flame, denies follow-ups from units who have less defense than she does. And boy does Myrrh have a lot of defense at 36 neutrally. With Quick Riposte, she’s doubling anyone who comes at her while avoiding getting doubled back which makes her a formidable enemy phase unit. With her low spd, however, she’s going to struggle to kill on player phase and that’s where FKana shines. With her high spd, FKana can be pretty effective on either phase. Myrrh, I would say, just barely wins out here though because she is a flier and with Iote’s Shield, she gets all the perks without any of the drawbacks. If you don’t like enemy phase units though, please go for FKana because you’ll appreciate her ability to perform offensively a lot more.
Team Options
Dragon Emblem! She’ll tank those Reins for your Tikis.
If not that, then she can function as a good mixed tank on most teams. She can take care of green and blue units alike (except Julia and Deirdre because of their effectiveness against dragons). She really super fears any Falchion users and generally just any sword units are gonna cause her trouble. Having someone like Hardin or Brave Hector to tank and murder those pesky Falchion users will be good for her. Or, anyone who can run up and kill them first (rein...) is also a good option.
IVS
+Spd is optimal to get her to 37 spd which is enough to deny followups from anyone with spd up to 41 which is going to be a lot of units. +Atk is a second great option to boost her middling atk to a more respectable 33.
This is where it gets confusing though... +Res and +Def are also not bad options in FKana’s case. If you want her to be primarily a mixed tank, go with +Res, get the superBOON and get her up to 30 res naturally. If you’re more worried about physical threats, +def is a better option to get her to 36 defense.
HP is best dropped but if you don’t have that option, -def would be second best drop. You don’t want to lose her 26 res and drop to 23, and you definitely don’t want to lose spd or atk.
A neutral FKana is also totally viable without messing in her superboons and banes (HP and ATK are superBANEs, RES is a superBOON).
Builds
Dratini
Weapon: Water Breath+ (Spd ref)
Assist: Reposition
Special: Moonbow
A: Fury 3, Steady Breath
B: Quick Riposte 3, Guard 3
C: Goad Dragons is good but it’s up to you
Seal: Close Def works well but Distant Def can save her from a few magic hits
If you’re going budget but still want a great girl, this is the set for you. With the Spd ref, even without a +spd nature she’ll hit 37 spd (40 with +spd) and then with Fury, she gets to 43 which is amazing without merges or buffs. If you want to give her a little more bulk. take Steady Breath for the def and the special charge. Quick Riposte might seem stupid with 43 spd, but it can help her take out a few units who are speedier than her. If you still aren’t convinced, and that’s fine, you can go Guard to avoid some specials that could nuke her. IF you are not going in arena against ridiculous spd units, you can probably drop QR and go Guard instead.
Dragonair
Weapon: Lightning Breath+ (Spd ref)
Assist: Reposition
Special: Aether, Bonfire
A: Steady Breath
B: Quick Riposte 3, Chill Spd 3
C: Again, Goad Dragons is good but only with another dragon or 3
Seal: Distant Def probably better for those mage matchups but you can also slap QR3 here
With more investment...considerably more... she can be a typical whale build of a dragon. This is not necessary at all, but if you want something that can counterattack and take a lot of damage, this is a good choice. Lightning Breath gives her DC without losing a Hector, Aether is good for surviving longer but Bonfire will do more damage overall. Chill Spd can help her debuff the speedy units and then either double them or avoid doubles from them.
