T u v!
T: Any fandom tropes you can’t stand?
i had to think about this one, because i am a sucker for most tropes, but - i’m not a huge fan of fics where arya returns to storm’s end with a baby/child, without telling gendry first. unless circumstances 100% prevented it, i just have a tough time believing that she wouldn’t send a raven immediately/as soon as she could. i don’t subscribe to most of her characterization in season 8, so i do believe that she talked to gendry before she left for her sea voyage, and i struggle to picture her giving birth and not trying desperately to make sure he knew - especially knowing how he feels about his own parentage/background.
U: A pairing you might like to write for, but haven’t tried yet.
honestly, outside of the ASOIAF universe, none come to mind at the moment!
gendrya is the hardest i’ve shipped a fictional couple in my entire life. no other pairing has ever inspired me to write as much as they have, and i think it’s because i see so much of myself in arya, so it’s really seamless for me to use personal feelings and experience in the writing process. i’m a big supporter of a bunch of other pairings (both ASOIAF and not), but i’ve not connected to any one character like i have to arya, so i don’t feel super moved to try writing any of them.
that could change, though! right now, my muse is just screaming “NICE THOUGH, A NICE OAK TREE” on a loop in my head, so 🤷‍♀️
V: A secondary (or underrated) character you want to see more of in fic?
i’ll answer this in the context of gendrya fics, specifically - bran and rickon!! i think arya’s relationships with her little brothers are incredibly rich and fascinating. maybe it’s because i have a little brother that i would die for, but i would love to see more fics (particularly modern ones) that dive deeper into arya’s role as an older sister.
