so the other day i was walking around exploring my floor (i live in the dorms at my school) and i saw someone’s whiteboard outside their room and they had drawn a little fish on it and they had an arrow pointing the fish that said “this is my fish” and the fish had a little speech bubble that said “hello!” so of course I drew a silly little coelacanth on their board with a little arrow that said “this is MY fish (a coelacanth :) )” and the coelacanth was saying “¡hola!”

(i sadly did not take a picture of the original fish doodles. rip)

but i went back after forgetting about it for like two days AND LOOK WHAT THEY DREW

(don't mind me censoring the names + room numbers people wrote on the board)

AN AWESOME BIG COELACANTH!!!

and they left a note asking who did my coelacanth so i left a new note saying I loved their coelacanth drawing and telling them my room number and to come say hi!

so maybe i have some new friends who also like fish!!!

i will keep you updated on the fish whiteboard saga :)

getting emotional over footage of an amateur scuba diver interacting with a coelacanth. they are hunted by large deepwater predators, and here comes a large creature bearing the brightest lights it's ever seen, making strange noises, but it does not shy away. it hovers, calmly, as the diver reaches out and trails a hand down its back. im strongly against the anthropomorphizing of real life animals but the stupid emotional part of me loudly insists this is because it recognizes us, the alternating movements of its four paired limbs matching the diver's four paired limbs, & it is thinking, "hello, cousins, we missed you these 66 million years, it's so good to see you again. welcome back, welcome home."

I feel like none of my followers are gonna understand this but I don't care I wanna talk about Endless Ocean

Endless Ocean: Blue World is such a sad game for me personally because you spend the entire game looking for an ancient ruin and then you finally go into the ancient ruin where there is an entire room filled with coelacanths, but then the whole place gets closed off and you gotta wait forever to reopen it because it costs so much money, so I'm basically blocked off from seeing my favorite animal for a really long time unless I put it in the aquarium
