every other day i make this post on twitter so now the tumblrinas get it. i greatly prefer the original evangelion series to the eva rebuilds and my main reason is because the rebuilds were too afraid to make asuka genuinely bitchy and not like, tsundere rude.

#I MEAN THIS SO AFFECTIONATELY #i loooooooove asuka in the original series i love her bratty trauma #i love how shes a foil to shinji in that he wants to be taken care of and she wants to be independent #i love that people straight up dont like her because she is mean to them! #i cant name anything specifically but rebuild asuka feels more tropey tsundere to me #mostly in the first two movies i think in 3.33 she gets some good moments #like her dragging shinji along after kaworu explodes #but asuka in the original is so dear to me #idk theres just something abt being sympathetic to traumatized characters even when they express that trauma in ugly or unpalatable ways #and she just feels a lil too cute to me in the rebuilds #i do know some people who really prefer her in the rebuilds for this exact reason but yanno to each their own #also rei ALSO feels like she got sanded down to be more palatable but thats a whole other rant #(i gotta do like a reiwatch because rei hits SO many tropes i love but shes never really hit for me for some reason) #posts by me #ALSO ANNO WHAT WAS WITH THAT FUCKING.
