Dear Fucking Copyright Gods, What Am I Doing Wrong?
Me: *draws some Steven Universe art* Heck that'd be a good sticker/poster!
Me: *posts it to redbubble*
Redbubble: uh...whomst the fuck? *sends me an email stating that Cartoon Nerwork/ Adult Swim is reveiwing my work and it may or may not be taken down permanently, but deliberation will take weeks.*
Me: *cries inside*
ONE WEEK LATER, STILL IN THE DELIBERATION PROCESS
Me: *checks my email* Oh, an email from Redbubble! Maybe they've decided my fate?
The Email: dO YOU LIKE STEVEN UNIVERSE? HERE'S A PROMO CODE TO GET 20% OFF. *proceeds to show a shitton of redbubble Steven Universe merch*
What did I do? Did I miss a tag or something? I mean, at least, they're not cutthroat like Disney, where you post something vaguely like Captain America and Tony Stark kissing and they crucify your art and tell you to never post it again.
But just.....why? I just wanna make money off my art. I need to make money I'm broke and I can't pay my rent and I've applied to 30 different places without a single callback, despite me being eager and bugging them on the phone.

OPINION: People Really Hated 'Olaf's Frozen Adventure' that Debuted Before 'Coco' - I Didn't
Here’s the thing, everyone that’s complaining about being forced to see ‘Olaf’s Frozen Adventure’ is missing the point. To begin with, nobody forced you to sit there and watch the 20 some minute short that played before Coco. You could have very easily left the theater if it really offended you that much. Also, Pixar almost always has some sort of short that plays before the film. Unless this was your first Pixar movie you should have been expecting this. Not to mention, there was promo galore promoting the fact that this new theatrical short would be playing before ‘Coco.’ Just walking through the theater you probably saw posters for it. So don’t sit there and say you were “blind sided” by having to watch this short. So using the excuse “I was forced to watch something and I didn’t know it was going to be there” is total crap.
When I say people hated the short, I really do mean it. Check out some of these terrible Tweets:
Lady just walked out of the theater to make sure shes in Coco and not Olaf. This is not an animated short this is an animated test of patience.

20 mins of trailers + OLAF’S FROZEN ADVENTURE + a COCO filmmaker intro?? Disney, please… pic.twitter.com/Ku4I92hp8P

The problem with the Frozen short before #COCO is that it isn’t a Frozen short, it’s an Olaf short, and nobody likes Olaf. If you think you do, you are wrong.

The FROZEN short before COCO unforgivably stretches the definition of “short.”
— AADowd (@AADowd) November 25, 2017
Let’s break down a few of these Tweets. To the person now complaining about the film maker intro and the short, why are you now offended that the people who spent years creating this beautiful work of art want to introduce their own film? I think they have the right to do so. Also, the fact that 20 minutes of trailers played before your film isn’t on Disney, that’s on whatever theater you went to so take that up with them. My local theater played about 5 minutes of trailers before the Frozen short started.
To the person that said nobody likes Olaf, tell that to the millions of children around the world who saw the movie multiple times in theaters and purchased Olaf merchandise making it the highest grossing animated feature film of ALL TIME. It’s also not just an Olaf short. Almost every other main character from Frozen was also featured. Nice try though!
I do however agree with the last tweet about stretching the definition of short. Since the theatrical short was originally supposed to debut on ABC this holiday season, it has a 21 minute run time. That’s about double what the average run time is for other Pixar shorts. The short is also formatted for television, which is why it looked so terrible in theaters. I would have chosen to debut the short on television as well, but my point in all of this is WHO CARES?! Are you really so offended by a Frozen short playing before a new Pixar film that you feel the need to Tweet about it constantly and threaten to boycott the film?
I get it, it’s long. But it’s not that bad. I had a little girl sitting next to me with the biggest smile on her face as Olaf entered the screen for the first time. To most little kids, this was just another way to experience their favorite characters! I guess people just need to ‘let it go.’
