penig replied to Teaser? Not exactly, but while my game would not...
Your muse is so labor-intensive! But I look forward to the next installment. What exactly is your game doing to you, anyway?
Ha, ha! I think you’re right about that; pulling everything together the way I want it definitely involves some work - and that particular pose is not the most labour-intensive bit of customisation for that scene. I’m sure I’ve said this before but learning to pose is easily both the best and worst thing to happen to my gameplay. Resisting the urge to fiddle and tweak things to my liking, when I can, is really hard. But all of that is the fun part! I get so freakin’ giddy at seeing it all come together.
But my game..ugh, what isn’t it doing to me. I guess it’s about 9 months ago it started with the flashing purple that seems to have become an epidemic amongst simmers. Over the years, a flash of purple used to mean that I’d simply left my game running too long (too long as in like 2 weeks or so, which is ridiculous, I know, but until recently I’d always left it running for several days at a time, but my rigs are also always well-powered to handle whatever I throw at them). Anyway, back then, in the good ol’ days, I’d quit, restart my comp, wouldn’t see any flashing for another coupla years. This is different. And even the latest suggested fixes that seem to be working for many are not relevant to my situation. I’ve got an 8GB dedicated GPU, 32 gigs of RAM, and my graphics rules are fully configured to take advantage of that - I am absolutely not running out of texture memory. I’ve even been monitoring my vram usage, among other stats, and the game doesn’t even come close to half of, let alone maxing out, what my card can handle.
So there’s that, which started my troubles, but it’s not even the main thing anymore. I haven’t seen it in a while, but I’m reluctant to call it solved because the last time I thought it was, it returned. But in between the purpley-pinkish nightmare - which could occasionally be fixed by exiting to neighbourhood and going back to the lot, where things would pick up like nothing weird at all just happened - are the intermittent crashes. I have no idea what’s causing them. It may be cc, even though, apart from CAS stuff and mods, I’ve stripped out everything that’s not in the Mashugas’ house and created a new hood of just their city and only the cast needed for the party scene. (Plus Angel, because I needed that band on Val’s finger. Interestingly, some of their behaviours were eerily consistent despite not having the same history informing them.)  So if it is cc, at the moment, I need it. I’m hoping to be able to pick up with a later save once what is now Part 5 is all done and I can finally leave the Mashugas and their possibly buggy lot behind. (The party scene is being retrofitted in, as far as my own play-through, because I saw it so clearly that I kept writing as though I had played it.) Unfortunately, all of my backups were prone to the crashing and flashing so it’s been just a cycle of frustration, which is why I ended up spending my quality simming time in Milkshape instead.
One thing that is definitely cc and not the hood itself as I originally suspected is the strangest glitch I’ve ever encountered. Somehow it came to be that if I open the hood in simPE, even if I change nothing, cosmetic changes to the sims will not stick. I go through the motions of changing appearance and hair changes stick but I look closely and the makeup, etc, has not budged. I thought for sure it was hood-specific because I built the story on an old test hood with a bunch of downloaded families already installed that were surely not packaged as cleanly as could be back then. Yesterday I tried it on the new hood, however, having used a new copy of simPE (for unrelated reasons), and their faces stuck again! Copied that hood over to my other test folder and, while everyone was bald, I could change appearance at will, so at least now I know that it is some conflict or faulty cc that I can track down.
Oh, and there’s so much more! So many wtf now moments that are so surreal because in all other respects my computer runs like a dream, but it is way past time I stopped babbling.
