every time i see a simple image with like an entire novels worth of image descriptions im like, is this actually helping people who use screen readers or is this crudely drawn three panel comic description the screen reader equivalent of do you love the colour of the sky

#also special shout out to image descriptions that miss the entire point of the photo #thinking specifically of that image of a shop window with some kind of 'we accept everyone' poster #and a 'only customers can use washroom' sign but the image description didnt include the second sign #or image descriptions that incorrectly identify stuff in the photo #like im all for making the internet more accessible but some of you are doing a bad job lol #i dont write much image descriptions but ive done a lot of captioning and transcribing #and youd be surprised at how bad some people are at it
