It wasn’t often that Syzoth got to travel to the Tarkatan colony and see Baraka. Typically, Syzoth was much too busy traveling back and forth between Zaterra and Sun Do or stuck in meetings all day with Empress Mileena and Princess Kitana. Not that he didn’t enjoy his new job, it was much a much needed upgrade from working in a traveling circus and then ‘working’ as a henchman for Shang Tsung. Syzoth shuddered as he recalled his time as an experiment under the thumb of Shang Tsung, but quickly shook off the memories as he approached the Tarkatan colony.

He adjusted his mask and adjusted the gifts in his arms before entering the threshold into the Tarkatan colony. He greeted a few Tarkatans that had grown familiar with his visits, but Syzoth looked around specifically for the leader. After a few moments, he found Baraka, standing in all of his glory, tall and imposing. It still made Syzoth weak in the knees at how the man towered over him.

“Baraka!” Syzoth called for the man. The Tarkatan turned, eyes lighting up in surprise at the sight of his partner, but he raised an eyebrow at the sight of the box in Syzoth’s arms.

“Syzoth!” Baraka walked toward the Zaterran, careful not to get too close. “What are you carrying?”

“It’s a gift for you and the others.” Syzoth placed the crate down and pried open the lid. “It’s full of medicinal salve. It’ll help soothe the pain of the Tarkat. Here.” Syzoth picked up one of the jars of the green salve and popped open the lid. The scent of medicinal herbs wafted into Syzoth’s nose, and he cringed a bit at the smell but dipped his fingers into the thick paste and walked closer to Baraka so he was only a few inches away from the man.

Baraka flinched when Syzoth got in close but remained still. Syzoth had told him at their last meetup that he would like more physical contact in their relationship. It was a risk that Syzoth was willing to take, and Baraka had to let his guard down just a little bit. The Tarkatan man held still as the Zaterran applied the medicine to the open wounds on his chest. Baraka then bent down when Syzoth finished applying the salve to his chest and reached up to apply the medicine to Baraka’s wounded head. A cool tingling sensation appeared where Syzoth applied the salve, but the pain in his chest disappeared and he felt something in his body relax as his body no longer had to bear the constant pain of Tarkat.

“It was freshly made, and I offered to carry it over, which is why it’s just me.” Syzoth hummed as he finished applying the salve to Baraka’s head and went back to the box and handed it over to a Tarkatan he recognized as a secondary leader of the colony. Baraka walked up behind Syzoth as the man was turned and explaining the instructions to the other. For a moment, Baraka hesitated but eventually he wrapped his arms around Syzoth and squeezed him gently into a hug. Syzoth stuttered but finished reciting his instructions before turning around to properly give Baraka a hug.

When they both pulled back from the hug, Baraka brought their foreheads together, and he wished he could just kiss Syzoth. However, it seemed Syzoth was content with what he had.

“Hmmm, thank you for taking care of us, Syzoth.”

“Of course, Baraka. Anything for you.”
