So there is something that has been intriguing me about Gina ever since the start of the season, I thought I was seeing things but with the latest episode I feel I am understanding her a bit better.
Now this is really just my interpretation and I could obviously be wrong but still felt like sharing.
For me it seems obvious that Gina has never had real friends. We have known that sure. But little things here and there had pointed out how shocked and touched she was whenever one of the group showed they cared for her. She never had that before so all of it is strange and she is clearly still getting used to.
Now comes her deal with Ricky. I am not saying I am anti them or anything, I truly never saw anything but I wasn't going to be mad if it was, lowkey was interested in seeing that. So while most may disagree I gotta say I don't think Gina is really in love with him. (I am not gonna touch what he feels cause that isn't the point here).
Does she have a crush? Sure. I mean I wouldn't blame her. But what I have gathered is that is a crush that grew over not exactly the right reasons.
The way I see it is that Ricky was the first straight guy that actually showed he cared for her, the first one that truly wanted to befriend her and with whom she could relate to and share some stuff. That's how her feelings started. Because before I doubt she met another guy like that.
Sure she kinda met EJ first but they were both just using each other in their "evil" schemes. EJ was more focused in getting Nini back and didn't really pay attention to her. Ricky was the one that followed her after her plan failed at the homecoming and took her home and they found out they shared stuff. He was the first that actually wanted to know her a little more.
That's why with this episode there was that moment with EJ and Gina that for me made everything click. When EJ was asking how she was feeling, he meant it because he cares, because he considers her a good friend (and now maybe more? Idk that was confusing). And when she realized that he genuinely wanted to know how she was feeling, she looked clearly confused and shocked. Probably because it hasn't happened before beside Ricky(at least with straight cute guys).
It also explains why she also mentioned how she didn't know where she stood with other guys in the school. I think that the entire time Gina has truly being thinking that Ricky wanted something else with her. He has been there for her after all. And that's also why she seemed confused and hurt whenever Ricky seemed like a lovesick puppy with Nini, always talking about her and asking Gina for advise. Maybe in her mind she thought how could he seemed interested in her and afterwards go running after another girl.
In the end I may be completely wrong with this, but right now I feel it sorta makes more sense. Maybe all of it is just something for Gina to learn more about friendships and also find what she really wants. But well, only time will tell.

HSMTMTS 2x09 Review
Spring Break was a bit of an odd ep but helped move some key plots forward. Let’s dig in!
Well people can no longer claim that Portwell is one sided. We finally got Gina’s pov and she starts off the ep uncertain whether the shift in their relationship means that EJ likes her but by the end of the ep she seems sure of herself and that EJ likes her back. I liked that she didn’t try to pretend that nothing had changed or that she hadn’t noticed potential signs that EJ might like her; it always sucks when tv characters act like idiots.
Perhaps the most important reveal of this ep was that Gina has a much older estranged brother who left her and her mom many years ago. That certainly makes her backstory more tragic and is definite set up for her brother to eventually return.
The writers continue to give Portwell great tropes, capping this ep off with an airport rom-com trope that also calls back to EJ getting Gina the place ticket so she could come back in S1. Not only did Gina keep EJ’s Duke sweatshirt but she altered it to fit her better which is both sweet and bold in the assumption that it was hers to keep. Gina got her sign when not only did EJ show up to drive Gina home and take her luggage but he brought her the granola bar that she had wanted but forgot to pack. I wonder if her posting on her story that she was ubering home after her flight was cancelled was intended to see if EJ would show up since the camera focused on her posting it. Also sweet that she’s taken to calling EJ, ‘ Eej’.
EJ’s opening was good, shows a lot of his character growth from the selfish guy he was in S1 and how he’s learned to value other people which of course leads into his feelings for Gina. We got another great use of the camera as character tonight when Gina was laughing after her facetime call with EJ until she realized that the camera was on her.
Jack was a lot of fun. Though he didn’t really change Gina’s mind over anything like the ep description said he would.  Seemed like Gina was largely over Ricky and wondering about EJ at the beginning and the end solidified her feelings for EJ but Jack didn’t really play a role in that, it’s not like he encouraged Gina to reach out to EJ or anything. There’s a vague sense in which Jack being nomadic linked him to Ricky’s unreliability in Gina’s eyes with her craving stability but that’s a stretch. Jack mentioned that the second most dangerous part of a plane ride is when the plane takes off, a hint to the blossoming Portwell relationship where in order to take off one or both of them has to risk a confession even though they could be turned down.
This ep might seem a bit weird in hindsight. The zoom parts probably won’t age well and five years from now people might be wondering why they had Gina hang out with a manic pixie dream boy of sorts for an ep.
The path is clear for canon Portwell in the finale with EJ being Gina’s second chance at romance and her first kiss since they clearly telegraphed it out of nowhere. I’ve been impressed with the great work the writers have been doing since 2x05 to build up Portwell as a ship but also work on Gina and EJ as individual characters; they’ve been the highlight of the season so far.
There was discourse this past week over how well or poorly Portwell has been set up. Objectively very few ships on this show get much in the way of set up or consistent writing. Redlyn and Kowie had barely any set up before getting together. Seblos had none (though in fairness that was due to Disney restrictions) and Miss Jenn and Mike Bowen didn’t have much set up either. Rini did get lots of development in S1 but that’s because they had already dated and were the main ship of the show. The show’s not really about slow burns, if Jenzzara canons in the finale they’ll count and if Rina ever got together they’d also count but neither of those ships have gotten consistent development with Mazzara not being in several eps and Gina and Ricky not even interacting for the past 3 eps.
Is Portwell a slowburn? In a sense since they did feature quite a bit in each other’s S1 plot lines and even had a fake dating plot but it is true that they were platonic and not that close in S1 so it’s a wash. There was clear set up for romantic Portwell in 1x10 with team wonderstudies and Gina staring at EJ (which interestingly enough looked more like set up for Gina to pine over EJ). I think the main problem is that even though we saw Gina and EJ hanging out in the background we didn’t get any scenes of substance between them until 2x05. It was a mistake and there should have been some scene, like EJ and Gina commiserating in 2x03 over being single on Valentine’s Day or something like that. Hell there was even that still from 2x01 of EJ and Gina looking at each other at the piano while they were in the frame between Ricky and Nini singing and having a moment  which would have been good foreshadowing but that shot wasn’t in the ep.
Whether Tim just really wanted Portwell to be a surprise in 2x05 as a mid-season twist to throw the audience off of what looked like a Rini/Rina triangle or he was unsure as to whether he wanted to go with Portwell or if he just planned it out poorly we may never know. Regardless they’ve had great writing for 4 eps in a row now which puts them slightly ahead of the 3 eps in a row of development Rina got in S1. I’m sure if someone added up their screen time they’d find that Portwell has more screen time this season than Kowie and more screen time than Redlyn or Seblos  got in S1.
Caswell cousins was fun and Ashlyn did in fact paint EJ’s nails.
Set up for Seblos drama next week, it’s refreshing to see Seb being jealous over Carlos flirting with other boys that’s definitely not something you see on Disney shows.
Ricky got some healing done with his mom. Enough to cover their issues? No but this is probably the best this show is capable of. There was a brief mention of therapy sandwiched between other options which sounds more like checking off a box then setting up Ricky actually going to therapy. I noticed Lynne was smiling at odd times like when she told Ricky she knew about his breakup with Nini; whether that was poor directing or acting I don’t know. Who knows if we’ll see Lynne again. As an aside still so wild that Tim named Lynne who’s been a kinda shitty mom after his own mom who he seems to be fairly close with.
Really liked You ain’t seen nothin as a song but not a fan of the Tiktok style vid. I’ll level with you wildcats, I’m too old to really get Tiktok, it just seems like a crappy version of Vine to me. Let you go was good, seemed better fitted for Joshua Bassett’s voice than some of his previous songs. A big sign that they’re not circling back to Rini for a long time for sure. Though on that note we got a bit of a hint that Ricky was Nini’s muse which may one day come back as a way to help bring them back together.
Looking Ahead:
If there’s only 3 weeks left till the Menkies, with only 2 weeks left for rehearsal due to spring break, it’s hard to see East High winning unless North High is disqualified or has to withdraw.
Lily is in a promo photo so she’s likely the unexpected facetime Ricky gets which is what I had theorized. Also makes it much more likely that she’s the party crasher Ricky re-evaluates in the finale though what Tim actually wants to do with those two I do not know.
There’s little point in bringing back the Valentine’s chocolate since there’s no real stakes. Rini are already broken up, Gina hasn’t spoken to Ricky since 2x06, and it’s not like Nini and Gina were ever close so even if they stopped talking to each other it wouldn’t really affect the show in any way.
Seems pretty likely that Second Chances refers to Gina realizing that her first try with Ricky failed but her second chance with EJ won’t and that leads to her sharing her truth and cue the Portwell confession and kiss, perhaps with an assist on EJ’s end from Mazzara. We’ve gone well past the point where Portwell can be brushed off as just a plot device to help Rina but Tim is playing with fire by getting the audience so on board with Portwell if he’s once again going to have EJ lose a girl he likes to Ricky in S3.
Gina certainly needs to talk with Ricky and I do think that happens in ep 11 or 12 and leaves them on better terms. As I mentioned last week, if Tim was smart he’d slam the door on Rina if he’s going with canon Portwell or vice versa. If he wants Rina to be a slow burn he’s really botched the writing this season, it’s been too one sided and too angsty to sustain any kind of momentum or audience interest. They haven’t even interacted for 3 eps now and not only has it not affected the show but it’s inarguably made Gina’s story line much better.  Again I don’t think he’s smart enough to not try and do Portwell and then later Rina but he’s accidentally set up the Rina story line to quite easily slam the door permanently on them by having their conversation be closure for Gina who’s moved on and an apology from Ricky who never liked her back as much as Gina liked him.
Not looking forward to seeing Nini basically live out Olivia Rodrigo’s life in future seasons
Curious to see Carlos’ apology song to Seb. Ricky helping him with it is a great way to help start redeeming Ricky’s character in the audiences eye’s. According to Matt there is a bit of a Ricky/EJ rivalry this season and if it’s really happening the sleepover would be a good place to do it though I hope it’s not about Gina.
Until next week wildcats.

MBAV theory and ending
Hello everyone ! Here I am to discuss our beloved but too soon cancelled show : My Babysitters’s A vampire’s. Mostly its ending but not only. Damn you Disney for that cliffhanger...
Warning, it’s a really long post ! It’s around 2k words. I didn’t put it under a cut, but I can if asked. The first part (half ?) of this post is something about the MBAV universe, that I use to explain my theory about the ending. Then I will explain it, what happened and all with that, and they a small paragraph of what could have been the beggining of season 3. I’d be really happy if you guys read, and what do you think about it. So, here we go ! (Please forgive the typos)
Anyway, before talking about the ending I want to speak about the vampires and their so called “immortality”. Throughout all the show it was clearly stated that all vampires are immortal. Yet, we see a lot of them dying (killed by wooden stakes, holy water, special daggers, etc.). Sooo, are they really that immortal, or can they just live as long as possible until they’re killed ? The show doesn’t answer it, and we never saw a vampire that was killed coming back. (Except for Jesse, but his case is a bit special, with the Cubile Animus and all, so we’re not talking about it here). But ! The movie answers it, more specificly Sarah. Remember the scene when they are at Ethan’s house and they are attacked by the pizza guy, who happens to be a vampire sent by Jesse ? Yeah ? Cool, because it tells us an intersting thing. So, Sarah kills him with a wooden stake, and a bit later Ethan asks if he’s really dead. Sarah then answers, and I quote : “ Not...dead, no, just in some kinds of limbo for souls.”
Oh boy. So, it’s clear : when vampires are killed, they don’t die. Their souls go into a limbo. But first of all, what is a limbo, you may ask ? I’m going to answer as simply as I can. A limbo is something from the catholic theology. Well, not only, but in the case of the show, it’s in this sense; let’s not forget that vampires can’t approach someone who’s holding a christian cross or just making a cross with sticks or whatever (I’m almost totally sure we see it in MBAV, but correct me if I’m wrong on that). So, in catholic theology, the “Underworld” is composed in 4 parts : Hell as we know it (”Hell of the Damned”), the Purgatory, the Limbo of the Fathers and the Limbo of Infants. Here, we don’t care about the second limbo, because it is for children who weren’t baptized.  So the Limbo of the Fathers it is ! That’s still not very helpful to you, I know, but I’m getting to it. So, what is it ? It’s a place where the souls of those who have commited sins but died in the friendship of God (I’m quoting wikipedia here, ahem). So, bad people but that could still go to Heaven but only if Mr. Jesus Christ come to pardon them. But I may be going a bit too far for MBAV here. Let’s continue, shall we ? Vampires are by definition a sin, for the Religion. So, it’s clear they’re not going to Heaven. But, they are immortal beings, so it’s not as if they could go to hell anyway. However, the souls of the killed vampire have to go somewhere, so they go in the limbo. Why not the Purgatory ? I don’t really know, and my theories are not really useful in the point I’m trying to make here about MBAV. And I probably already digressed too much... but hey, a little culture never hurts.
So ! It could stop here : the souls of the killed vampires go into that limbo because they can’t go anywhere else, and it’s done. But Sarah’s sentence is not done ! Just after the limbo thing, she says : “But he won't be back here.” If she just said that the pizza vampire guy wouldn’t be back, it wouldn’t change anything, it would just emphasize that he’s dead. However, notice the “here” at the very end of the sentence. Just that little word changes the meaning ! He won’t be back here, but he will be back somewhere else. Then, we understand that vampires are really immortal ! First they are “killed”, their soul go into the limbo for an unknown time, and then they come back. As I just said, we don’t know how long their soul stay in the limbo. Sure, we never saw vampires come back on the show, but I think it’s just because it’s not in the plot. I would say it takes a few days for the soul to come back, maybe weeks but not more. Maybe it depends of the cause of death ? I don’t know. Remember that it’s just me founding out things out of just one line, I can only theorize what I don’t know.
Well, it’s great that we found that. But... what for ? Okay, we learned something but it doesn’t really apply to the MBAV story / plotline... Or does it ?
Now, I’m bringing on the table “The Date To End All Dates, Part 2″, aka the awful cliffhanger that we all hate deeply. That left us with SO many questions, and no answers. This post is now going to be about “what would have happened in season 3 episode 1 (and possibly 2 too) ?” Here’s a quick recall of how the episode ended : VP Stern, Ethan, Benny, Sarah and Jesse are at the Council and there is a big boom all over White Chapel. Anastasia, Erica and Rory are in what looks like the mountains, at least they’re not in White Chapel. Anastasia said she was waiting for the explosion to happen, and visibly just wanted to go far enough to not be in it with the remaining vampires (are Rory and Erica the two last of the Council that could make it with her ?). So, she knew what Stern wanted to do. What was his plan already ? Jesse tells us that the Council has a broadcast system, originally used to communicate with other covens, that Stern would use to spread the Lucifractor’s power all over White Chapel and thus, killing all vampires in town.  But, aren’t vampires immortal, able to come back and all, as we’ve seen before ? As you know it, the Lucifractor is designed especially to kill vampires definitely by “absorbing the dark energy that keep vampires alive”, to quote Jesse. We saw Stern use it on vampires, it “shoots” like a purple lightnight, and the vampire turns to dust. So, the explosion happened. What would be the most logical thing to happen after that cliffhanger, aka season 3 ep 1 ? Main theory would be that the Lucifractor worked, which implies Sarah and Jesse being dead, along with the other remaining White Chapel vampires in town (but not Anastasia, Rory and Erica, because they are “safe” far away). Benny, Ethan and Stern on the other hand would be alive, because the Lucifractor only kills vampires and doesn’t affect humans. But... is it really what happened ? Of course not.
First of all, it is a Disney Channel show. That cliffhanger was made in the optic of having a third season, to continue the story. The show would never have killed one of its main character, especially Sarah. Count it as an argument or not, it’s true.  Second of all, I bet the explosion that happened didn’t go the way Stern intended. The plan was just to broadcast the Lucifractor’s power, nothing more. But if you don’t remember, Ethan went into Stern’s mind just before the explosion. I won’t describe the entire scene, but basically Ethan tells Stern that he is just a human. That without the Lucifractor, he is totally powerless. Ethan emphasize the fact that Stern is nothing without the Lucifractor, in a cocky and clever way. And let’s not forget it’s Ethan, the “brain” one of the group. Yet he wasn’t panicking, he was confident in what he was doing, going into Stern’s mind. He had a plan. What next ? Ethan’s remarks kind of angered Stern and he tells Ethan “Stop saying that ! I can draw all the energy I need from this and then the power will be in me and I can get rid of this little bubble.” Ethan says a last thing that pushes Stern over the edge. Stern stops what he was doing (which is shooting Jesse and Sarah with the Lucifractor, who are okay just after that) and then, he takes the Lucifractor and makes the mistake. He takes the power for himself. He feels it, he says “I can feel the power, the deepest darkness. You’re such a fool, you’ll never stop me now !”. Then, still with confidence, Ethan tells the other to run, and the explosion happens.
I believe that Ethan’s plan worked. I believe he wanted Stern to take the Lucifractor’s power to himself. By dragging him down, saying he couldn’t handle it... and it worked ! Stern thought he could take it and be all powerful and everything. But... he’s still just a human. And a normal human can’t physically handle all that power, that darkness. The explosion wasn’t Stern broadcasting the Lucifractor’s power, it was him. Stern’s body couldn’t bare all that and, because of the Lucifrator, exploded. But, theeen, what if if it had the same effect, and still killed Sarah and Jesse ? To that I will answer that even if the explosion looked the same as it would if the plan worked (as Anastasia is probably thinking), it is probably way less powerful than if should have been. First because Stern was trying to take the power, the Lucifractor wasn’t in “attack mode” (I think ?). But mostly because Stern took the Lucifractor in his hands, therefore ending the “broadcast” thing. My two other arguments are that, well it’s still a Disney Channel show, and Ethan’s confidence. As I said, he pulled a very clever move. He probably remembered Jesse telling him that Stern’s great great grandfather was mostly hella greedy of power, more than willing to clean White Chapel from vampires. It’s still canon that Ethan has a crush on Sarah and that he cares deeply for her (as Grandma Weir says, more for her than anyone ! (Just because it’s canon doesn’t mean I agree with that, okay ? But that’s what it said, and I’m working with the canon)). So he definitely didn’t waste precious time running away if he didn’t have a smart plan that he knew would work.
Hey, I’m still not done ! God that’s a long post. But then... what happened to Jesse and Sarah ? Yes, I said that the explosion was less powerfull than intended, but it still happened. Remember the first part of this post ? That’s right. The limbo for souls. That’s where I believe Sarah and Jesse would have been in the beggining of season 3. Sure, they would be weak. But they wouldn’t be dead. Now, that’s just my theory coming. I don’t really have the canon help anymore at this point, so here’s what I think is the most logic thing that could have happened.
Boom. They explosion went all over White Chapel. Benny and Ethan are knocked off and wake up after a few hours, possibly at dawn. Because hey, that’s still an explostion. Ironically, Stern’s the one who turned into dust. His body really couldn’t handle that. Benny and Ethan are relived, Sarah’s body is still here and intact, yet unconscious next to Jesse’s. But even after hours, they don’t wake up. Benny and Ethan kinda panic, and go to Evelyn (grandma Weir). She has theories but isn’t an expert in vampires, so can’t really help. The plan is to find Anastasia, Rory and Erica. They believed the explosion went as planned and went away. As Anastasia said before, they’ll just wait until Stern dies of old age. (Erica and Rory want to go back to check on Sarah, but missy vampire child tells them she is dead, and with her mind control thing, they can’t do anything). But Sarah is not dead, at least that’s what Ethan says, but they could start to loose hope at some point, and the guys are on their way to find Anastasia, because if anyone knows something about what to do, it’s her (they also want to have their friends back). They find her, and here’s the what happens : Sarah (as well as Jesse) are stuck in the limbo. Normally, they would be able to “come back to life” by themselves, but the Lucifractor weakened them, therefore they can’t escape the limbo. At least, not alone. It’s up to the fang gang to go there and bring their friend back (and they hesitate, but bring back Jesse too). They go back to White Chapel, and season 3 continues.
Now, I’m done ! I really hope I didn’t annoy you guys with my long post. If you like my theory, I’d be very happy if you tell me, I might try to write it, as a real fanfiction more than just a paragraph. Please, tell me what you think about it !
MBAV will ride again !

Episode Review- The Real Ghostbusters: The Boogieman Cometh
Tumblr media
Hmmm.  I wonder if the people behind Monsters, Inc. drew some inspiration from watching this episode.
We open with the Ghostbusters in pursuit of Louie, a stereotypical gangster ghost.  The ‘you’ll never take me alive, copper’ type.  At present, Louie has hijacked a truck, resulting in a car chase with the Ecto-1. However, the Ghostbusters manage to trap Louie in the end and bring him back to the Firehouse, where they’re greeted by Janine, who is actually the most on-par with Annie Pott’s portrayal of the character as I’ve seen her in the episodes so far, so that was cool to see.  Shortly after returning, the Ghostbusters decide to retire for the night and go to bed, with Peter instructing Janine to not let anyone in. Which is a bit strange, when you think about it.  Does Janine not go home at night?  Is she there at the Firehouse 24/7?  That poor woman.
Anyway, we then cut to the Ghostbuster’s sleeping quarters, where we get a seemingly pointless scene of Peter finding his pillow drenched with slime.  Realizing that Slimer has been sleeping on his pillow again, Peter threatens their pet ghost with this prototype ghost bomb that Egon has apparently invented offscreen, which is supposed to disintegrate all ghosts in a 50 yard radius.  Once Slimer zooms off in fear, Peter goes to sleep. But not for long, as the Ghostbusters are woken up during the night by Janine, who informs them that they have a late-night visitor.  She goes on to say that, while she knows they instructed her to not let anyone else in, she felt that an exception should be made in this case.  The late-night visitor is then revealed to be two small children, Megan and Kenny Carter.  The children explain that they’re being terrorized by the Boogieman, who lives in their closet, and even offer to pay the Ghostbusters with the money in their piggybanks if they agree to help.  At first, it looks as if the Ghostbusters will simply chuckle this away.  Because ha-ha, little kids are scared of the Boogieman. But Egon insists that they take this seriously.  Because he knows that the Boogieman actually does exist.  It eventually comes out that Egon himself encountered the Boogieman when he was a little boy, and it was that encounter that led him to want to study the paranormal in the first place, since he wanted to find a way to stop the Boogieman.  Which is why he insists that they’ll handle Megan and Kenny’s case at no charge.
So the Ghostbusters bring Megan and Kenny back to their apartment, where their parents are still asleep.  (They apparently snuck out without their parents’ knowledge.  Which is impressive, as it indicates these two kids managed to find their way to the Firehouse on their own.)  Shortly after they enter the children’s bedroom, they determine there is indeed a high reading of paranormal activity emanating from their closet.  And at midnight on the dot, a portal opens up within the closet, allowing the Boogieman to enter the room.  However, it’s quickly determined that the Boogieman is not actually a ghost, so the Ghostbusters are unable to catch him in a Ghost Trap.  Instead, they can only force the Boogieman back into the closet with a full proton stream.  While they are successful in driving the Boogieman back, the Ghostbusters realize that he will most likely be back.  But the noise they made in their efforts has woken up Megan and Kenny’s parents.  They take the presence of four grown men in their children’s bedroom surprisingly well, but that’s probably just because they were able to recognize the Ghostbusters, seeing as they were big celebrities in the city and all.  Although, they don’t believe their claim that they were facing the Boogieman and suggest that the Ghostbusters leave.  The Ghostbusters comply with their request and return to the Firehouse.  Except for Winston, who, out of concern for Megan and Kenny’s well-being, opts to stand guard out on the street in case the Boogieman decides to come back that night.  And a good thing too, because the Boogieman does attempt to return later on, prompting Winston to scare him back with a well-aimed proton stream through the open bedroom window.
Back and the Firehouse, the Ghostbusters discuss how to best go about dealing with the Boogieman if they can’t actually trap him. They soon come up with a plan which involves them luring the Boogieman into a different kind of trap.  Basically, if they can lure the Boogieman out of a closet portal, the Ghostbusters can use that to their advantage and actually enter his domain.  Once on the other side, they can use Egon’s Ghost Bomb to set off an explosion that would effectively close all the portals connecting the Boogieman’s world to the closets of children around the world.  However, there’s a small catch.  Not every closet contains a portal to the Boogieman’s world.  So for this plan to work, the Ghostbusters have to track down a closet that does contain a portal.  Especially since it’s doubtful Mr. and Mrs. Carter would be very accommodating if they tried to use the one in Megan and Kenny’s room.  After all, they don’t believe the Boogieman actually exists.
As such, the Ghostbusters search around the city, checking out every available apartment for rent.  They eventually locate a closet with a portal in a rather expensive apartment room.  While they’re not thrilled with the steep price attached to the place, they’re left with very little choice.  (I wonder what they did with this apartment afterwards.  Maybe they gifted it to Janine so she’d actually have a place to go after closing time?)  Anyway, the Ghostbusters promptly get to work in dressing up the apartment room to resemble a child’s bedroom.  Once the stage is set up, all they need is the bait.  They quickly select Ray, on account of how he’s clearly the most childlike of the group, which is highlighted by Ray’s exuberance upon noticing a plushie of Dopey Dog among the stuffed animals Egon was able to locate.  (Dopey Dog is apparently the star of a popular in-universe cartoon show for kids.)  And I readily admit I got a chuckle from seeing Ray milking his role as a ‘child’ for all it’s worth, asking for a glass of water before bed as well as requesting that Peter tell him a bedtime story.  The Ghostbuster’s plan ultimately works, with the Boogieman emerging from the bedroom closet in order to scare the ‘child’ that is Ray.  Unfortunately, when the Ghostbuters moved in to attack, the Boogieman manages to slip back though the portal, forcing the Ghostbusters to give chase. Which leads to a rather entertaining sequence of the Ghostbusters chasing after the Boogieman through the bedrooms of random children. Including the bedroom of a child living in Hollywood.  Eventually though, the Boogieman manages to give the Ghostbusters the slip.
Not to be deterred, the Ghostbusters proceed with their true initiative by managing to locate the Boogieman’s innermost sanctum.  There, they begin working on hooking up Egon’s Ghost Bomb to all four of their Proton Packs. Basically, Egon abandoned the concept of perfecting his Ghost Bomb because he couldn’t find a sufficient way to power it.  But now he theorizes that, if they hook up the Ghost Bomb to their Proton Packs and set them to overload, it should provide the Ghost Bomb with the power it needs to detonate.  Right before they could essentially light the fuse on the Ghost Bomb, the Ghostbusters find their escape route blocked by the Boogieman.  Egon, on account of his personal experience with the Boogieman as a child, volunteers to essentially sacrifice himself to hold the Boogieman at bay so Peter, Ray and Winston can escape the Boogieman’s realm before the Ghost Bomb goes off and seals off the portals back to the Human World.
Fortunately though, it doesn’t come to that.  Because it turns out that Megan and Kenny have witnessed this confrontation through the portal inside their bedroom closet. Remembering what Winston told them earlier about how the Boogieman is only powerful against them if they’re afraid, the children manage to face their fears and stand up to the Boogieman, with Kenny even tripping the Boogieman up with marbles.  Because of Megan and Kenny’s efforts, the Ghostbusters are all able to successfully set off the Ghost Bomb and return safely to the other side before the portals are sealed off, imprisoning the Boogieman once and for all. With the day saved, Egon tucks Megan and Kenny into bed, wishing them both a goodnight.
The episode ends with the Ghostbusters returning to the Firehouse.  There, they get a brief scare when a hand emerges from Peter’s personal locker, which momentarily makes them think the Boogieman somehow came back.  But it turns out it was only Slimer playing a prank on them, possibly in retaliation of Peter threating him at the start of the episode.  Which, of course, irritates Peter.
Watching this episode did make me wonder if at least one person over at Disney/Pixar saw this episode as a kid.  Because the scene where the Ghostbusters are chasing after the Boogieman does remind me of the climactic scene in Monsters, Inc., where they’re running through the various doors and ending up in random places all over the world.  And the way Megan and Kenny manage to face their fears to stand up to the Boogieman in order to assist the Ghostbusters does seem to parallel the moment where Boo got over her fear of Randel in order to defend Sully.  Then again, it could just be a huge coincidence.  Who can say?  Either way, it was a really good episode.  And the design of the Boogieman was particularly creative, from his oversized head to his cloven feet.  Props to the animation team on this one.

3rd Party...Xehanorts?((A crossover discussion))
Tumblr media
((Greetings Hee Hoo Dood, Prinnyfrost reporting for duty! I wonder how many people are still excited that Kingdom Hearts 3 is finally coming out.
Tumblr media
After so long of waiting, the 3rd main title in one of everyone’s favorite crossover gaming series is finally coming out! In the meantime, I decided to look over the trailers of the confirmed worlds.
Tumblr media
Some I’m excited about,
Tumblr media
others, not so much.
Tumblr media
The one trailer that caught me the most off guard was the Winnie the Pooh trailer, and that’s for two reasons.
Tumblr media
The first is the fact that, unlike previous entries, you’re going around and actually fighting heartless in them instead of playing mini-games. This is one thing that actually disappointed me. I loved the fact that not every world in the games has to be about combat. It shows that Sora is capable of helping others even when there aren’t any heartless or nobodies involved to mess things up.

It was one of the arguments I made as to why an Undertale world WOULD work if they ever bothered to include 3rd party worlds, as unlikely as that sounds; however that’s still not as jarring about the second thing they showed in that trailer.
Tumblr media
Eeyore becomes a Xehanort!
Tumblr media
Yup! Everyone’s favorite donkey with a constantly missing tail that needs more love gets taken over by Xehanort. This blew my mind because I thought Xehanort was only going after characters that originated from the Kingdom Hearts series like Riku and Roxas, but this clearly shows that he’s up for nabbing anyone in his grasp. So that got me thinking, “Who else might he target as he go through other worlds getting ready for the upcoming keyblade war against Sora and friends?”
Tumblr media
Now like before, I’m only sticking to possible candidates on the off chance of third party involvement. While I haven’t seen any videos about people theorizing who might be next on Xehanort’s list of people to infect with his heart virus (pun not intended), I do like to stick outside the box from time to time. Plus, there’s also that chance where someone could make a crossover fanfic and could take notes from this. And remember, when I mean “3rd party” I mean strictly “3rd party”. As in anything owned by either Disney or Square won’t count for this.
Tumblr media
Which might be for the best considering that if Thanos were to be controlled by Xehanort while holding the infinity gauntlet with all the stones, I’m pretty sure we’ll have more to worry about than losing just half the universe. I’m also not going by just the villain characters in each of the worlds either. Anyone, hero, villain, or neutral could be under Xehanort’s radar on where to spread his infection. Basically anyone from a series that pops up to mind. Now with that out of the way, let’s get started. First let’s begin with the easiest one I could come up with,
Tumblr media
Flowey from Undertale. The reasoning for this should be pretty obvious. Flowey has no soul inside of him, and considering that souls in Undertale work pretty much the same way hearts do in Kingdom Hearts, he would be considered a Nobody, the husk of Asriel Dreemurr.
Tumblr media
As Xemnas pointed out in Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance, nobodies are the easiest to take over since they’re born without hearts. While he did lie about nobodies never having one, he was telling the truth that they didn’t start out with one and it’ll take time for a new one to develop.
Xemnas: “A heart is never lost for good. There may have been variances in our dispositions, but a number of us unquestionably showed signs of a burgeoning replacement. Once born, the heart can also be nurtured. Our experiments with the heartless were attempts to control the mind and convince it to renounce its sense of self. But understand, one can banish the heart from the body, but the body will try to replace it the first chance it gets, for as many times as it takes.”
Tumblr media
Asriel didn’t become whole again until he absorbs the souls of all the monsters in the underground as well as the 6 human souls Asgore obtained. So I’d say his best bet take over Asriel is to implant his soul into him while he’s still Flowey or wait until Flowey starts taking everyone’s soul from the underground, become one of the souls he takes without him realizing it, and become the dominant one.
Tumblr media
Actually, now that I think about it, it’s actually pretty damn dark when you realize this means by doing this, Xehanort has pretty much taken the ENTIRE underground hostage just to make Asriel his vessel, leaving only Frisk and Chara (who’s resting inside of Frisk’s soul) remaining. Ugh...and I thought the genocide route was fucked up. Speaking of crazy people and broken hearts, let’s head over to another series I mentioned might work for Kingdom Hearts,
Tumblr media
Orphen. Considering that this is an old show that not a lot of people are familiar with, let me give you a quick refresher.
Tumblr media
Orphen is the tale of a talented sorcerer named Krylancelo Finradi (or “Orphen”), who left a school of magic in order to save his sister Azalie after she transformed into a dragon by stabbing herself in the chest with a magic sword.
Tumblr media
And believe it or not, it’s that sister whose going to be targeted by Xehanort next. Why?
Tumblr media
Well, Xehanort seems to be able to control those that show darkness seeping into their hearts as if it found cracks and begins to flow through them, like water leaking through a whole. That’s the case in how he controlled Aqua, Terra, and Riku.
Tumblr media
I bring this up because in the anime, Azalie was very nice and sweet. While she was the #1 student in the Tower of Fang, she never let it go to her head.
Tumblr media
That is until one day where she confessed her feelings to her teacher, Master Childman (yes, that IS his name), the person who brought her and Orphen in while they were out in the winter on their own.
Tumblr media
Surprise, surprise, Childman rejected her proposal stating that he only considers her his student.
Tumblr media
It’s at that point the drove Azalie more into her studies. She became obsessed with power, aiming to become strong enough to impress and possibly surpass Childman. Orphen even says it when bringing up their backstory in episode 8 of the anime.
Tumblr media
Orphen: ”Sometimes I could see a different side of her. Something that frightened me. She was intense, almost fanatical about her studies. Her curiosity was insatiable. I tried to tell myself it was just ambition, but deep down, I knew it was something else. Something dangerous.”
This got to a point where she attempted to experiment with the forbidden Sword of Baltanders. While it wasn’t clear of what she was trying to do with it, considering she stabbed herself in the chest with it, I believe she was trying to turn herself into an all powerful sorceress, since the sword has the power to turn anyone it cuts to anything the user wishes.
Tumblr media
It didn’t work... It also didn’t help that her former colleagues began hunting her down and tried to kill her, which drove her even more insane, so she starts killing people! Do you get what I’m trying to point out here? Her obsession for power, her lack of sanity, she’s a prime target for Xehanort! Darkness has definitely found its way into her heart and it’s growing stronger overtime. The only issue I can think of that Xehanort might have is the fact that Azalie is well adverse with white magic. This includes mind manipulation and soul transfer, so there’s a good chance she could be at least somewhat resistant to him.
Tumblr media
In which case, I guess he would try to take advantage of that Gaia machine in the video game. Alright, let’s see what else we could come up with.
Tumblr media
Hmm, while I do think Shantae could work as a possible world, I can’t really think of anyone that could become a Xehanort. Then again, I should get back to playing Shantae 3 soon.
Tumblr media
Hmm...the only possible candidate I could think of is Satsuki, and even then, that’s a huge maybe.
Tumblr media
Pretty sure they already have their own true Organization XIII.
Tumblr media
Okay! Now we’re talking! Sengoku Basara! Granted, while I only played the 3rd game in the series and watched the movie “Last Party”, I’m pretty sure we have a perfect candidate to become another Xehanort puppet.
Tumblr media
At first, I was thinking about Mitsunari, considering his grumpy attitude and carries a huge vengence against Ieyasu (or Masamune in the “Last Party” movie). Clearly someone like the Dark Prince himself would definitely be a Xehanort...that is until I recall one important detail that Ieyasu points out in Oichi’s story in Sengoku Basara 3.
Ieyasu: “Back in those days, Mitsunari seemed to possess...qualities. Both darkness and light. People admired his exceptional abilities. He gained respect for fearlessly showing his true nature. I’ll admit, I was envious of him because of this.”
Although it may not seem like it, Mitsunari has a balanced heart. He’s cruel, and cold, but loyal to a fault and isn’t afraid of his true self. Xehanort tends to struggle when it comes to dealing with people with more balanced hearts. That’s how Riku was able to break free from his control without the aid of Namine’s lock. So, that’s fine and dandy, but you know who doesn’t have a good balanced heart?
Tumblr media
Oichi Oda! After the fall of the Oda clan, Oichi became mentally unstable. She wanders around to different areas without much of a clue and in different hands, she could be kind and helpful or a threat to anyone she comes to contact with.
Tumblr media
It’s almost like if she herself became a heartless or nobody, like she loss her sense of self.
Tumblr media
That is until Nobunaga comes back to life, realizes what she must do, and she sacrifices herself to save the world. So, Xehanort may want to act BEFORE that happens. Like Xemnas said, a heart doesn’t stay lost forever. Okay, this is starting to get long so, I’ll bring up just one more possible candidate. For this, let’s head over to one of my favorite franchises,
Tumblr media
The Disgaea series. I’ll be honest with you, this was more difficult for me than I expected. I kept debating about who could be the ideal candidate to work with.
Tumblr media
At first, I was thinking Etna around the time she loses her memories due to the fact that she discarded them after so much frustration in terms of Krichevskoy marring another woman, having a child with said woman, and dying by the hands of Tyrant Baal. Guess everyone has their drastic ways of handling rejection.
Tumblr media
Then I thought about Fubuki, a guy obsessed with seeking vengence against the fake Zenon after the destruction of the clan, no matter what the means.
Tumblr media
Then there’s Mao, whose heart became in flux for years due to Geoffry pushing him to become the strongest overlord just to he can have a good fight.
Tumblr media
Finally, I thought of Void, a guy who literally let a dark heart take over his mind after being jealous of Killia and accidentally killing his sister. I thought any one of these people would be a prime target for Xehanort, that is until my friends on Amino convinced me about what could possibly be the perfect candidate out of everyone in the entire franchise...
Tumblr media
Nemo from Disgaea 4. And if you’re thinking that I’m just saying that because his name means “No one” in latin, like Desco points out in the game, you’re not wrong. It IS a major reason considering that he’s literally discarding his sense of self just to be a nobody. Remember what Xemnas said! That’s what the experiments he did with the heartless were all about! Also, remember that Artina spent her time as an angel trying to get Nemo to let go of his hatred, but overtime, he stopped hearing her voice and stopped believing, as if Artina failed to nurture his heart to see the brighter side.
Tumblr media
Hell, knowing that Xehanort can time travel, I would be surprised if in Kingdom Hearts continuity, he would go back in time to try to convince Nemo to give into the darkness just for that reason. Kind of like if he’s another voice in his head telling him to ignore Artina and seek vengeance against the humans and demons. I can picture him doing it now actually, getting Nemo to turn away while giving Artina a fiendish smile as they leave. That’s how evil Xehanort is! It makes too much sense. So, those are the possible 3rd party Xehanorts I could come up with. Anyone you can think of?))
