I never considered Vitus as anything other than a duskwight from some people (parents maybe, or he joined himself) who ended up with the empire whether through conquest or an alternative to banditry. He has an off-color skin tone and pointy ears, and I assumed the model and wiki listing duskwight was accurate to his representation. Interesting because I feel like if he was supposed to be genetically Garlean they go for a Wildwood model otherwise. Plus we get other duskwight imperials (Albeleo). I just assumed something with a theoretical meritocracy would be an option some duskwight would see as viable with the game lore given how they're treated in Eorzea. Also would explain why he wouldn't be able to advance too far despite being OP compared to regular soldiers.

Oooh I didn't know he was listed as Duskwight in his wiki page you are probably right. I didn't even realize his ears or skintone because it was at night when I did his duty.

Valens van Varro from ShB trials also uses an Elezen face so I thought they used an Elezen face for Vitus too.

I also assumed he was Garlean because besides his surname -we all know conscripts get new ones like Asahi or Fordola- his name sounds Garlean to me instead of being similar to other Duskwight Elezen.
