pulling the uno reverse card to say hello???? your bg3 thoughts???? anything you'd like to share with the massess? 📸🎙️ what's the wildest thing you've done so far what are the basics for your ocs?
HEJHKFSSJ hi merhaba hello I have SO MANY thoughts (I've played up to 1/4 of Act 3 before restarting so I'll try and be vague)
WOW. What a game what a GAME!! I have never got attached to so many side characters. I love that I can give them closure and conclusive ends to their arcs, and they're not even main characters. I love that as a player, I can have an influence in my environment. I love that I can challenge my companions and be challenged, and that opinions don't simply change overnight. There's development. There's so much satisfaction in the companion character arcs. Also some of the dialogue options are straight up FOUL in classic Larian Studios style. ok this is getting long sdksjlkds;
I can actually have consequences to my actions. Playing a good character FEELS good, rather than it being 'oh I need to please (companion) and I know this choice will help'. Some of the companion quests made me cry. I burst into tears at Astarion's. tbf I cry at everything but I just djnvhfadklcKLD;
I've done some wild shit... speaking of, I flung some at someone's face and started a fight. Walked into the barn and saved the situation by saying 'this smut would sell well in bookshops'. Got beaten to an inch of my life by a hottie who took a LOT of pleasure in my screaming, then I said I enjoyed it. Vandalised a portrait of Vlaakith... in front of Lae'zel. Shoved a man into lava. Got a statue of myself to put in camp. It's really big. And obnoxious.
I've only been playing one oc really, and that's Safaa. She's a seldarine drow and bard. She spent the entirety of her life living in a drow village in the Underdark, adopted by her mothers after her parents died under mysterious circumstances. Safaa meets her first love after a group of circus performers are waylaid on the road and seek refuge in her village. She's utterly enamoured by them, or rather their intimate knowledge of what the world looks like under sunlight. One of the performers, a young, handsome half-drow takes an interest in her.
He tells her about the world above. She tells him about her paintings. They walk arm in arm speaking of things meant only for each other, always giggling about inane things. She reads to him when the words don't make sense to him. He teaches her to play the flute, how to dance. She's young and infatuated with the first person to express romantic attention towards her. She believes she loves him. He stays with her in her village long after the other performers move on. He promises to take her to the surface, to show her the sun.
He doesn't get the chance. Their relationship doesn't get the chance to bloom. He dies. No one knows why. Bad luck, perhaps. And Safaa is utterly convinced it's her fault. People she loves seem to drop like flies around her. It must be her fault. She adopts a 'stay away from me, I only cause death' attitude and isolates herself from her family. She makes her way to the surface, but before she has the chance to cherish the sunlight, she's snatched onto the nautiloid.
She romances Astarion <3 she is the epitome of sunshine mired in guilt, and he's a vampire. Do you see the- do you see the vision do you s-

my feelings on the characters in the bg3 change completely depending on what playthrough i'm doing. for example my first playthrough i was romancing karlach with a tav who i designed kind of as a self insert of meaning she was pretty much just a regular person who got dragged into this adventure, and because i was and am so insane about karlach i was like 100% with her and playing it as if it were me myself undertaking this journey with her. so obviously i told gortash to fuck himself at every opportunity, like god i hated him so much every time he opened his mouth, all i was thinking about was him in relation to karlach and from the pov character who only knew him through her. but then i did a dark urge playthrough and i saw how gortash acts when he greeted my durge and i was like 'why is he kinda cute actually. in like a sweaty edgy emo boy looking hasn't slept for a week straight kind of way. and look at him smile he's so genuine and so happy to see his friend. he really wants to be friends again' and now i think i like him and meowmeow'd him in my brain

with regard to the question about bg: for one thing it depends on your computer, because mine’s pretty decent and bg absolutely destroys it. i have to restart it every couple of hours for the game to be playable at all in the latter 2/3 of it.
as for the gameplay, i know a lot of people who’ve never played dnd or anything and have had a lot of fun with it. i think the choice-based system can be really interesting. dark urge adds some mystery to your own character which is ALSO really fun (what i’m personally experimenting with rn). i genuinely think it’s a really fun game if you like to explore and problem-solve, but if puzzle/problem-solving isn’t your thing, then it’s probably not for you
and regarding wyll (you mentioned him in the tags and he’s my favorite. hi) i have to give you fair warning that some of his writing is really… either racist or distasteful, and also, despite how wonderful he is as a character, the writers constantly disregard him in favor of other characters who are less relevant in a lot of situations and it’s really infuriating if you go into it with him as the one you’re most interested in. i know this from experience. the fandom doesn’t help (AT ALL. but when does it ever.) but idk you may play it and love him extra out of spite like me 👍
the writing for some of the other characters (karlach and astarion are the ones i can especially speak to as of now) is REALLY good though. karlach is absolutely wonderful in a million ways and they give her a lot of development and focus, and astarion’s story is heartbreaking and a really well done example of breaking the cycle of abuse (if you play it right). honestly even just one of the two of their stories makes it worth it for me
tl;dr: it’s computer-hungry and the writing can be kind of janky sometimes but if you like problem-solving or choice-based gameplay, and you want to see a lot of really good characters with Similar Issues try to solve problems, it might be fun for you! sorry for the essay ✌️

sadly i am ass at problem solving so ill probably just have to watch someones BG3 wyll-romancing playthrough but i will meet him one way or another. im not actually interested in any of the women in specific (im neutral in that they seem fun but i hear nothing about them so i have no fucking clue what theyre like and im not really swayed by art of buff ladies or tits out pics. i am a nerd who likes 2 be hooked by lore) and astarion looks like the kind of character id bully for fun. but i will fucking meet wyll if tis the last thing i do

i am so hyperfixated on bg3 rn it's insane. but anyway i want to do so many playthroughs bc i want to play every origin character and also romance every character as dark urge (bc i love that scene in act 2 you get for resisting the urge and since i love every companion, i want to see that scene with all of them at least once) so i thought i'd share what playthroughs i want to do and who im gonna romance for that playthrough ! :))
Gale Origin - Romance Karlach (in progress)
Shadowheart Origin - Romance Lae'zel (in progress)
Wyll Origin - Romance Astarion (in progress)
Astarion Origin - Romance Wyll (in progress)
Karlach Origin - Romance Minthara (not started)
Lae'zel Origin - Romance Shadowheart (not started)
and then for dark urge, i want to romance every companion at least once, though for some characters i'll do it twice. like, shadowheart, astarion and lae'zel i will romance twice bc i want to do one good playthrough and one bad for each since they all have like two different paths you can take (like dark justiciar shadowheart/ turned away from shar shadowheart). i've only beaten the game once so far, and it was on my second playthrough. i played dark urge and romanced gale. it's funny bc i was in act 3 for my first save and was like "hey i might as well start dark urge since i've almost beat this regular playthrough" (i was romancing karlach btw,, i love her sm) but then i started my dark urge save and i though that dark urge was so much more fun that i completely forgot about my other save lol. now, when i make a custom character i only play as dark urge bc i just prefer it overall to the tav playthrough. so yeah it's pretty ambitious of me to plan all these different playthroughs when i've literally only beaten the game once lmao but im in act 3 for wyll origin, astarion origin and a dark urge playthrough where im romancing minthara (that one is on hold until her romance is fixed tho) and im in act 2 for another dark urge gale romance (i wasn't going to romance him again so soon but im literally obsessed lmao) and then im in act 1 for shadowheart origin, gale origin and dark urge but i haven't decided who to romance yet (im doing a no armor challenge run lol).
i would love to know if anyone else is planning on playing an origin character and who you're gonna romance ! :D
