What kind of pin machine are you using, and where did you get it? My brother likes doing the same thing with Pokemon cards but he got a garbo pin maker from Joann Fabrics. The machine arm snapped on him and it only successfully crimped the pin plastic to the metal back like one out of every five attempts...
I got my pin machine from Vevor website! It's Vevor brand and it's better to get it off the website, however they sold out of it at the moment because it's just tooooo good. They're like heavy duty industrial machinery. I got mine for a hundred bucks and it came with 1000 sets of button supplies. So like 3000 pieces to make buttons. It's a sexy deal.
It's a lot of elbow grease tho, so it's a strain on my tendinitis-y arms. I had to put my whole weight on top of the lever to get the images and metal to crimp completely over the plastic backing. (I thought my machine was broke but their customer service said, "Put more force into it, go as hard as you can. You won't break it.") When my family was here the kids couldn't get the thing completely crimped, even their mom couldn't do it. They made like 100+ buttons when they were here because it's so fun. A nice family activity...and a workout.
