NDIS Services in Ballina & Byron Bay
In the Ballina & Byron Bay Shire there are around 970 NDIS participants. Some local services include:
Positive behaviour support is an approach to addressing concerns through prevention rather than punishment. It involves a person-centred, flexible framework which may or not use restrictive practices. To know more about NDIS Services Ballina, visit the Dabba Mallangyirren website or call 0403856995.
The NDIS needs to lead cultural change and not replicate discriminatory structures. Otherwise it will fail to live up to its goals.
Generally, capacity building activities are a part of your core supports in the NDIS. Domestic cleaning and gardening services fall under this category, as well as other supports that allow you to live independently.
Your NDIS plan may also include funding for a Support Coordinator to help you use your supports and engage providers. Not everyone receives this support, but those who do can benefit from the guidance and advice they provide.
A wide range of community group programs are available through NDIS services in Ballina, Byron Bay and Lismore. Many are designed to improve social connections, but others have more specific goals. These can include developing life skills, preparing for employment, and finding or maintaining housing options. Some are aimed at reducing social isolation and loneliness. They might include mine craft groups, group tennis lessons and horse-riding sessions. Better measurement of provider outcomes and performance would help participants make informed choices, keep providers accountable and the scheme improving over time.
High Intensity Daily Personal Activities are a more complex support that can involve the care of some of the highest risk participants and workers. These supports are delivered under the direction and supervision of a health practitioner and require specific additional skills to ensure they are safe and effective.
Only staff who have completed LWB’s HIDPA eLearning modules and been assessed by an AQHP about their individual HIDPA support requirements can be rostered to deliver HIDPA. The Rostering Hubs will maintain records of HIDPA-trained staff and people who require HIDPA for rostering purposes.
This package is an efficient and affordable solution for service providers to become NDIS registered and compliant in alignment with registration group 104 – High Intensity Support Skills Descriptors. It is available in conjunction with our NDIS Certification Pack or as a standalone pack.
The NDIS provides funding to enable people with disability to spend more time with family and friends, have better access to the community, build new skills or find a job and improve their quality of life. The NDIS also offers a range of personal support to help with daily activities and living, including assistance with meals, grooming and bathing, mobility, and attending medical appointments.
NDIA’s Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits (previously the NDIS Price Guide) outline how prices for supports work in the NDIS. These can be found on the NDIS website.
Biala is an NDIS provider located in Ballina offering both in and out of home supports. This includes overnight residential care for children requiring behaviour support to stay away from their families home under the NDIS Child Safe Scheme. Other out of home services include group social and recreational support, such as AFTER SCHOOL CLUB. This is a fun and interactive session of social play focusing on social interactions, turn taking and sequencing.
There are a variety of services that are available to help you navigate the NDIS system. These include support coordination, which can be accessed through your NDIS plan. This service helps you understand your plan, connect you to supports and services, and build your independence.
You can also use your NDIS funding to get specialist assistance to manage challenges in your home or living environment. This type of support is referred to as specialist support coordination. This level of support is usually only available for people who have a complex situation or specific goals. To know more about NDIS Services Ballina, visit the Dabba Mallangyirren website or call 0403856995.
There are many different services available in Ballina. Some of them offer day programs, while others provide specialised overnight residential care or behaviour support for people with autism. Another large provider is CPL – Choice, Passion, Life, which has offices in Ballina, Byron Bay and Lismore. It also has beach wheelchairs for hire so that everyone can enjoy our beautiful Northern NSW beaches.

2021 Inverell Cup: Peter Sinclair-trained Upstart claims 10th career win | The Inverell Times | Inverell, NSW
Tumblr media
news, local-news,
Veteran Moree trainer Peter Sinclair joked that Upstart has "run himself out of me" after the eight-year old added the $37,000 XXXX Gold Inverell Cup (1400m) to his impressive resume. The 2019 Moree Cup winner was unfazed by carrying 62.5kg, bursting through in the straight and pulling away for an almost two length win over fellow Moree-trained Mysticism (Campbell Roberts). It was the gelding's first win since he won four-in-a-row, culminating in his home Cup, and the 10th from 35 starts. "I think he just run himself out of me," Sinclair commented to Sky Thoroughbred Central post-race. Pressed on what he meant by that, he elaborated: "Where do we go now with the weight?". Speaking pre-race, Sinclair had expressed some concern about Upstart's lack of racing. After finishing seventh of nine in his first start back from a 61-week spell at Coffs Harbour in late November, he had left him with Coffs trainer Brett Dodson hoping to get a couple more runs into him over there. But that never eventuated. First the Ballina race he had intended to start him in didn't get up due to a lack of nominations and then thinking that the Lismore meeting scheduled for December 22 wouldn't go ahead because of all the rain the coast had received (it did go ahead) they brought him home. "I said the other day to Brett, we've done the wrong thing, and he said 'look all the pain will be eased when he wins the Inverell Cup', so he was spot on," Sinclair said. The top weight by more than 3kg and drawing a tricky gate, he remarked on the Starcraft (NZ)-Cannarelle gelding's toughness. Jockey Matthew McGuren shared similar sentiments with Sky Thoroughbred Central post-race. "Finishing Card, I won a couple on him; he carried 63.5 one year to win it. This bloke he's not quite as big as Finishing Card but he's got a heart just the same size," he said. A couple of lengths back from the lead heading into the straight, he said when he asked him for that extra effort he found something. "He didn't travel all that great. Bugalugs can run along and he's a tough horse too, and I thought I was going to struggle to get past him but I got passed him sooner than I thought," he said. Sinclair had elected not to claim, opting instead for the experienced McGuren for what he described to Tony Megahey prior to the race as "a cunning old horse." "You've got to stand over him, he's a lazy old fella, but he's a good horse," Sinclair said. McGuren's third or fourth Inverell Cup, he was full of praise for Sinclair and the job he had done with the gelding. He had previously ridden him back when he was with Maryann Brosnan. "It's just a credit to him to turn him around and win these races," he said. "And big shout out to Brookey Stower. This is her horse." He joked that he's "only got him on loan" while Stower is out injured. Sinclair also paid credit to the Toowoomba jockey. She was the one that "made him want to race again". Upstart's win made it a double to celebrate the start of the new year for the pair with Solar Panel saluting two races earlier.

Race-by-race guide and tips for Grafton on Thursday
Race 2 C, G and E MAIDEN HCP (1106m) Now the boys turn, and this is break-through time for locally trained 2. Longta who has been placed five times from six starts. Best ridden a few lengths off the speed with cover, Ben Looker should be able to give this 5YO the decisive last crack in the straight. Dangers: Another perenial and locally trained placegetter after 16 starts, 3. Hashtag Hero will come over from a wider gate and has the fitness to be in the finish, while 7. Mustaknown resumed in good style on this track three weeks ago, and with previous form up to the mile, will be finishing hard. 10. Champagne Vega wasn't beaten far resuming as fav at the Gold Coast and will improve again. How to play it: Back Longta to win Race 3 BM 58 HCP (2215m) An even bunch with several chances, but keen on locally trained mare 8. Madam Kate at the weights and the big price. Has continued to hit the line nicely behind the placegetters in deeper races, and is screaming out for the longer trip. Dangers: 1. His Kyllachy backs up from the Tuncurry Cup where he finished off nicely from the back, but goes up steeply in weight, while the form of 3. Real Time Warrior is rock solid for this grade and will be in the finish if he gets even luck from a wide gate. How to play it: Back Madam Kate E/Way and Quinella with His Kyllachy Race 4 MAIDEN PLATE (1710m) Another open affair, but Armidale visitor 1. Acraman is suited under the compressed set weights scale and can finally crack his maiden third-up over a longer trip. Has hit the line nicely both runs this prep over 1400m and steps up at the right time. Dangers: The stablemate 2. Indisputable, while less suited at the weights, is improving all the time and will run this trip right out. Locally trained 3. King Of Monaco has to overcome a wide barrier but has the form and fitness to be in the finish. How to play it: Back Acraman to win Race 5 CLASS 2 HCP (1710m) Big field, but Murwillumbah mare 2. Mother To Race Her is the most progressive and generally came from the back in shorter trips early in her career. Has been costly in her last two at short quotes, but from a soft draw here and being by a Melbourne Cup winner, I have no doubt she'll be ridden quiet to get the trip and is the one to beat. Dangers: Lismore visitor 3. Peak Hill has won two of her last three, is nicely weighted and smashed the line last start in a similar race on this track, while 10. Stellar Jewel is a serious chance, and last-start winner 5. Queachy is bred to get further and will also be strong through the line. How to Play it: Back Mother To Race Her to Win and Box 2-3-5-10 in TRI Race 6 CLASS 3 HCP (1410m) This looks ideal for sparingly raced 2. Nothingforthepress who hit the line hard in a BM 66 on this track last start behind Dustman, who franked the form big time on Tuesday at Tamworth! Has a good aggressive rider aboard who will park him a few lengths off the speed and pounce in the straight. Dangers: 3. Vivid Pink upset Nothingforthepress last start and her form prior over similar trips was very solid, including beaten only 4.2 lens in a Randwick Highway, while 1. Arrestar comes out of some decent races and can improve third up. Big watch on 14. Tycoon Rossa who got home nicely resuming and is even better suited second up at 1400m with nice weight relief. How to play it: Back Nothingforthepress to win and Quinella with Vivid Pink Race 7 CLASS 1 HCP (1206m) Nice lead here from the strong Jenny Graham yard with lightly-raced 5. Foxy's Foxinator! Was scratched from what looked a suitable Class 2 at Taree on Sept 3 after being rolled as a short-priced favourite when he blew the start. Has been solid in the market every run, and the extra 200m suits big time.Dangers: Locally-trained 2. Aimalac Bulsa resumed with a nice effort and will also appreciate the extra trip 2nd-up from an inside draw, while 11. Toffee Drop and 14. Bettigood have both been in and around the money and should be included in Exotics. How to play it: Back Foxy's Foxinator to win and Quinella with Aimalac Bulsa Race 8 CLASS 1 HCP (1206m) Very thin and open, although two horses should fight it out. Port Macquarie visitor 7. Just Sizzling broke the maiden at his sixth career start coming from well back at Coffs Harbour and the extra trip should see him charging home again, while the form of French-bred and Gold Coast-based 8. Royal Equiano is solid and will get a lovely run on the "map" behind the speed. Dangers: Lightly raced 6. Fair Dinkum who broke his maiden at big odds second career start at Taree and finds a nice race over a slightly longer trip. How to play it: Box 6-7-8 in Exacta Race 9 BM 58 HCP (1106m) This sets up nicely for consistent 11. The Eulo Queen to notch her second win at 10th career start. Like most, still wondering how she didn't get the photo in a Class 1 on this track three weeks back after a dominant Maiden win at Ballina in late July. Dangers: 1. Dominant Crown was terrific coming from a mile back in a Rosehill Highway last start to be beaten under a length, but predictably carries a big weight here even with a 3kg claim and has a wide gate as well, while Ballina-trained 12. Limited has been consistent all prep and gets a lovely run on the map, and long-shot 13. I'll Take Money has been hitting the line nicely in similar grade. How to play it: Back The Eulo Queen to win Race 10 BM 58 HCP (1106m) Thin race but hard to go past the form of locally trained 7. Ilia who has won her last three and again drawn to sit right on the speed and launch early in the straight. Dangers: 2. Clang's Victory will get a nice run, with leading rider aboard, Ballina-trained 3. Passion To Win hasn't been far away in stronger races and with a 3kg claim gets a cosy run from the fence draw, while 5. Victory Lass has been consistent in a weaker grade, but also drawn to get a nice run in behind. How to play it: Back Ilia to win For more information, head to www.racingnsw.com.au. David Miller wins Rooney before Hall of Famer spoils double bid
May 27, 2017 | 11:55pm Modal Trigger David Miller drives Downbytheseaside to victory in the Art Rooney Final at Yonkers Raceway on Saturday. Mike Lizzi A pair of Hall of Famers were the big winners at Yonkers Raceway on Saturday night as driver David Miller won the $300,000 Art Rooney Final and Brian Sears won the $140,770 Lismore Final. Miller drove Rooney favorite Downbytheseaside (1-9) to a 3 ¹/₄ -length victory over Summer Side in 1:52, while Sears won his second Lismore with Tequila Monday (4-1) by 4 ³/₄ lengths over Agent Q. Miller and Downbytheseaside gained the lead at the quarter pole in the 27th edition of the race for 3-year-old male pacers, which pays homage to the late Steelers owner Art Rooney Sr., patriarch of the Rooney family. “He’s been a pretty solid horse last year and this year,” Miller said. “I thought he raced well. He got used a little more than I thought he would the second quarter, but he held up.” The Brian Brown-trained Downbytheseaside continued to pace strongly on the lead through the stretch to garner his third victory in three starts this season. Downbytheseaside ($2.10) gave Miller his third victory in the Rooney and Brown his first. In the Lismore, the companion race of the Rooney for 3-year-old filly pacers, Sears guided the Chris Oakes-trained Tequila Monday (4-1) from post position seven to an early spot at the rail, fourth behind favorite Agent Q (1-5) and Miller. Coming off the turn heading for the three-quarter pole, Miller moved Agent Q to the lead with Sears and Tequila Monday tracking their every step. Tequila Monday took the lead just past the three-quarter pole and pulled away from the field through the stretch to score her first victory in three starts this season. “I knew she had plenty of go and the trip worked out perfect,” Sears said. This was Sears’ second victory in the Lismore and it was the first victory for Oakes. Tequila Monday paid $10.60 to win. A stable hand must be able to follow directions and work independently. They must be comfortable working around large animals that can kick and bite.
