The "estate" Lily inherited turned out to be nothing more than a rundown cabin, clearly abandoned by her uncle long before his death. Whatever Lily had in mind for ranch life, this definitely wasn't it! She'll have to put in serious effort to restore it, and Lily doesn't exactly do "serious effort"...

Multiple-time Ultimate Horse Championship Winner and Hay Now! Equestrian Center lead Horse Trainer: Howdy folks. The name's Sienna Grove. You must be Coraleye and Tycho? Welcome to Hay Now! It's true that I'm the horse trainer here, but during your stay here in the beautiful town of Chestnut Ridge, I'll be training you, when it comes to all things horse-related.

Coraleye: Howdy, Sienna! [Friendly smiles, tips pretend cowboy hat] Thanks for agreeing to meet with us. We're very excited.

Sienna: Good, good! To start us off, do either of you two have any experience with horses?

Coraleye: Well I have some horse skills, I grew up as a scout. Tyke? Tycho: [Nervously] Never seen a horse in my life. They're banned where I grew up.

Sienna: Ah. [Nods knowingly] Well not to worry. During your stay here, you'll be trading in your automobile for a pair of well-trained horses. It's a program we've developed to help train our horses and familiarize them with beginners. So they have experience with riders of all skill levels. Tycho: Even if there is no skill level? Sienna: Yes sir. Now if you follow me, [begins walking] we'll find you two the perfect match to accompany you during your stay in Chestnut Ridge.

Sienna led Coraleye and Tycho into the stables of the equestrian center, where rows of horses behind gated enclosures stood serenely.

As the group enters the stables, Sienna secures the latch on the sliding barn doors, closing them behind her. Suddenly, all of the horses startle, jumping and bucking their feet in the air, and neighing frantically in a panic. Sienna has heard stories of such behavior, but witnessing it in person is a first for her. Sienna approaches one of the enclosures and reaches in to console one of the trembling mares.

Sienna: Popcorn... What has gotten into you, lady? You usually love making new friends.

She continues leading Coraleye and Tycho down the line, attempting to find any horse willing to interact with them. They seem to somewhat let their guard down when Coraleye pets them, but cower in fear when Tycho approaches.

Sienna: I've never seen them act like this before. I don't know... Are you nervous or something, man? Tycho: I mean, I've never been around them before, but I don't feel particularly nervous about them. Coraleye: Horses can really pick up our body language, and if you're feeling tense or fearful, it can make them uncomfy. Just take a deep breath! Sienna: Not my usual style, but your e-mail got me hooked. You guys are cute together. We have some horses across the street, not usually part of the program. There's a special pair I think might be just right for you. Let's give them a try, shall we?

I'm finally ready to play with Horse Ranch. The sim's backstory is below the cut.

The Johnson Family

Dallas Johnson and Charlie Monroe we college sweethearts. They met during an LGBT club meeting and hit it off right away. After college, they spent a few years in San Myshuno being carefree like young sims should. Dallas and Charlie liked being carefree but wanted to raise a family and neither of them felt San Myshuno was the right place for them to do that.

They moved to San Sequoia, a suburb of San Myshuno, with the little money they were able to save. Dallas was more thrilled about the area than Charlie, he loves the outdoors and there were so many lovely wooded areas around their neighborhood. A few years after moving to San Sequoia they adopted Wyatt. Wyatt was a shy child but Charlie was able to bond with him effortlessly they were nearly inseparable until Dallas and Charlie adopted Simone. The children connected instantly. Dallas was thankful the children got along so well, it meant he got his husband back and family activities were always joyous.

Life was really good for a while then tragedy struck and Charlie died suddenly. Dallas was devastated and it made him withdraw from his children. What was once a close family bond grew very distant. Dallas did his best for the children but living in the home he built with Charlie was too much. In his grief, he decided that moving somewhere slower would be just what they all needed to reconnect as a family.
