Something funny happened last weekend
A friend from out of town wanted to tag along for a hunter pace so I said “sure” and got permission to bring one of my horse’s fieldmates for her.
He’s an Icelandic horse named Blaer.
In the warm-up ring, I hear a man ask my friend “is that a Chincoteague pony?”
And I’m thinking, no, that’s a strange guess, Chincoteague ponies [left below] look nothing like Icelandic horses [right below]
My friend on Blaer answers “he’s an Icelandic” and the man looks shocked and delighted. He points to another horse in the arena and says “my daughter over there is riding Gus, a Chincoteague Pony. He was still wild a year and a half ago.”
And y’all. I was not expecting to see what could be Blaer’s full sibling. But lo and behold:
One of these horses was born wild in Virginia, USA. The other was born wild somewhere in Iceland.
I’ll let you guys try to guess which is which.

i think there's something wrong with this horse
turned vexter into a pony because. funny.
artificial hologram pony created to help with various tasks in a futuristic version of the setting. in classic mlp fashion, they ended up gaining both immense power and a severely fucked up view of how love and friendship work, in their case hinging on the idea that they have to be constantly needed by everyone. probably ends up 'reformed' in this version lmao
didn't get its cutie mark the normal way due to not really being a pony. keeps a pop-up window there to meet expectations, though more tend to appear when it's distracted, overwhelmed, or having its code messed with.
may or may not be able to mess with its appearance, though they present as a unicorn by default to make their digital/holographic tricks look like regular magic.

you know what, fuck it, actually, maybe the reason my traitorous Latin student heart cares about vane is that he's. the aeneas of the piece.
flint is so smart and so cunning and so /wily/, always six steps ahead, master manipulator, can talk his way into and out of anything. loses significant parts of his crew on the regular bc that's not his priority. he has an overarching goal and nothing can make him forget it and he'll kill you to get there and he'll also let you die on accident because whoops, failed experiment, but let's try it again. wily odysseus.
but vane is the aeneas to that. brutal, straightforward. not clever, but stalwart. the one /getting/ manipulated. sees the bigger picture, but easily distracted by (a) pretty face(s). ultimately here for the people around him: protect and provide for your own, everything else is secondary. bull-headed and merciless but guided by some weird twisted internal moral compass that only he is aware of. the worst, but in a distinctly different way from flint, who is also the worst.
hate that they're getting me in my classics sensibilities, that feels. unfair.

You're such a good artist and you've convinced me about Baatar being horse-coded. I'm curious what horse!Baatar looks like.
First off thank you so much you're so sweet ;; <3
Second, I'm so glad my horse-coded Baatar propaganda is working, you have no idea how long I've been ready to answer this.
Let us begin with our steed in question:
- Lightly smokey copper bay warmblood: [ selle francais x holsteiner ]
- Long star on his face and dainty little amounts of pastern white
- Roached mane with minimal forelock so he looks like a velociraptor
- 100% constantly at the ready to kick someone in the fucking face
- Well known for whipping people in the face with his tail
He'd absolutely be a sporty warmblood very much crushing the 5 star eventing scene. He's bougie and sensitive and ornery. His best discipline is cross country he's got the speed, stamina, and agility, second is show jumping as he sometimes gets a bit cramped in smaller indoor arenas, and then dressage. He isn't bad at dressage he's just prone to throwing a fit when something upsets him, like he will yank the reins out of your hands if he gets annoyed with your direction or if someone's phone starts ringing he'll stop dead and look around to see who it was so that they'll feel embarrassed lolol. And as good at eventing as he is it takes him like 45 minutes to wake up so if you don't prepare early, you WILL be late.
He's the sort of horse that makes you question who owns who in this situation because if his needs aren't perfectly met he will yell and scream until someone comes to attend to him.
Bonus: Custom embroidered blanket because he will still serve tactical fashion even as a horse and also he hates getting dirty.
