definitely the thing I miss most about living in the US is the random wildlife I would see even around my own neighbourhood. Last time I was there I saw a coyote a few streets from my dad's house which was amazing. But I would regularly see bald eagles, great blue herons, hummingbirds, seals, salmon, obv raccoons (this doesnt seem that crazy now but when I moved there raccoons were an exotic animal to me bc i'd seen it in pocahontas. it was like seeing jasmine's tiger in ur garden). more rarely I've seen sea lions, a porpoise, and once everyone in the neighbourhood gathered to see a snowy owl that was in a tree, that was a Big Moment

#only thing here are wild boars. and not in the city although in the suburbs u will see them tap tapping around on their little high heels #also a grey whale got stuck in the harbour in seattle once but i didnt see him :( #honestly its mad that most of my best wildlife sightings have been... within a few miles from my house. and i lived IN the city #a residential area but still #nothing will ever beat seeing a wild musk ox in alaska though. that moment changed me #my friend claims she saw a cougar in a seattle suburb which is WILD if true i would be terrified #ive seen orcas (my beloveds) and a few types of whales but mostly on whalewatching trips
