Moloch, being a demon, would have to be considered a fallen angel. Some angels were noted to have wings and beautiful complexions. Though Moloch biblically is in the Book of Leviticus, and was known for his child sacrifices.

He would have had his wings when he took shape as a demon, trapping the faithless in his grasp so they could not escape hell. Using the wings like an unpassable flaming gate. He had been collecting people to kill, tear apart, and drag down to the eternal furnace of endless suffering. During that time, he may have met Father Gregor for the first time. He knew the fathers name, but not the other way around. Their confrontation would have resulted in Moloch losing his wings, Gregor allowing the people who end up in his claws to have a chance to see the holy light of God.

(HE also could have encountered another priest in his time)

This makes Moloch desperate, more aggressive. He has no certain way to contain the mortals he wants and despises the father, causing him to flee.. maybe being sent back to hell or hiding somewhere else. Either way, moloch had lost his wings to someone he would meet again.

Their interaction makes it look like they delt with each other before, but as a quick interaction.. until the events of SM6 with Moloch's whole shebang started
