I think S&L will get cancelled and i am so sad about it. I mean what chance do they with all the other shows that got the axe?

After the recent cancellation of Stargirl, I'm a tad (more) anxious about that, too, nonnie. :/

I don't even know why Nexstar bothered to buy shares of CW (and effectively taking over) if their goal was to kill the whole thing anyway? Like, what's the point???

My only hope is, that S&L would have a somewhat decent chance to be picked up by another network (HBO/HBO Max, this is your chance!) bc it's so well received (2022 SATURN AWARDS winner ✨) and they manage to make it look amazing on a rather small (in comparison to some other shows relying equally heavy on FX/CGI effects) budget.

But yeah, currently things look bleaker than before they axed Stargirl. I don't want to lose the show. I love it SO MUCH! And Hoech is my boo, and he's playing my favorite superhero of all time to perfection. And Bitsie is his perfect match and the most excellent Lois. 🥺

I'd legit be SO upset if the show would end after only 3 seasons. Keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed, that they'll keep the show, or if they don't want it anymore, that another network will step in and take over. 🤞

Let's face it, going back to TW is not career progression, and I don't know what Hoech is thinking. Supes&Lois is middling (it ain't Wandavision/Peacemaker/Doom Patrol/the Boys) but it's a good gig... above the cw at least. Is the $ worth returning to a throwaway teen show that will be immediately forgotten at best, mocked at worst. Dylan has the right idea: appreciate your big break and be grateful, but move on and build a career with upward trajectory. (and avoid shows where your name will be used in articles about racism and pay disparity)

I don't think going back for this movie will effect Hoechlin's career/image. Honestly, the Superman & Lois fandom seems very small & the people on twitter who are part of it don't seem to even know that Hoechlin used to be on Teen Wolf, nor do they care.

Week 8 Reflections

VISUAL PRINCIPLES: HARMONY, CONTRAST, REPETITION, UNITY

Aside from the use of these principles to achieve a more visually pleasant look, I found it interesting how harmony, contrast, repetition and unity can be used to deliver the quality of the intended message itself.

For example, Harmony and Contrast can work to evoke certain moods/feelings about a piece of work. Hannah Hoech’s collage involved the use of many fragmented, conflicting images that suggested chaos, which may have served to reflect the sociopolitical setting at that time. In comparison, Megan Walch’s Eschatalogue #1 features contrasting colours that blend harmoniously together to produce a flowing, contemplative effect, which each colour contributing its own tune to the chorus. Harmony and Contrast can be used to contribute to narrative development as well. For example, the contrast in size between Alice and the room she is in, in Alice in Wonderland.

Andy Warhol also made use of repetition and rhythm in his work Soup Cans. His use of repetition drained meaning from the object, and made the overall work mundane and devoid of emotional resonance. Aside from repetition being merely a visual principle, the use of repetition in Warhol’s work engaged with the sociocultural context at that time. It combined images from consumerism and mass production, and turned the most ordinary of objects (soup cans) into art, challenging many art patrons at that time.

Finally, it was also interesting to see how human’s natural scanning pattern within rectangular forms plays out in how images are presented in art. Putting text end to end can lead eyes off the edge, while placing it in the middle can provide more breathing space and keep eyes within the frame.

Ok so this is irrelevant but there was a discussion of Tyler Hoechlin being gay and I’m just gonna say, I get more of a bisexual-but-starting-to-lean-more-towards-men vibe from him. Am I crazy. Cuz I also feel like Colton is his kinda sexuality tour guide and while I don’t think they like each other, I think Colton helps him explore it non sexually, like as a friend introducing someone to the community.
