Pattern matching a large repeat can be daunting but closely spaced pins can help a lot. I'm playing a romantic lead this evening in She Stoops to Conquer. I haven't done that in a while! This waistcoat had no shape because I cut it out so long ago that I wasn't sure how shape worked. The waist was so loose that it would shift around when I wore it, and the whole thing felt so dowdy and awkward that I would only wear it when I needed to be very warm. ErMerGerd this took so long. I didn't need the entire brocade pattern just enough to get the pattern to repeat as it should. I had to print at 105% for some reason. Pressing is important but so too is keeping fabric carefully folded between working. This @sartorbohemia fabric is quite easy to store due to the weft being so firm. So I fold it vertically as the layers then reduce creases in the warp. Those round folds do crush so I have a storage box and it sits on the top. But this also reduces crushing of linen/ramie type fabric. Compare the skirt pieces to the scrap for the bodice. Next step is to press the joins. I'm cheating a little as I'm using my actual floor to waist measure with turning but that's still within my wider theory of the manuals. 💂🏻‍♂️Ufficiali col mantello bianco nel Risorgimento. . 🐎Solo gli ufficiali dei dragoni e dei corazzieri, la cosiddetta cavalleria pesante, avevano cappotti bianchi e, in caso di pioggia la mantella sempre bianca da sovrapporre. . 🎥La filmografia più classica, dai film di Sissi a Senso, ha proposto ufficiali in mantello un po' per tutte le armi, dalla fanteria alle generalità. Creando un po' di confusione. . 🧥In età napoleonica i mantelli erano più diffusi e, fuori ordinanza, potevano con maggior facilità completare l'uniforme di ufficiali delle varie armi, soprattutto tra il 1798 e il 1809, periodo in cui fanteria e cavalleria avevano, per gli ufficiali, distinzioni davvero minime. . ❓Quindi cosa indossavano gli ufficiali di tutte le altre armi nel Risorgimento? Cappotti grigio scuro, così scuro che per i reparti con distinzioni nere era prescritto di apporle in velluto affinché si distinguessero. . 🌧️Per la pioggia era prevista una mantella da sovrapporre al cappotto, per i kepì dei teli creati.
