I’ve started designing the Cientials.  Im still kind of ironing out how exactly it is that they uhhhhh work?  I guess?  More like uh okay hold on
So a Ciential is a unit based being that patrols Silarian owned space, basically an entire galaxy, making sure no one is trespassing into Silarian space.
So essentially they’re four(at least, sometimes more) spirits that have been destabilized and put together.
When moving through space they kind of look like a giant smooth crystal??? with a point of light on it that also serves as an eye.  I’ve been drawing them traditionally, but I can’t access my scanner right now, other wise I would show rather than attempt to shoddily explain.
For when they don’t look like a ship, I want them to tradition away from that look by folding out from glass shards that are coloured, but see-through, and can move through each other.  That’s a little hard to describe(and to drawwww) Then those shards will move into a basic outline of their body, morph into a basic crystalline structure of their body, then finally morph into a final version of their body.
I don’t know if their physical form will change based on who’s leading maybe?  Spirits already change based on their mood, so obviously the cientials would as well.  But they are a unit creature, they experience things together.  They’re might not even be a leader, they might just function as one person.  I actually kind of like that better.
As they are a collective being of spirits, they’re going to have a lot of eyes, more than just a normal spirit would have.  Im experimenting with some of their designs having them on places other than their face.  I have one sitting next to me right now that has about six eyes on their chest. I’m also giving them lots of arms, it just makes the most sense to me.  It’s actually kind of freeing, because i feel like i can make them look like anything i want, it doesn’t matter.
On another note, I have the whole Dracoth thing.  They’re basically a natural, but failed, two spirit ciential.
I kind of want a scene to go like this at some point:
So during the cloning arc im planning Meilien is gonna pick up this kid, this renegade spirit.  He’s run away from the Observatory.  At some point he’s complaining about how he doesn’t want his life planned out for him.  Meilien says she agrees with him, but he needs to understand that they don’t live in a time where every spirit can just do whatever they want.  It isn’t like that anymore.  She tells him that at the very least, he’s not a ciential.  His position makes him most likely to have the most freedom a spirit can have these days.
Bleau asks what a ciential is, it’s explained.
Bleau asks Meilien if anyone has ever tried to separate a ciential. She’ll reply that no one had ever tried.  There’s no reason to.  Bleau asks if it’s at all similar to Dracoth, and their predicament. She explains, yes, it is.  However, while they are natural, they are also technically failed and as such are considered a danger.  People find them monstrous, so they are not very popular.  Cientials are not typically looked at as individuals, either.  They are treated as tools.  They perform a job and are only spoken to when necessity strikes.  Other spirits don’t tend to think of them as people, so the idea of something in the middle between the two of them is rather disturbing to them.
