Magitober 2022 14. Neo Magius - Himena Aika

General Thoughts on Himena: The unique BGM was good (very Super Mario Sunshine-y? curious choice), everything before the ending was fine if not somewhat stationary, it would have been a passable transformation if not for that god awful ending frame, they did her sooooo fucking dirty, i'm getting legit heated up just thinking about it.

Stupendous design, although I wish the sleeve color matched her top color. The water orb attack is kinda lame (could have made it heart shaped?), but her blast attacks are cool. Emo😭💧😔Love💖💕💗Aqua⛲💧🌊Bomb💥💣🧨

Her Doppel has some creative parts but is overall very ugly and lame. Her VA is very fun, kyaha~ 💫

I haven't been keeping very good track of how Arc 2 progresses, but Himena is a very fun and cool villain-turned-good. #1 cutie in the entire world <3

Future MagiReco playable Alt predictions

1. Kyoko alt

As of July 2021, everyone else in the Holy Quintet has two alts while Kyoko has one, so by the law of averages she will get one at some point.

2. Ribbon/Devil Homura

Both of these will have come out one day, perhaps when Madoka movie 4 comes out.

(It’s not a matter of if, but when).

3. Kimochi Ao

In the same vein as Holy Mami, Rumor Tsuruno, and Holy Alina: a transformed state that appears in the Main Story.

4. Karin (Halloween)

It would be blasphemous for the magical girl born of Halloween not to be given a Halloween Alt eventually.

What would it look like? A witch motif? Kirin cosplay?

5. Mifuyu (Coming-of-Age ver.)

She has a wintery motif, her name can be written as "beautiful winter" (美冬), her family owns a traditional kimono store: she fits perfectly for a New Year's unit.

It would make even more sense if hers was for Coming-of-Age Day rather than Haregi, because surviving to adulthood is one theme she and Yachiyo share. (Yachiyo could also be given a Coming-of-Age costume, the way Tsuruno was given a Tanabata costume but not an Alt).

6. Sayaka (Mermaid ver.)

7. Final Holy Alina

This is a possibility because the final form Holy Alina fights with isn’t a unit yet.

I have seen many predictions of this to be a Christmas unit for 2021, to coincide with the events in Final Season of the Magia Record anime.

8. Himena (Tanabata)

Her backstory with "Hiko-kun" is obviously based on the tale of Orihime and Hikoboshi, and her aesthetic is reminiscent of the holiday.

Watch this Alt be called “Orihime ver.” Or something.

9. Emiri (Valentine's)

She has a strong heart motif. Maybe her event will revolve around matchmaking?

10. Mito (St. Patrick's)

Because she has a clover/clubs motif. LOL

11. Ren (Halloween)

She has motifs of death and ghosts and similar things, which can be related to Halloween.

12. Ashley (4th of July)

I was running through a list of possible holidays for Alt units and this popped into my head.

Edit: BTW, in case it wasn't clear, this one is a joke, like Mermaid Sayaka. It popped into my head because I was listing holidays throughout the year and I'm American.

13. Hagumu (Hinamatsuri ver.)

There's that one Memoria of her making dolls for Girls' Day, which is a Japanese holiday without a related Alt for any Magia Record girls.
