Nine is obviously a tragic character but he's also self-centered. He leaves the resistance to die so he can have his perfect world, and despite his anger towards Sonic for not considering his wants, Nine also assumes they both want the same thing and lashes out when this doesn't turn out to be the case.

He's so fixated on his own pain that he ignores that of others. Nine doesn't care if other worlds die as long as he gets the happy childhood that was robbed from him. He is the epitome of "I suffered so why shouldn't they?"
