funniest and most heartwarming thing i rediscovered on my rewatch is when karin roasts sakura about poisoning naruto and then kakashi, who loves all of his kids very much and understands their behavior and isn’t upset with them about their choices but has also been under ABSURD amounts of stress for all of season 10, just bursts out laughing ❤️
#naruto#pan watches naruto#(again)#*#and in that moment karin became his new favorite#god i could say so much about the wind-down from the sasuke confrontation and how much i love it#kakashi's transition between the most horrific experience he's had in years#(where he thought he was going to have to kill one of his own kids)#and his return to the village (where's he's expected to take on the role of hokage at the outset of the fourth great ninja war)#is him walking six children home#one of whom he's carrying on his back#all of whom are laughing and bickering and teasing each other and acting like rowdy middle-schoolers#and there's such a feeling of peace to it#after being trapped in a situation that was so violently contrary to everything kakashi is and everything he wants#this whole experience of walking rambunctious kids home while they laugh and joke and screech at each other is so.  life-affirming for him#and i don't choose that word casually:#kakashi tried to kill himself after that confrontation with sasuke.#i forgot about that until we rewatched it last week#'sakura - watch over my body'#he was going to sacrifice himself to take 'madara' out with kamui and stop the fourth war before it even started#but then it didn't work out that way (again) and he didn't die (again) and this whole extended denouement with the kids -#who are so alive; who are so silly; who make him laugh -#is SO significant because taking care of children is what saved him years ago and it's what resurrects him now#being forced to raise a hand against one of his own children almost killed him earlier#but now he's stumbling out the other side and the sun is shining and there's this other gaggle of children under his care#and they're laughing and playing with each other and it's like#it's not over.  it's not over yet.#not for him.  not for them.#and not for sasuke either.#they're all still alive and there's still hope!

I love the way you write obito pov, so for my prompt I'd like to ask: how about obito pov from their kamui fight? I can't imagine the amount of dread and anxiety he must've felt when the akatsuki cat was out of the bag and kakashi's reaction to it... He should've taken his 3 day vacation...
I put off working on this because it is such an important scene in KB and I wanted to do Obito's perspective of it justice. But today the mood was just right for some angst and anxiety and putting our boy in the impossible position of hurting the person he loves to help the person he loves. Hopefully you like it anon!
Kamui Blues prompt request #10 (previous requests), Obito PoV of the Kamui Fight, plus a bit beforehand. 1196 words, T-rated, Angst and Painn
Obito did what he needed to. He talked to Sasuke; made him aware of his brother’s sacrifice. Saw the light in Sasuke’s eye return with his rage now directed to Konoha. Talked to Zetsu afterwards. Told him that everything was going perfectly to plan.
“You’re distracted, Madara-sama,” said Black Zetsu. Zetsu tended to keep up the act when they talked. Reminding Obito that he was Madara, that he was Tobi, that he was the former Mizukage, and in the end, that he was nobody at all. But it was a pointless exercise. From the first time Kakashi had sent that tree through, Obito had stopped being nobody and gone back to being Obito. Everything else now just some finely tuned act.
“He needs to be eliminated.”
Obito felt sick. He felt hemmed in by the stone walls in the Mountains Graveyard. The light was so much harsher than Kamui. He wanted to be back there, with Kakashi. Joking about some ridiculous thing that Naruto had said. Sparring. Reading together.
It would never happen again.
“Madara-sama,” Black Zetsu said. “The Copy Nin takes your focus from your life purpose.”
“I know,” he snapped. Did they think he was senile like the old man whose name he had stolen? He knew exactly how much Kakashi had settled into his mind just like he settled into his dimension. The hours he’d spent watching Kakashi in Konoha or just basking in his presence in Kamui. He was hopelessly lost on him. It had passed the point of absurdity months ago and was now well into tragic hilarity. He barely thought about the Eye of Moon Plan while in Kamui, and he couldn’t even concentrate properly when in Akatsuki meetings. Mind always drifting back to Kakashi. Using the perfect recall of his Sharingan to remember Kakashi’s stupid crinkled-eye smile. His body moving like a dancer as he playfully countered Obito’s punch. The tipsy flush across his cheeks under dusk light when he looked at Obito and called him Companion.
“Tobi,” said White Zetsu placatingly. “This is for you. We want to help you fix the world.”
And he did have to fix the world. Zetsu was correct: Infinite Tsukuyomi was his life’s purpose, and Kakashi was an undeniable distraction. Obito had to remember that everything, everything, was for Kakashi and Rin. He loved them, and he had to give them their world back as it should always have been.
In this worthless world, it was only natural that Kakashi should have discovered Obito in the worst possible way. That the betrayal that crossed Kakashi’s face in the clearing would have made Obito want to fall to his knees and desperately beg for forgiveness, in front of everyone, trashing his act, ruining everything.
It was only right that in this awful world, he should hurt this much.
“He must be eliminated,” Black Zetsu rasped. “I will do this for you, Mada—”
“Don’t you dare,” he said, and now he was standing inches away from Zetsu, killing intent rearing up hot at the thought of anyone trying to hurt Kakashi.
Zetsu stared back at him, and Obito forced himself to shutter his killing intent and step away, uncomfortable at the fathomless expression on his dual-sided face. Zetsu was very smart. He was Madara’s will, after all. It was not good to show him the extent of Obito’s emotions for Kakashi.
“There’s no need to be concerned,” he told Zetsu, making his voice cold and distant. His Madara persona. “The plan is my central goal, as it always has been. I will take care of Kakashi.”
He swirled away to Kamui, intending to take some time to plan his next steps. To figure out what in the Sage he could do to keep Kakashi safe when Zetsu, the wily fuck whose abilities he still didn’t fully understand, wanted his head.
But in the end there was no time to plan, because here was Kakashi, dressed to the nines in his ANBU uniform, Hound mask and all. Dressed quite literally to kill.
He didn’t even want an explanation; as he clashed his tanto against Obito’s steel bar, all he demanded was information. That, too, dug into Obito with a rusty hook and yanked at his heart. Now that Kakashi knew his Kamui buddy was Akatsuki, he’d cast him aside except for the value he had as an informant. He rejected their year of history together; considered it meaningless. Just like before, in Team Seven, he dismissed Obito. He didn’t care.
Kakashi sheathed his tanto and pulled out two kunai and came at him, and fuck, this was much worse, because this was just like any of their spars, but Kakashi had none of the warmth that had drawn Obito to him like a moth dazed by the brilliance of the light.
“Why aren’t you trying?” Kakashi growled.
Why wasn’t he trying? He was trying with everything he had not to fall apart, because he was so close to fixing this world. Kakashi had said at the Uchiha hideout that Obito didn’t understand what it meant to want to protect someone, but that had always been his goal, the guiding purpose behind every single one of his actions, and he had to keep going, no matter what…
“Why aren’t you?” Obito replied, because it was true: Kakashi was icy cold to him, but none of his attacks were aiming at Obito’s vital spots. “You can’t be the Hound without killing intent, Kakashi.”
He twisted away from Kakashi’s kunai, then swung his foot out and caught Kakashi under the jaw, flipping him upward and knocking his Hound mask off in the process. It clattered on the floor as Kakashi thumped to the ground. Obito moved toward him as Kakashi flipped back up to a crouch, but he froze when he saw the expression on Kakashi’s face. Saw the eyes bloodshot and wide, the eyebrows drawn tight together, the deep lines knit across his forehead and temples.
He’d been wrong: Kakashi did care. He cared about what they had lost — what Obito had caused them to lose — and now Kakashi wasn’t just sad. He was grief-stricken. He was anguished.
Kakashi formed Raikiri and came at him, and Obito didn’t bother to move away or counter it. The days of wanting Kakashi to suffer were long gone. Now he hurt when Kakashi hurt, and there was nothing Kakashi could throw at him that would bring him more pain than the pain he’d just caused Kakashi.
But Kakashi stopped, the dancing lightning inches from his chest.
“Why?” Kakashi asked, voice cracking. “Why did you lie?”
And something in Obito broke further at that sentence, because Kakashi so rarely allowed himself to be vulnerable with people, and here he was again, showing Obito everything, after everything.
Kakashi’s pain crystallised Obito’s thoughts. He knew what he was going to do.
Kakashi deserved an explanation, so he would get an explanation. And Kakashi was vulnerable to Zetsu outside of Kamui, so he wasn’t going outside of Kamui. Obito would keep Kakashi safe in their shared space until Infinite Tsukuyomi. And when the world was fixed, when Kakashi had his dream, Obito would never be able to hurt him again.

A scenario where the Tobi and Zetsu are about to invade a small village as a mission for the Akatsuki, and the reader is a shinobi that sacrifices herself to try to save it?
Hope you like it! Sorry it took so long. Thank you for the request! The Reader’s Sacrifice
In the dark of night, while the birds were asleep and onlythe sound of the breeze could be heard rustling leaves, did a vortex appear.Tobi tipped-toed out into the summer’s night from his kamui. He gazed aroundslowly, his back hunched like a cat burglar on the prowl.
A shadow from behind Tobi emerged quietly from the softdirt.
“You’re late,” a deep voiced mumbled, highly annoyed.
Tobi jumped straight up in a comedic fashion, nearly lettingout a yelp. Tobi turned to face Zetsu, knowing the deep voice belonged to BlackZetsu that appeared agitated. White Zetsu was unperturbed by Tobi’s actions asTobi straightened himself to respond to his partner in this mission.
“Tobi is never late! Tobi is right on time,” Tobi cheered inthe dead of night.
Black Zetsu let out a notable growl. “Is it necessary foryou to put up this charade? We’re alone.”
“I rather fond of this side of Tobi,” White Zetsu commented, his voice calmer than his other half.
“Now where is this village we ought to destroy? I’m sure youalready scoped the place out, right Zetsu-sama?!” Tobi chided, looking everywhich way for the small village.
Black Zetsu sighed, realizing “Tobi” was going to keepacting this way. White Zetsu readily answered Tobi’s question, pointing the wayto the small village. Tobi took off right away, skipping along the pathmerrily.
Tobi stayed quiet while skipping, knowing this mission wasof utmost importance and he did not want to alert the target to his presence.Tobi and Zetsu had supposed orders from Pein to investigate a small village dueto rumors that the village was planning to unleash a jutsu of mass destruction.A jutsu that would halt Pein’s plans of creating a World of Peace.
Obito rolled his eyes at that under his mask. Pein’s visionof peace was not the same vision that Obito had in mind, but the little Peinknew the better. This small village and their desperate need for attentionamongst the Great Five Nations, was going to put a hamper in both Pein andObito’s plans if they unleashed a powerful jutsu. That’s why Obito was here toput a stop to it. No one was going to stop him from seeing Rin again.
When the small village’s walls were near, Tobi stopped to acrawl. He slowly placed each of his feet forward, watching and listening. Therewere guards along the wall, but none seemed too observant. Obito was not at allconcerned by the outward appearance of this village. It hardly seemed like athreat, Obito thought, but that did not mean they were powerless.
Zetsu slowly emerged from the tree beside Tobi, nearly scaringhim once again.
“Twelve guards in total,” White Zetsu informed, watching thewall.
“Tell me where all of them are,” Tobi instructed, but hisvoice dipped low into his Madara’s charade.
Zetsu did as he was commanded and informed Tobi where each guardsmanwas before Tobi disappeared into his kamui.
Only a few minutes later did Tobi reappear beside Zetsu, blood drenching the tips of his sleeves.
“Find for me where the jutsu wielder lives,” Tobi requestedstill pretending to be Madara.
Zetsu did as he was told and vanished into the ground to goinvestigate.
Obito immaterialize and rematerialized at the top of thevillage’s wall. His observant eye taking in the stillness of the village.Nearly everyone was in a deep sleep and only a whisper of old wood creakingcould be heard until a rather indisputable gasp sounded beside him.
Obito turned to the right of him at the sound, seeing ashell-shock, ashen face before him. You quickly drew a dagger from your hip, your hands unsteady.
You gulped at his presence, your eyes lingering on the bloodsplattered on his clothes. Obito had no doubt that you had realized he hadkilled your fellow clan members. Obito had his sharingan activated; he wasprepared to shut you down if you even had the gull to yell for help.
“Are… are you the devil…?” you questioned nervously, yourvoice barely above a whisper.
Obito paused at that. It was not a comment he was expectingto hear and he has never been compared to such ideals. Obito turned fullytowards you, taking in your whole stance and attire. Obito saw you were of someshinobi standing within this village, judging by your slash across your shoulders.
“Why have you come?” you quipped, when the silence enduredand he did not respond.
Obito knew Zetsu needed more time and decided he would tryto gain information from you.
“A jutsu rumored to hold destructive forces. I heard itresides in this village,” Obito declared in his Madara’s voice.
Your eyes widened at the news and a look of understandingcrossed your features. You knew your village’s boastful proclamation was going todraw attention and not entirely the good kind of attention either. You knewyour options were limited, but you had to try to settle this without it comingto a brawl. You wanted the casualties to be as minimal as possible, hoping tosalvage your village from their stupidity.
“That jutsu is only rumored. There is no great jutsu here. Please I’ll let you leave, despite whatever damages you have done, if you gonow.”
You could only hope to barter. You knew you were not capableof taking this kind of man down. A man who was bathed in the blood of yourfellow clan members and friends. You were only merely a chunin, a newlypromoted chunin at that. You held your stare even with the masked man, hoping if anything that he would leave. If he did not leave, there was no otherchoice but to warn as many as you can.
“Hm… not likely,” Obito spoke slowly, noticing your changeof demeanor at his words.
Right as you drew in a deep-seated breath to yell, the maskman appeared before you, silencing your attempt. Air left your lungs at the impact as yourarms clung onto the man’s dark cloak. Your eyes grew wide in shock as bloodpoured from your stab wound that was poised right below your chest, dampeningyour clothes.
Blood began to spew down the corners of your mouth as youtried to speak. Obito watched for the light to drain out of your eyes as yousought his eyes desperately behind the mask. You struggled to form coherentwords from amongst the blood in your mouth.
“Please…. Spare…. Spare my village…”
Obito watched on as your eyes rolled back into the back ofyour head. The gurgles of your attempt at speech dying quickly.  Obito only held you within his grasp whileyour heart still beats and placed you on the ground when you were gone fromthis world.
Obito stood back up, looking down at you with no remorse andno pity ringing through his heart. He only had one future in mind, when Zetsureturned to him, and he was going to do anything to see through to it.
