#have all the big Mario 3d games be about Bowser kidnapping Peach along with a few of the mainline games

You know, considering that new untitled Peach game is a bit like Luigi’s Mansion with how it puts a Mario character in a new environment with new game mechanics, I’m kinda hoping Peach gets her own original villain the same way Luigi was given King Boo.
Hell, with Super Mario RPG coming back, which has many original characters, and with the characters from the Peach teaser being something other than Toads, it seems Nintendo might be willing to dip their toes into original characters again. So what’s better to start making new characters than by giving Peach her own bad guy ! Also the new Mario Bros game has some new characters as well from the looks of it, so again, it’s possible !
And don’t get me wrong, Bowser is absolutely iconic and I do enjoy the irony of Peach battling against him. But with this game not being a platformer, and again taking into consideration Luigi’s Mansion, it would be a fun change of pace for Peach to have a new villain in her own series (god I hope this game becomes a series of several games!!!). Plus, it seems Peach will be more and more playable in mainline games, meaning more Bowser beat-up from her anyways.
And yes, part of me wants that new villain to be a female character as it's been forever since Mario games has had one and I am very much aware of how people would go crazy over it for the shipping.
(Also going back to Bowser, it’s more of a “me” thing but I always found it slightly weird to see Bowser attack Peach, since he’s supposed to be in love with her (Paper Mario games prove it well) and in all the games she gets captured, there are no indications he ever raises a hand on her. Hell in Odyssey he’s very gentle when putting Tiara on Peach’s head. Also Peach is never particularly afraid of him despite how horrible he can be, which implies he doesn’t physically hurt her.
Fun fact : this is why I headcanon Super Princess Peach as taking place very soon after Super Paper Mario, since the two of them would have just spent weeks working together and getting along. So it would work for Bowser to lose his shit upon getting rejected yet again “despite doing everything right” and thus be willing to fight her. As for 3d World, there’s three other people Bowser can focus on to avoid hurting her)
#Super Mario#Princess Peach#Untitled Princess Peach game#Flor talks#you know; about the possibility of Peach not getting captured anymore in future games; I don't know how to feel about it#and funnily enough; it has nothing to do with Peach herself but instead with Bowser#the gist of it is that Bowser is a shitty person with a pretty big soft side#and outside of being a dad; the other thing showing that soft side is his love for Peach; granted the mainline games barely ever show it#but the RPGs do; and as messed up as it is; it's also kinda cute !#and basically if Bowser stops kidnapping Peach; not only does it show less that he likes her in a sense as it reduces how obsessed he is#but most importantly it means Bowser will need new reasons to be a villain; reasons that might turn him into an irredeemable piece of shit#and that's what I'm afraid of; I like Bowser as that absolute douche with a soft spot who's willing to work with Mario if needed#I think the best way Nintendo could go about this would be to find a balance to the kidnappings#have all the big Mario 3d games be about Bowser kidnapping Peach along with a few of the mainline games#meanwhile have the other half of the mainline games feature Peach as playable + give her her own game series#(I mean reminder that in the 5 main 3d games; Luigi is only playable in the Galaxy ones#and for the first one takes finishing the game to unlock; so having Peach sometimes be the hero sometimes the damsel could work)#(the main issue with her being the damsel is that we never get to play as her; causing her to be seen as a bland character by many#but if we do play as her sometimes + she gets her own games; her being the damsel will be less of an issue)#(another way to fix the issue could also to go the early Paper Mario route and have her actually do things while captured)

heyy!! hope you're doing well💗 for the s/i ask game, Mr Brightside and Ain't It Fun for sludgemaid (super cool design btw) and April (she's so cute<3)
MR. BRIGHTSIDE :: If your s/i had to describe themselves, what would that description be? Would they be honest with how they describe themselves?
AIN’T IT FUN :: When in canon does your s/i come in? Do they play a certain role in the plot?
Yay thank for the ask :DD!!!!
Mr. Brightside;
Sludgemaid would say something like "I swear I'm nice! I just look like a monster..." and it has low self esteem(especially after being mutated) so would probably be pretty down on itself :( She gets better after meeting the turtles though! She'd be a little harsh and warn people not to scare her, but also try to assure them that shes actually friendly, just shy and with a lot of teeth!
Ain't it fun;
Around the middle of season 1! And yes :D Sludgemaid lives in the sewers but not in the same parts as the turtles, she kinda just wanders around and sings sad songs until they find her. Cue the big fight and defeat of Sludgemaid and then realize hey! That fish girl isn't actually out for blood! As they befriend her and she now comes over for frequent visits :) Seeing as she can't go on land(has to be in/around water at all times) she can't always tag along but she helps whenever she can! have that be helping look for Raph in Man VS Sewer or swimming them across the(body of water whoms name i did not catch) in Late Fee ^_^
--
Mr. Brightside;
April would say shes shy, nervous... but that she'll always protect whats important to her. She's not the strongest Princess but ruling over the oceans is certainly a powerful position! Like with Sludgemaid she's more insecure and lonely before she meets with others and after she opens up more!
Ain't it fun;
Hmm! I don't have a real spot she comes in, I know that her and rosalina's story wouldn't be the focus of any game they'd be in. But with April there'd be a new mario game where Bowser kidnaps April instead of Peach and Mario goes to save her! At the end of the game April would formally introduce herself and they'd all become friends :) cue Princess April appearing in mario party and mario cart and things of the like drftghj
The release of the games would go Galaxy 1 -> April Game -> Galaxy 2 -> and then!! Another game! Where the plot would be something something trouble is brewing and Mario has to go fix things! Okay well I don't actually have a plot idea ftghj but! Rosalina's ship would crash and there'd be some sort of evil plan from Bowser where he casts a magical dome around our planet, keeping everyone in and everybody else out.. Which will somehow lead him to controlling everything! mwahaha!
Rosalina got caught in the atmosphere right as Bowser was casting the spell, and her ship and all her Lumas crashed into the sea! April swims them all to the safety of the shore and alerts Mario(+their other friends) to the crash. The Lumas and Rosalina all stay in April's kingdom(which is either the most or second-most secure kingdom) anddd you kinda would follow mario from there
Anyways maybe you could switch between characters like in 3d world! Or as Mario you can visit the Ocean Kingdom and talk with Rosalina+April
The Mario games aren't really known for their. beautiful gay love stories so most of their relationship would be off-screen cause you play as Mario and you're busy beatin the bad guys!
But I think the interactions you'd have with Lina and April they'd talk about each other in a way where youre like. hmmm. 🏳️‍🌈?

Super Mario Odyssey Review
Tumblr media
Super Mario Odyssey is a beautiful and interesting world trotting adventure that feels right at home within the franchise. The gameplay has a classic feel to it that both adds something new and utilizes the ideas of old to keep things interesting. The world that surrounds the Mushroom Kingdom has never felt bigger and the possibilities are endless thanks to the new central mechanics of the game. Nintendo is going all out with the new titles on the switch in terms of their presentation; however, in the end, it’s still a very generic Mario game in a lot of senses.
Super Mario Odyssey has a lot of great features that make it an enjoyable title; sadly, the story falls short from the rest of the game. To put it simply, it’s a Mario story. That may sound terrible, but it all feels generic. Bowser kidnaps Princess Peach and it’s up to Mario to save her. The formula hasn’t changed in years and, for Odyssey, the same applies here. The only differences stem from the idea that Bowser is rushing to force the Princess to marry him. It’s an interesting alteration from just having Bowser sit there and do nothing but wait for Mario to stop his plans but, at the end of the day, it’s the same story that Nintendo has presented for years.
Nintendo doesn’t even need to replace Bowser as the villain. While the studio has shown that the famed Koopa King can play second fiddle to another antagonist; It’s as easy as altering the motive or method. Bowser doesn’t have to kidnap Peach every game. Sonic games reuse Dr. Robotnik all the time; however, he isn’t using the same tactics to reach his goals. If Bowser wanted to take over the Mushroom Kingdom, or “win” the princess, then change up the formula. It’s like the entire story of Bowser’s life centers around the saying “If at first you don’t succeed, try try again.” Yet, in Bowser’s case, he never learns from his mistakes, he’s a one trick pony that can even do the one thing he sets out to do.
Bowser aside; there are some interesting new additions to this games story. Thankfully, there are a slew of new characters on both sides. Bowser isn’t being aided by the koopalings or Bowser Jr. this time around. Instead the player is introduced to the Broodlings.
Tumblr media
These new villains are a group of rabbit wedding planners. Just like previous henchmen, they are tasked with one thing; Stop Mario from foiling the plan. Along with them, there is an entirely new rogues’ gallery of bosses to fight throughout the game. Some that may take similarities from previous bosses and others that are new from the ground up.
Aside from characters, Super Mario Odyssey gains a lot of praise from it’s vastly expanded world. Much like Super Mario Galaxy, Mario is introduced to many new places outside the Mushroom Kingdom; however, instead of exploring the reaches of space, it’s an adventure around the world. Each kingdom is completely different from the last. The best part about them is that they all are so different. Their ecosystem, economy, inhabitants, and way of life; a lot of effort and thought went into building this unknown world. One moment someone may be exploring a kingdom where the citizens are cooking utensils; the next, they’re in the big city enjoying a concert with Pauline or riding a scooter.
Tumblr media
The colors, scenery, and atmosphere are one of the best things about Odyssey. While the game can be beat in a simple amount of time; the world itself truly feels bigger than any other Mario game before it. The game feels so different, but at the same time some how classic.
The game feels fairly similar to a couple past titles in the franchise, mainly Super Mario 64. Mario isn’t jumping through stars or cleaning streets with a water jet pack; it’s a step back, but in a good way. The gameplay has some new features, but it’s clear that Odyssey tries to utilize the roots of the original Mario 3D platformers. Mario moves the exact same way he always has but, in this game, he is very grounded. There are no special power caps, or cannon stars to propel Mario. The newest mechanic of the game actually stems from a character.
Tumblr media
Cappy, a denizen of the cap kingdom, has joined Mario on his adventure. With this, now players can throw Cappy at foes to easily dispatch them; however, some enemies and other NPC’s are special. It’s not really explained how but, honestly it doesn’t need to be, now Mario can possess things through Cappy. This presents many new ways of platforming. Is the next platform to high? Then just take over a frog. Can’t swim fast or breathe under water for too long? Control a cheep cheep. This idea presented a lot of interesting puzzles throughout the game; however, it felt somewhat scarce.
Tumblr media
For being the crowning new thing for the game, there wasn’t a lot of necessity to transforming. There were a couple power moons that required Mario to change; as well as, platforming sections that were near impossible to traverse without the mechanic. That is unless you know some speed running tricks or the like. Though, due to the fact that there are so many Power Moons to collect, you can get most of what is needed without the transformations. In fact, the truly challenging moments of the game only come during post game. There is a total of 999 Power Moons in the entire game. A lot of these moons are locked off until the player progresses through the game; however, the ones that are present give leave a very boring impression. Walk five steps from your ship and ground pound a mound of dirt; congrats, you’ve achieved a power moon. Now jump over the rock formation to the right and talk to captain toad; well done, that’s another power moon. Go to the store and, guess what, buy a power moon for one hundred coins. Now, yes this is a game where the demographic is meant to be children of a certain age, but those kids aren’t three year old toddlers who need mother Nintendo to hold their hands and give them a free pass.
The game is only truly difficult if the player is a completionist; the number of power moons aside, there are legitimately difficult moons to collect in the post game. Still a plethora of easy and unnecessary ones that could have just been taken out , but if someone is looking for the challenge it’s there. the addition of almost one thousand moons just makes the game feel longer than it needs to be. The player doesn’t need to get them all to finish the game, but it still feels lazy, and that’s just the start. The gameplay is good, but there is just so much about some of the details that change the way it’s seen. Unlike other games in the franchise, Super Mario Odyssey does not have any form of game over. The character can die and when they do they lose coins and then are respawned; however, this means that there is no repercussions for death. Once again this only effects those players that wish to one hundred percent everything there is in the game. Coins are used for only two things in the game; One is to buy power moons while the other is to obtain outfits.
Tumblr media
These outfits are purely aesthetic, save for a select few. Some moons require Mario to wear a specific costume; once he does it a free no effort power moon. Otherwise, the costumes are for looks until post game. Present at the end of the game is an achievement system that has kept track of things throughout the game that, when achieved, gives you more simple power moons. So, dying a lot will set people back if they plan to get everything but, unless the person fell off the edge, they can always pick up their lost coins and then some. Once Mario dies every coin he picked up in the stage re-loads; this makes dying trivial and a minor inconvenience that means nothing. To some this may seem like a great change, or nothing all that relevant; however, game overs are one of the best thing a game like this can have. The set backs it brings and the challenges presented have always played a key role in bettering gamers to strive to overcome that which trips them up. Removing this downplays the game and, as stated before, makes for a boring experience.
Overall, when the game performs well, it’s an 8 out of 10; however, there are just so many things about the game that just don’t sit well with me. When the games at it’s lowest it’s a 7 out of 10. The game is a good and fun game, but it has it’s boring moments. The story is becoming outdated and overused; however, there were new and interesting ideas presented. The game can be boring at times and the gameplay does take a hit in some areas; whether it’s a big problem like boring and overly simplistic collectibles that are the core item of the game, or something small like how awkward it feels to swim sometimes. The game isn’t perfect, but it is enjoyable.
Sorry for the delay on this; school, illness, obligations, the same old stuff and just a different day. I’ll be releasing the reviews this month between now and the end of the month. There aren’t set dates but I do plan on getting every thing out before February. Next review is on the manga, In This Corner of the World. Until then however, have a good day and thanks for reading.

Hello guys! And welcome to a little thing I’ve started up! I’ve decided to make a mini series/fun debate about characters and what not. All the time I get stuff in my feed about which is the best Mario girl, and I’ve decided to get to the bottom of it with my own opinions. DISCLAIMER: If you like the characters I don’t like, it’s fine! Like what you want, I won’t bully you lol. But don’t pick fights or you’ll be blocked my friend.
So...first character I wanna discuss is...Daisy. So her character is known as either the best character or the worst. Mainly being known as the tomboy who was kidnapped once and slapped bowser into the sky in Mario Party 3. But first of all...I’m not a huge fan of Daisy. Don’t get me wrong, she can be somewhat fun to play as in video games. She is often hated, but her character isn’t something that has that big of a presence in the Mario games to get your opinions in a twist. She’s okay and an average character. They could’ve added more to her character but sometimes it’s nice to just have a character to play for fun and not for a huge reason. So... on a scale of one to ten, one being the worst character and ten being the wholey gods good character. I’d give her a 6/10. Average. Nothing special, nor nothing horrible. Her voice in my opinion can get old REALLY fast. But still okay.
Okay, next I want to discuss is Peach. This one sparks up some controversy but I don’t like her character. Yeah, she’s been kidnapped a thousand times, and some because try to convince me it’s acting or something. But, her character is mostly a cliché damsel and distress type of gal. That’s not always horrible but again, she’s nothing special. But, I won’t ignore that in spin-offs that she does make herself more present. Like say Super Mario 3D world, and Super Mario Odessey, she shows that she can float with her dress. People debate that it’s her mAgIc but I’m pretty sure it’s just her big dress. In smash she has a very girly presence. But, that’s probably to appeal to young girls. Which is fine. And people debate about Super Paper Mario and Peach’s character. But, that’s in another universe. The paper Mario universe. If it wasn’t paper Mario, then I’d discuss more about her fiesty personality. But a rating I’d give her a 6.5/10. Average, but okay in some aspects.
Okie dokie next up is a blast from the past...Pauline. So I don’t know how I feel about her character so far. Yes, I’ve played odessey and she was a nice surprise in the game. They gave her a role as a mayor and a singer. She’s an iconic girl from the Mario franchise. I’m glad they gave her a spot in the games, but I don’t know yet...She’s going to appear in Mario Tennis Aces, which sounds cool. People debate if she’s better than everyone in the franchise. Which is a little rambunctious but, you do you. She was once a Damsel in Distress but, like Daisy, they made her ale a U-turn and turned her character into an independent woman. But, it still seems a tad out of place to add her into the franchise but that’s fine. Although, they did slap on a big butt and a big chest onto Pauline. So I wasn’t a humongous fan of that but, marketing is getting desperate these days lol. So, overall a nice layed-out character with a lot of potential. I’ll give her a 7.5/10. Not amazing but still a character with loads of potential.
Now, onto one of my favorite characters, Rosalina. Now, I won’t be acting on my opinions that much since I’m a little biased since the games she first appeared in were my favorite games of all time. So, I’ll try my best. Rosalina was a shock to the Mario franchise. They were going to write her off as just another female character until Nintendo decided to give to Slace Maiden a full on story. They gave Rosalina a powerful story in Super Mario Galaxy. It’s all about how Rosalina found the Luma’s and how she built and took care of the Luma’s in her new home. Referencing in the end the death of her mother and how she missed her family in the last few chapters. How she promised to protect the Luma’s and the cosmos to watch the star children grow. She’s a mysterious character that’s loved by many. I don’t like her new voices in the newer games though, her voice used to have that elegant space feel to it. Along with a mother feel as well. Though I still love her character. Though to my belief I don’t see her as a princess. The series never state that fact in the canon series so I just assume that she’s a Queen. She rules the observatory and protects the cosmos and watched the Luma’s as they develop into galaxies and power stars. She has a crap ton of magic as I’ve seen. She has levitation and a magic wand along with so much more. She made a grand appearance and is known as one of the deepest characters in the Mario franchise. Heck, people even believe she’s a goddess. (Though I’m not sure) but she does have a universe under her dress soooo...But, I’ll rate Rosa a grand 8.5/10. I love her character, but they could still improve on the characters abilities and mechanics.
Thanks for tuning in and have a nice time! Who do you think is the best woman in Mario? Play nice. 💕
