I saw your tags and I’m now very intrigued like what do you mean yuhan has the SHORTEST TRAGIC BACKSTORY?!?! JUST WHAT IS GOING ON?? like granted I should have known a game about devil cat butlers would have some angst and tragic backstories but god damn 😭😭

there was a miscalculation on my part and yuuhan's is in fact, not the one with the shortest backstory! however that's only because the others have yet to have their backstories be revealed. sorry for the late answer btw, exams have made me pretty tired.

ok so ill briefly explain a bit. this ties in to the requirement to become a devil butler that is, having felt so much despair that one feels like dying. normal people will be swallowed up by the devils they contract with. the despair essentially acts like chains for the devil. so to talk about their pasts in the Briefest Way Possible (lie):

miyaji has beef with lucas on the surface but really it's because he still can't get over the fact that lucas decided to save him from the verge of death instead of someone else he thought was more capable than him while lucas simply chose to save miyaji because he had higher chances of living.

lucas was basically a child prodigy/genius. since young, he's always loved reading books, and even read thick books that even adults struggled to understand. even though he was lonely and had no one to talk to, he still endured it, skipped grades, and became a doctor at the age of 10+. at first he was looked down on for being young, but an older doctor stood up for him. eventually he became the leader of the doctors, but due to his lack of social skills, he struggled to communicate well, which resulted in the doctors hating him. in the end, all the doctors except lucas quit their job. and the group collapsed. (tbf id quit too... imagine being said you didn't work as hard as him and don't have as much brainpower compared to him as well)

ammon has only had his mom since birth and lived with her, selling flowers for a living. ammon would always make sure the flowers would be sold out at the end of the day for his sickly mother, but if he doesn't manage to sell all of them it's heavily implied his mom whips him like he does to himself even now. they were like super poor but ammon still loved his mom because he only had her

berrien has like this super mysterious past but rn it's starting to unravel in chapter 4. he's an orphan and got adopted into a church backed by the grovanas or whatever nobel family to nurture warriors who could fight angels, but surprisingly the church is actually full of love and was ran by someone who fighted angels named Goetia. berrien also met his soon-to-be older brother figure named Beren/Belen. btw all of the kids go by the last name Cliane because goetia wants everyone to become true family.

when berrien was 26 (Beren 29), goetia died from a chronic disease and Beren had to take on goetia's responsibilities. berrien became the one running the church, however shit happened, Beren got demonized, and berrien used his powers to keep Beren alive after forming a contract with his current devil. he's still residing in berrien's basement as of current, but in a coma. berrien still thinks he himself has no rights to be a butler and really does not believe that he's the one keeping the damn thing running

also the church got destroyed like 2400 years ago and yes berrien is 2000+ years old

haures was born into some wack ass family, his dad ran away with some other woman and his mom projected her rage and stuff like that onto haures, and his newborn younger sister Tricia. haures is 10 years older than Tricia. when he was that age, he ran away from home with Tricia (literal baby) because he no longer trusted his mom to take good care of them. after that, when haures was 18, he trained hard to become a soldier under the grovanas nobles so he could afford to let Tricia get treatment for her worsening vision. one heartbreaking scene was when haures showed off his red uniform to Tricia and she said the blue uniform looked good on him... but 5 years later, haures managed to get Tricia's eyes healed!!! surely nothing bad could happen!!!!

sike. haures caught one of the grovanas nobles illegally trafficking humans with some dealer, and arrested him. however that led to the seller getting revenge, and he decided to capture tricia. he stabbed her and threw her into the woods. when haures found her, she only managed to call out to haures before she died after a few breaths. haures was really really really devastated. he sought revenge on the noble, and while the noble didn't die, he was jailed 5 years for harming the noble (not death sentence because he was determined mentally unstable after losing Tricia.). after he got out of jail, he found the noble again and wanted to kill him, but he was reminded of how Tricia admired him for protecting the people and helping those in need, which stopped him. after that, he became a devil butler because of his proficient fighting skills.

lamli was forced to work at a circus by his mom at the age of 10, while starting up with simple duties, he decided to train to become a circus troupe performer so he'd earn more money for his complaining mother. its heavily implied he's abandoned by her and becomes a devil butler because of his nimble body. btw his mom said she never wanted to have lamli right in front of him. jesus.

fennesz was born into a wealthy happy family, and had an older sister. however his war general father lost a war against nobles, and the economy went into shambles. his mom remarried but even though their stepdad was nice, fennesz and his sister ended up strays on the street due to some reasons i forgot of. fennesz would get bullied by kids on the street because of his father's loss in the war, but his sister would always protect him, and they relied on each other for survival. she's very smart, as shown in the story. she also loves history, as she said, it can help people learn from the past. its heavily implied she is dead.

ok flure! flure grew up with his older sister and mother who both did ballet (can one of you have an actual dad for once?), and he also followed in their footsteps. however when he was a child he was bullied for liking stereotypical girly things, like playing with his sister's dolls, doing ballet and having long hair. even though he was laughed at for doing it, he still underwent strict training guided bg his sister and mother. he never found the courage to tell his sister or mom even though his sister could tell something was wrong (heard him crying at night). he still thinks he should be more courageous to this day and thinks he's pathetic. we don't know what happened to his family but they probably died.

i wanted to talk about boschi but i realized idk much about him apart from the fact that he only had his grandmother (who's actually a great caretaker for once!) and he was bullied for being a bookworm/nerd at school and had no friends. though he did actually beat those bullies up later for mocking his grandma when she wanted to take him back home. she didn't want boschi to fight but she said herself she was actually rooting for him when he was fighting LMAOOO love her for that

lono. ok so lono was really poor and had no parents, and he acted as the older brother for the younger kids living on the streets with him. he'd work as someone who'd clean up rubble from battling angels, which was a job that had unstable income since no one knows when angels are gonna appear. they were family basically. lono would rather starve than let his siblings eat less, and his love of cooking originated here because he loved seeing them happy from his cooking. we don't know what happened to them, but they're probably dead

nac was born into a rich family, and has a father, not sure if he has a mother, never mentioned at least. apparently the stein family was great at sales or trading or smth??? they're just some very rich and well-known name. however on his 12th birthday, his butler led him to the forest near the stein mansion, and revealed himself to be someone the stein family harmed. just as he was about to kill lil nac in shock, nac retaliated in defense. and when he realized, he already stabbed the man at his vital point. his dad appears out of nowhere and reveals that he knew this all along, and that the stein family is actually a long line of assassins with sales as their front personas. nac was trained to kill since then, and thought he'd never feel positive emotions again before he became a devil butler. he also has scars all around his body, probably from the assassin work he did.

lato and his non-blood related brother, Aleks I think? were kidnapped by people who wanted to train people to become angel fighters. however unlike berrien, this time it's just pure cruelness and literal torture. they were 8 when this experiment started. not only that, all the children were sold by their caretakers to this place, including lato and aleks' "mother", the head of their orphanage, who they deeply loved and believed in. when lato finally found a way to escape, almost half the children were dead.

and when he told the others, they told lato that they already gave up on escaping, including aleks. from, i suppose, all the suppressed anger and trauma, he burned the experiment facility down, leaving the other kids to die because he hallucinated that they wanted them to be burned so they could be free. after that, lato returned to the orphanage even though he knew the "mother" sold him in the first place. guess what the mother did! that's right she ran back into the orphanage when she saw him, locked the fucking door and told him to get the fuck away from her. and lato burned the orphanage down.

now onto the new butler trio!

teddy is the one with the most details in his backstory so far. when he was young, he Had a twin brother, and teddy was a far cry from who he is now. he was negative and gloomy compared to his brother, who was positive and talented, and people always favored teddy's brother more. but one day, his brother died protecting him from an angel, but since they were so alike people didn't know whether the one that died was teddy or his brother. and after grieving his brother, teddy decided to become him, and used his brother's name to live on as him so people wouldn't be sad, because "teddy" was the one that died. and that led to teddy forming his personality today. teddy is his actual name though, he started using it after he became a knight. he became a knight because he wanted to protect people from angels.

but during an attack by an intelligent angel, namely seraphim, one of the angels that appeared at the end of chapter 1 and also the major antagonist of the story, teddy's entire unit got killed. at the start of chapter 2.5, he recuperated in a hospital, however he kept terrible nightmares (reliving the massacre, and hearing the voices of his comrades asking him why he abandoned them and why he got to survive) and so didn't sleep at all. he eventually snuck out of the hospital to visit their graves, and then started wondering what the point of him still being alive is. he almost threw himself off a cliff before haures and aruji reached him.

hanamaru. ten years before the story, hanamaru was fleeing from something- he walked all the way from the east to the central, and collapsed in a forest. a nun found him and took him back to a church that doubled as an orphanage. however the nun soon fell ill and died, so hanamaru began taking care of the kids in the church after he was saved by her.

but 5 years later, the church was attacked by angels. he was away from the church when the attack happened, and when he came back, all he saw were angels flying away from the ruined church. only 4 kids survived. hanamaru had a breakdown, and kept kneeling and pressing his head against the ground, saying things like "i couldn't protect them", "i swear ill keep them safe next time", implying this is not the first time something like this has happened. he swore vengeance against the angels that day, that he would never forgive them, and himself. so berrien suspects that the 4 kids that survived were the people that kept hanamaru around. who knows what could've happened if they passed as well...

lastly (finally), yuuhan. at the age of 9, he trained to become a soldier of the sardeis family so he could protect his hometown, and made it after 3 years. he quickly rose up in the ranks, being a prodigy. in the main story, he started doubting his loyalty to the family after they attempted an assassination on the devil butlers. and he betrayed the sardeis family and fell into their trap when investigating forbidden records. he got thrown into jail by the head, and the head decided for his punishment, yuuhan's whole village and everyone he knew there will be burned and killed. he could only despair in jail. in the story, after his prison guard left after serving him food, yuuhan started crying. he called out to his father, his mother, everyone from his hometown, apologizing again and again, believing that it's his fault that they died.

after that, the head, fubuki, paid him a visit. fubuki beat yuuhan up, pushed him to the verge of death, but not grave enough injuries to die. yuuhan asked fubuki to kill him, but fubuki refused. he even says he'll force feed yuuhan till the day of his death execution if necessary. however, yuuhan was rescued by the butlers during his execution. (it took place in a forest with tigers. basically the death penalty is getting eaten by tigers) he became a devil butler after that.

How they sleep

Characters: all the butlers except the newest 3 bcs I don't know them that well sorry

A/n: keep in mind that these are my personal headcanons so don't be suprised If something doesn't line up with the story lol

Berrien: probably on his back holding the covers aka one of the most basic poses. Wears a whole pajama outfit with a little nightcap

Lono: crazy as hell, has half the blanket on and half of it off. Wears a short sleeve shirt and shorts to bed. Also snores loud and Bastien smacks him whenever he hears lono snoring

Bastien: on his stomach holding the pillow to his head from underneath. Only wears shorts to bed but no shirt

Lucas: deadass sleeps in a chair with his head back💀 he has serious neck problems. Wears probably a shirt and pants to bed

Nac: on his side in the fetal position not facing the wall. Wears regular pajamas to bed but his pants are too long and needs to get new, shorter ones.

Lamli: on his stomach with his face in the pillow. No one knows how he breathed while sleeping like that, and it freaks nac out. Has cute ass pajamas with stars on them

Haures: He doesn't probably on his back holding a pillow on his stomach(don't ask me why I think that idk) he probably wears the same kind of pajamas berrien does. He also puts his pajamas on at a certain time but most of the time doesn't even sleep in his bed😭

Fennesz(I probably messed up his name): on his side holding his pillow. Wears a short sleeve shirt and fluffy pajama pants. Sleeps incredibly quiet, haures occasionally makes sure he's still breathing

Boschi: anytime, anywhere. Sleeps on his stomach with his arms and head on top of the pillow. Just wears pajama pants to bed and it pisses haures off because he refuses to wear a shirt to bed. Also snores rlly loud

Ammon: curled up on his side in a blanket burrito with like 3 pillows. Wears thick long sleeve pajamas to bed. Sometimes can't get out of the blanket burrito in the morning and jas to ask boschi to help

Basement butlers: THEY ALL SLEEP IN A CUDDLE PILE IDC. It's the only way lato sleeps peacefully. Miyaji sleeps on his back. Lato sleeps to the right of Miyaji facing away from him on his side. Flure sleeps half on and half off miyaji. They all have matching pajamas flure made. Lato's has softer fabric to help him sleep better . Lato sleeps dead quiet so miyaji checks his pulse to make sure he's still alive. Lato once gave miyaji a heart attack because he couldn't feel his pulse immediately when he checked, but realized he was checking the wrong spot on lato's neck💀 flure also snores. Not loud like boschi and lono, but loud enough for lato to tease him about it.

[AKNK] Butler in Wonderland / Chapter 1 - Chase the Rabbits?

[Devil's Palace, Your Room]

One day in October. As usual, I put on the golden ring and returned to the mansion. Devil's Palace looks… a lot different.

> "Th-this is…"

Click… *door opens*

Haures: "Welcome back, my Lord."

Fennesz: "Fufu… Were you surprised?"

The costumes of Haures and Fennesz, who greeted me, have a different feel than usual too.

> "What's with your outfits?"

Haures: "Yes, actually, this costume… Flure tailored the costumes to match this year's Halloween theme."

> "I see, you're dressed up for Halloween."

Fennesz: "That's right! Last year's costume theme was vampires and werewolves. This year's theme is... It's based on a well-known novel in this world."

> "What kind of novel is it?"

Haures: "Yes. A boy wanders into a strange world. He encounters a number of mysterious inhabitants and tries to return to his own world. It's called 'Ars in Creepyland'... Do you know it?"

> "I don’t think I do" > "Maybe something similar to it…"

Fennesz: "Fufu, I see... But please don't worry. I'm sure you will enjoy the atmosphere, even if you don't know the original work. Many of the butlers have never read the original too."

Haures: "Well, just because it is well-known… it doesn’t mean that everyone has read the original work. Incidentally, thanks to my sister who made me read out the book to her every night… I almost fully memorized it by heart."

Fennesz: “I-is that so. I think that is unusual… Anyway… these costumes were themed after the novel’s characters. I hope my Lord will enjoy this year’s Halloween with these costumes."

Haures: “By the way… my Lord, I would like to confirm one thing. Do you have any plans after this?”

> “Plans after this?” > “Why?”

Haures: “Yes. The truth is, we would like for our Lord to participate in a certain ‘recreation’… But I'm afraid it's going to take some time. So… Is it okay if I start now? If it's not convenient for you, we'll let you know another time...”

> "I can do it now."

Haures: "Fufu. Thank you very much, my Lord."

Fennesz: "Alright, let's get right to it… I would like to explain about this recreation. First of all, my Lord. Please look at this ring."

There is a beautiful ring in Fennesz's palm. The ring seems to have a rhombus-shaped red diamond on it. It shines as if it were on fire, reflecting the light.

Fennesz: "Now.... Excuse me."

Fennesz took my hand, and gently guided my finger to point… He put the new ring on my finger that already had a golden ring on it.

> “It’s pretty…”

Fennesz: “Fufu… right? But this ring is not just pretty.”

> “Really?”

Haures: “Yes. Well then, my Lord… Next, please look at this ring.”

As I look, there is also a shiny beautiful ring on Haures’s palm. This time it seems to have a heart-shaped jewel. It’s bright-red, and has a passionate feel.

Haures: “Then… Excuse me as well.”　

Just like what Fennesz did, Haures put the ring on my finger. As a result, in addition to the golden ring I was wearing at the beginning… A total of three rings were worn on the same finger.

> "What does this mean…"

Haures: "Fufu. It suits you, my Lord. Actually, that ring... I borrowed it from a jeweler I used to work with. Not only is it a real gemstone, but it also has an unusual mechanism attached to it.

> "An unusual mechanism?"

Fennesz: "Yes. Actually, the gemstone is removable… Please excuse me for a moment, my Lord.”

Fennesz took my hand and touched the jewel in the ring. He gently held the jewel in place and twisted it lightly. With a clicking sound... The jewel that was attached to the ring came off. In the same way, this time Haures... Removed the jewel from the other ring and showed it to me.

Haures: “Well then, my Lord… To test, could you try removing the rings you wore?”

> “Is it alright to remove the rings?”

As instructed, I tried to remove the two rings… The rings that seemed to fit on my finger easily just now… For some reason, it just wouldn't come off my finger.

> "Huh? It won't come off?"

Haures: "Yes. What a curious mechanism, isn't it? I don't know how it works exactly, but… The lock seems to activate when the jewel is removed. The ring doesn't even tight on your finger, and yet seems like it's unable to come off."

Fennesz: "In other words… For as long as these two jewels that we have are not returned to the rings, my Lord will not be able to remove it. That means… you will not be able to remove the 'golden ring' you were wearing either... So it becomes, my Lord will not be able to return to your original world…"

> "Ehh…!"

Haures: "Fufu… Please rest assured, my Lord. You see, this is merely one hell of a recreation."

Fennesz: "Yes. The original work, as well, tells the story of the protagonist who is searching for his way back home to his original world… I wanted my Lord to experience the thrill too… That is what this recreation is all about."

> "I see…"

Fennesz: "From now on, we will carry these jewels that have become the 'key'... And leave for somewhere in the mansion. My Lord, please chase after us… And obtain the 'key' to return your world."

> ”Understood” > “Sounds quite fun”

Haures: " 'Fufu… well, then… Shall we now excuse ourselves? Half-moon Rabbit.' "

Fennesz: " 'Th-that's right, Full-moon Rabbit.' "

Haures: " 'Fufu… Happy Nothing Day.' "

Fennesz: " 'Ha, Happy… Unbirthday!' "

clack… clack… clack… *walks away*

While performing as some kind of characters… The two walked away from the room.

I don’t know how similar it is… But the theme seems to be based on a novel that’s similar to 'Alice in Wonderland'.

Anyway, for the sake of participating in this 'recreation' that the butlers have arranged for me...

I will do as they said… chasing after the ‘rabbits’.

But can you please do another headcanon but this time it's 2nd floor butlers, with boschi, Ammon, haures and fennesz. You were again playing dolls with haures and laughing in his room (since if you didn't you know Boschi laughing-)

"I will save you, princess!" Haures said as he was a knight and you were a princess (the dolls-)

until Fennesz came in saying that some people were gonna come and left

A few hours later

You were pretty much red as a apple since the lady won't stop calling you cute and haures sweat drops with the other butler's

You were hug the doll very tightly as you anxiety started kicking in and you ran to haures and hug him

You were now asleep in haures arms as he took you back to your room quietly to not wake you up

You were sleeping peaceful as you were hugging the doll and haures smiled sadly and softy you reminded him to much of her

"I will keep you safe I promise for a long time until I Die." (This made me want to cry man-)

"Mrs y/n no need to get anxious you will be safe I promise." Fennesz comfort you as you felt a less anxious but still

"Promise.." you place your finger in front of him he did same and you locked both of you fingers

You were in bed as you were hugging one of you bed while giggling sleepy as fennesz used some of you doll to create the story for you

You were asleep before you knew it fennesz placed a kiss on you forehead as he smiled softly and walked away.

He trusted you after take care of you a few times and let you play with hair which it's rare!

You were doing Boschi hairstyle like your dolls hairstyle.

you giggle quietly as he was sleeping - you kept doing this without waking him up he was faking sleeping as he enjoyed seeing your happy

a few minutes later- (I am having brain rot okay!)

You were having anxiety moments as you hugged your doll very tightly as Boschi hugged you very lightly to not scare you

You were now passed in his arms and hugged the doll as he ended up falling asleep the others were giggling very quietly while (I have nothing for Boschi kay! :C)

BERRIEN CLIANE

he was startled at first, even flinched the moment your head fell unto his shoulder the first time you did it

everytime you fell asleep, berrien always has to hold back the temptation to keep you inside his pockets and let you stay there forever because he thinks you look adorable sleeping on his shoulder like that

berrien wouldn’t hesitate to put his head on yours but he will have to hold that action back when the others are near the both of you

he can’t help but to keep looking at you with soft eyes and a smile, it was probably the first in a long time since he genuinely smiled

this man was probably too entranced with you sleeping that he even subconsciously sang a lullaby to lull you even deeper in your slumber

berrien is just so whipped for you when you two are alone

even if it’s just one sided, he might as well love you with the burden of sorrow on his shoulders

FENNESZ OSWALD

this man wouldn’t mind it in the slightest even if it was the first time you did it

well, of course he was a little surprised but he quickly calmed down and chuckled lightly, he’ll definitely tell you that you should sleep somewhere more comfortable that isn’t on his shoulder

every time you would sleep on him, he would move your head on his lap if he is ever doing something like organizing paperwork or books

there were even times where he went in and carried your sleeping form to your bedroom on the second floor. He can do it surely, have you seen him carry his weapon? He’s pretty well built so carrying you around should be no problem at all

he would read you a chapter from a book that he managed to finish a few days ago to make sure your slumber was worthwhile

once he closes the book, he will slowly turn to look at you if you were still asleep and might even put his head on yours to join in on the sleeping

it’s much more fun when you have other people doing the same thing as you, right?

HAURES CLIFFORD

haures would be flustered as hell every time you slept on his shoulder

this man would just sit there stiff as a board not knowing what to do. The only thing he definitely knows what to do is not to wake you up, so staying still should do it.

with you sleeping on his shoulder so peacefully while Haures blushing so hard, he might as well explode

it might honestly take a while for him to get used to this but he’s getting there. This is what he calls “special training”, everything should end well, right?

for this “special training” , Haures would try his best to comfort you every time you slept on his shoulder. He would hesitantly hold your hand, pat your head gently, even try to sing a lullaby for you.

there were even times where the other second floor butlers saw him concentrate so hard, they even giggled at him. Maybe this “special training” just ended up being a source of blackmail towards Haures

in the end, this man will end up sleeping himself because he over exhausted himself into overcoming this flusteredness. Well, it sure worked well in the end, no?

AKNK In IKEA

(Modern AU feat. 2nd Floor Butlers)

*Mainly Boschi x Aruji since I’m being self-indulgent rn lol. Also in this AU, I’m making it possible for Aruji to bring the butlers into their world and back, so yeah ^^

Our story begins when the second-floor butlers of the Devil’s Palace insisted on accompanying their Master to a furniture store in their world called ‘IKEA’. Their Master wished to look around for furniture and decor to add to their room, and also gifts to get their butlers as a token for all of their work protecting their world from Angels and other dangers.

What the butlers didn’t know was that their Arujisama also had another idea that they wanted to try while there…

-IKEA Parking Lot, Morning-

(The second-floor butlers and I made it to IKEA just after breakfast back at the Manor.)

(Perhaps was also time to share my idea while I tried to find gifts for them here, as we made our way toward the entrance.)

Haures: Hmm? Arujisama? Is something on your mind?

Aruji: Eh?

(My sudden reaction had the other butlers stop and look over in my direction, curiously.)

(Yet Haures leaned closer to me and spoke in a low enough voice, since saying ‘Arujisama’ in such a public place would raise some questions from the people around us. Kind of brings back memories of the ‘Black Tea Party’.)

Boschi: Oi! What are you two whispering about over there?

Fennesz: Now, now Boschi…

Ammon: I mean, if it’s about our Master, I’d like to know too.

Aruji: I want to play hide and seek here!

Boschi: Oh? Hide and seek? In here?

Ammon: Sounds like fun.

Haures: But we’re here to accompany Aruji- *ahem* I mean (Name) while they do their shopping.

Fennessz: Well surely we can do both. After all, I’m curious to try this as well.

Boschi: Why not? No need to be so strict Haures…

Haures: Boschi…

Fennesz: You two…

Ammon: Come on Haures~ We can’t refuse them, can we? Besides, I wanna play with (Name) too.

Haures: *sighs* Of course not… Alright then (Name), we’ll play.

Aruji: It’ll be fun, I promise.

(Once we were inside the building, I pulled out my phone to set a timer for exactly 1 minute, then handed it to them.)

Fennesz: (Name), are you sure about this? What if something happens and we can’t contact you?

Aruji: I’ll be careful. Now let’s start!

(I started the timer and made my getaway, looking for a perfect hiding place.)

-IKEA, Wardrobes & Storage-

-Sometime Later-

(I managed to find a hiding spot inside one of the wardrobes and had to keep as quiet as possible. However, I also was still pondering on gifts for the butlers during my adrenaline rush to find my perfect hiding spot.)

(That’s also not mentioning the thoughts of other people finding me here while the butlers worked themselves into a frenzy while playing this game.)

(Still, I couldn’t help but be proud of my spot-)

Boschi: Found ya (Name)~

(I was caught off guard by Boschi, who casually opened the closet doors with a smug expression.)

Aruji: B-Boschi- How did you even find me?

Boschi: Heh, it was pretty easy actually… I was just walking by when I noticed ya…

(His words and face made me feel a little embarrassed, so I turned my head away all flustered…)

Aruji: …. No fair…

Boschi: Heh… Alright, my turn.

(I looked up at Boschi when-)

*PWOSH*

(I was immediately caught off guard by a shark plushie that Boschi threw at my face. Shaking my head from the sudden action, I took time to look down at the plush shark I held onto. I certainly could admit how adorable it was. Its blue colour even kind of reminded me of Boschi.)

(Wait… Where DID Boschi go?...)

-IKEA, ???-

-Sometime later-

(Holding onto the shark plushie, I searched all over for Boschi, going back and forth between the different sections of the store. I couldn’t even find where Haures, Fennesz and Ammon were. I didn’t have my phone on me since I gave it to them…)

Aruji: Boschi? Boschi?!

(My distress didn’t go unnoticed by the people around me. Is this how the butlers feel when trying to protect me?)

???: Excuse me?

Aruji: Eh?

(I turned around to see an older couple looking at me as they were waiting in line at the restaurant.)

Man: Are you looking for someone?

Aruji: Y-Yes, I am… He’s my…

(Did I dare tell them that Boschi was technically one of my butlers? That might only raise more questions…)

Aruji: … He’s my… partner.

(The older couple looked at each other in contemplation before refocusing on me. Meanwhile, my mind was racing. Why did I say Boschi was my partner?!)

(Though, saying it aloud did give me a lighter feeling in my chest… A sense of pride and security even…)

Woman: I see. Well unfortunately we haven’t seen him around. But we can surely let you know if we see him for you…

Aruji: Thank you…

(I nodded to the couple and carried on my way, but not without glancing at the menu above. It certainly feels like a long time since we got here and I was a bit hungry from my desperate seeking…)

(Surely a small break couldn’t hurt-)

???: ‘Partners’, huh?

(I suddenly felt arms wrapped around me from behind and their breath tickling my ear. But I recognize that voice. I glance up and see…)

Boschi: Hey (Name).

(Boschi, once again looking at me with a smug face. But I could also sense some relief and regret in his eyes, perhaps from thinking he truly lost me…)

Aruji: Boschi…

(I quickly turned around, holding onto Boschi tightly, my face pressed into his chest. Taken by surprise himself, Boschi slowly reciprocated the motion and held me tight.)

Boschi: (Name)... I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make you worry for me…

(I shook my head. I never liked making the butlers believe that I was worrying them. They already have a lot to bear.)

Aruji: N-no, it’s okay… I’m just glad that we found each other again.

Boschi: … I’m glad too, my ‘partner’.

(Boschi’s smug expression made me remember what just happened earlier, saying he was my partner so casually, despite our statuses. My face felt hot as I hid it behind my shark plush, unsure of how else to react.)

Boschi: Hmm, you still have that plushie, huh?

(I peeked over the plush to look into Boschi’s eyes, nodding.)

Aruji: He reminds me of you…

Boschi: Hmm…? You think I’m a shark?

(I couldn’t help but smile shyly)

Aruji: I just think that you’re both cute~

Boschi: … Oh?

Aruji: You’re also both blue, see?

(I held up the shark plushie to Boschi, proving my point.)

Aruji: And I can hug both of you too~

(Boschi looked at the shark plushie for a bit, then snatched it from my hands.)

Aruji: H-Huh?

(Confused, I tried to take it back from him, but he held it up above me, just out of reach.)

Boschi: Now you only have one to hug~

(Boschi then took off and I went after him.)

-IKEA, Bedroom Area-

-Sometime later-

(I managed to chase after and keep up with Boschi towards the bedroom area of IKEA. Only to get pinned under him on top of one of the beds.)

(Looking into each other’s eyes, we couldn’t help but laugh. Despite some of the day’s hiccups, it was still a lot of fun playing hide and seek in an IKEA with the butlers. Perhaps next time, we can do this again.)

Boschi: Hmm? Something on your mind (Name)?

Aruji: Just imagining coming back here with you.

Boschi: Oh?

(I nodded as Boschi smiled. I then had an idea, flinging a pillow at Boschi’s head. We ended up having a bit of a pillow fight after that and also made a small pillow fort.)

Boschi: *yawns* This has been a good day…

Aruji: Are you tired Boschi?...

Boschi: Yeah, it’s been a long day. But it’s been a great one with you.

(I smiled, before letting Boschi cuddle closer to me and I stroked his hair as he drifted off. Not too long after, so did I…)

-IKEA, Bedroom Area-

-Evening-

It was now IKEA’s closing time and Haures and Ammon managed to find Boschi and their Master fast asleep and in each other’s embrace within a pillow fort, along with a blue shark plush.

Haures: Here they are… Oi Boschi, get up. We need to go now.

Boschi: Zzz…

Aruji: Zzz…

Ammon: Boschi~ It’s time to go home~

Boschi: Zzz…

Aruji: Zzz…

Haures: *sighs* It’s no use, Ammon. They’re both fast asleep… Come on, give me a hand.

Ammon: Okay~

With some effort, Haures managed to carry Boschi and their Master out of the store while Ammon handled the lil shark plush. Fennesz was in their car waiting for them, watching as Haures and Ammon helped to buckle the sleepy butler and Master in. Ammon even manages to place the shark plush in Aruji’s arms.

The car ride back home was mainly quiet, as the three awake butlers occasionally glanced at their sleeping group members, unconsciously leaning into each other as they rode along.

Even if their Master didn’t manage to find the decor or gifts they wanted to get, as long as they had more fun trips like this, there was always another opportunity to get it done.
