Excerpt from Chapter 2 (still in-progress)
River's Journal
We had a round-table discussion: What do we do about the survivors? How do we figure out if any of them can be saved.
Felix must have overheard because he went, of his own volition, on a scouting mission...to retrieve friends of ours who may have survived. Even if they had radiation sickness which couldn’t be treated, at least they wouldn’t die alone. Out of the 50,000 population of Sunset Valley, we were only able to save two who had not received enough rads to have been fatal. Holly burst into tears when she’d encountered Felix. She thought at first that he was the emissary of an alien invasion but was brought about to realize that we were still alive and that we had managed to survive the nuclear onslaught within a bunker – that in turn prompted tears of relief; she was saved.
Tumblr media
Felix also managed to save Parker Langerak, who somehow even though he was outside at the time of the rainfall, that he’d only gotten a dose of about 30 rads. Which would probably make him slightly sick, possible fever, maybe vomiting, but not enough to be fatal, thank heavens – he was only a teen, he still had his whole life ahead of him. Felix and Parker managed to make it back when the rain stopped and Holly made a mad dash for our bunker when she saw the two of them heading for the bunker.
Tumblr media
We did have to make peace with the fact that we couldn’t save all of them. This death-rain would eliminate the majority of the survivors who were left out on the surface. It also meant that we needed to stay within the confines of the bunker for as long as we could, at least until the radioactivity died down.
Tumblr media
Yumi Sekemoto came to us, pleading and begging for us to save her grandchild, Sam. She knew that she was dying. In fact, she had suffered a major dose of radiation poisoning and was quarantined away from the rest of us.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Farmer was designated to help her in her last days to make sure that her passing was comfortable. Sam, luckily hadn’t managed to get much dosage of radiation so we managed to nurse him back to health. And he looked none the worse for having lost both his father and his grandmother. Poor young Sam, Haruo and I would raise him as our own; he would be our first.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Despite how we feel, joy at the thought of raising a little one ourselves, we know deep down that Leighton should have been the one raising Sam. Sam will only know us as his parents, since he was too young to remember much of his father, his father having died when the first bombs went off as he was downtown. Then losing the only maternal figure, Sam had. We both would love Sam, but he deserved to have his father still.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Our intention as Sam’s surrogate parents was to raise him up to be a young man that Leighton would be proud of, not to replace him.
For how much longer would we have to stay within the bunker. The plumbots were equipped with on-board geiger counters, but we had none and we had no idea how they worked or how they were created. We would have to salvage some down the road if we were able to.
For how much longer would we have to stay within the bunker. The plumbots were equipped with on-board geiger counters, but we had none and we had no idea how they worked or how they were created. We would have to salvage some down the road if we were able to.
It may be that we may have to move from this place...and find a home that we can actually make a community out of. But that may be far down the road. Right now we can’t take the chance of exposure to stronger radiation than what would be healthy for us to take. We need to be able to reproduce, to bring humanity back from the brink of extinction and we can’t do that if the reproducing females of our species are rendered sterile trying to find a new home. If we’re not careful we could genetically dead-end the species.

The End of Days
Prologue:
I grew up during the Cold War, when everything seemed very tenuous. For many years, right up until the fall of the Berlin Wall, I had vivid nightmares of nuclear apocalypse. ~ Justin Cronin ...for a little town in Canada, where we grew up didn’t have much in the way of sophistication. We had a school, we had a main street in our down town, a couple of shopping centers and we had two main high-schools that were rivals to each other. We got up in the morning, went to school, and came home in the afternoon, ate dinner, did our homework and went to bed. Yet like the big cities in the United States, we did nuclear “take cover” drills. As if hiding under a desk was going to help us when the big one went off just down in Vancouver. At the time, warheads on ICBMs were at least a megaton in yield. One dropping on Maple Ridge Municipal Airport would have annihilated the entire town and left it a scorched ruin. ~ Haruo Chikamori
***************************************
River’s viewpoint
Tumblr media
It started out like any other day. It was June, school was out, the weather was warm and sunny and Haruo and I had graduated high-school. We were young adults preparing, at last, to take on the world; to make something of ourselves. Eventually, Haruo and I would have jobs and be making money enough to get married and then well, to have kids. To start a family of our own. At least that was the plan. We had just put down §14,700 on a lot of our own, after combining the savings that both Haruo and I had. Of course, we loved the lot and the fact that our intention was to improve upon it as our finances grew. We had nothing but a tent that we laid down; my only source of entertainment came from an easel that we managed to pick up. I loved painting and Haruo wanted nothing more than to make me happy. While he toiled and laboured at making a garden for us and eventually making it so that we were self-sustaining, I got to paint to my heart’s content. There were no signs that we were aware of that the plans we had would come to an abrupt end, however looking back on things now twenty years later, we had hints that we’d missed along the way. Not ominous ones that would instantaneously let us know that we were all living on borrowed time, but ones that proved to be significant when you added them all up together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like the meteor that Phil found in Central Park. To us it was a fortuitous event as it brought us a decent chunk of change. But to us that was all it was. Just a chance event that was lucrative. Well, that chance event was more than just chance. It was portent of what was coming. As it was, many more meteors would be coming from the heavens.
Tumblr media
We had all pitched in, the five of us to purchase the lot at 15 Summerhill Court which left us with approximately §42,455.00 simoleons.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While I picked up an easel and started painting, Bebe and Clarissa, Phil’s girlfriend, had gone down to Central Park to fish, while Phil had gone to pick up the remnants of the meteor that fell. Presumably Phil was going to Aleister’s to drop off the meteorites on consignment and we would see around five in the afternoon roughly how much we would get back for them. My boyfriend, Haruo, decided that he was going to go hunting for meat and gathering vegetables and fruits. Phil, however, did return before my boyfriend did so he set about creating an oven with stones that we could use to cook whatever Bebe and Clarissa managed to catch. And when my boyfriend did return he could clean and cook the fish up. Meanwhile, I was trying to get some paintings together so that I could sell them to the consignment store in hopes that would give us some money to build a shelter before winter came. For roughly about §150.00 we had a workable kitchen set-up. Bathing and eliminating waste though was another matter – the only option we had for bathing was to go down to the water’s edge and take a nice long dip in the water, washing our hair and body with a sponge. Eliminating involved digging a hole and using it to do our numbers one and two.
Tumblr media
The morning cleared up and the clouds went away. And we were blessed with a nice sunny day. Unbeknownst to us we were being prepared for the end-times with a celebration of what idyllic life was. Little did we know it was going to be our last for the longest time. How was the world going to end? We didn’t know at the time. Nor would the revelation of just how it would end gave us any comfort.

Sunset Valley - End of Days
Chapter Two - "Unlucky Survivors" - Part II
River’s Journal – December 31st, 1989 - January 6th, 1990
Tumblr media
Greg was busy playing with his Imaginary friend. He loved that doll, it seemed. Masaharu told me that one of the potions that he’d created was something that he had no idea what it did. He’d drunk one himself just to see what it did, but it did nothing – it was a gold-colored fluid and we had no idea what it was supposed to do. Hopefully Masaharu would be OK. He said he hadn’t suffered any ill-effects from it at any rate. It probably would be best if he didn’t do that again.
Tumblr media
Bebe, taking matters into her own hands knowing that Holly was lonely - there wasn’t anyone her age to pair up with. So using the science station, Bebe asked Masaharu to donate some of his genetic code so that she could make a clone of him. Masaharu, I don’t know if he really put much thought into this, but he readily agreed. I’m not sure I would have wanted another clone of Haruo wandering around with someone else. But Bebe...well, she is a bird of another feather
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, that particular science station cloning experiment failed and it seemed as though that was going to be a dead-end. However Clarissa got in on the act and decided that she would make a clone drone potion which Bebe, once she got that in her hot little hands, handed over to Masaharu who used it on himself. After the nice dark cloud that enveloped him dissipated, there was a young man who stood beside Masaharu that was practically for all intents and purposes the exact duplicate of him. He was a strapping young man who bore a striking resemblance to Masaharu. Masaharu named him Torahide. Torahide would probably get himself a haircut to differentiate himself from Masaharu, but for now...he was going to take time to get to know Holly.
Tumblr media
Because we were in this bunker and unable to go out a lot of us were going stir-crazy including the plumbots. Felix bided his time by breaking space-rocks. So could my fiancé but the likelihood of him breaking his hand was probably on the order of six times as likely as Felix. Felix has a metal hand so the worst he could get is a severe dent which he could use a ball-pen hammer to iron out – my fiancé would probably end up with all the bones in his hand shattered which now with no medical help, would require an amputation of the hand because there would be no way to put the pieces back together. I tried to keep from laughing as the last time I saw we had roughly about four or five gemstones.
Tumblr media
Now we have almost one hundred. And Felix is still going at it.
Tumblr media
Thank goodness for things to do in this bunker. Torahide gravitated towards the sculpting station and was making immediate strides in creating sculptures in clay. Currently he was working on an alluring, at least to males – it did nothing for me other than to remark on what a nice sculpture it was, sculpture of a woman in Greek robes holding a bowl. Masaharu commented that he hoped that Torahide could make one of those in stone one of these days. Hopefully Bebe didn’t hear that.
Tumblr media
My fiancé was taking the opportunity to teach himself how to play the violin. Unfortunately at this current point it was sounding like a cat was getting tortured. It would be a while before he worked his way up to it sounding like Haifetz playing the J.S. Bach Partita in B minor as my classical snob (~aside – oh I’m sorry, baroque snob...BWV 1002, II. Double, good heavens!) likes to state. With that and the fact that he had a gorgeous concert grand piano (9 footer) in the living area, we were somewhat able to take some enjoyment out of being cooped up in the bunker. To assuage his love of music, he also had a harpsichord and a organ...don’t know how he managed to fit that in there but evidently the pipes were encased within the interior walls of the bunker...with sections of wall having grates to allow the sound to somewhat escape. If it means that he won’t go bats-in-the-belfry, I’m all for it. Luckily he has not expressed a penchant to play Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor – that piece is scary enough as it is and especially considering the situation we’re in, I’m not sure I want to hear that piece again. Phil on the other hand was making friends with the younger family members. That presumably was his childish trait kicking in. He had brought plenty of comics, manga and anime to watch on TV, which luckily were not affected by the nuclear blast’s electromagnetic pulse (EMP). So he would sit for a couple of hours and watch Jem and the Holograms, Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or GI Joe.
Tumblr media
“Sandi...did you see the last episode of the Ninja Turtles?”
Tumblr media
“No...Uncle Phil...you’re weird...I don’t watch that stuff.”
Tumblr media
Mornings were a bit awkward. When we were in high-school, I was a high-school senior and...
Tumblr media
Parker Langerak was a junior, which meant that I was in my graduation year and had committed to Haruo and going steady with him when Parker started expressing interest in me. I’ve had to discourage him quite emphatically from pursuing his interest in me. And well, now we were all stuck in this bunker together.
Tumblr media
But what he realizes is that this bunker is his survival as it is with all of us. We all have to work together to move humanity forward from now on. He will find someone, but that someone won’t be me. I'm a grown woman thrown into surrogate motherhood and Parker's still a teen. He needs to find someone that he is more suited to. My fiancé Haruo has asked me to marry him and that’s the way it is now.
Tumblr media
My husband-to-be is the one who stepped up to become Sam’s surrogate father thus making me Sam’s surrogate mother so be it. Whether we feel ready for it or not, we have to step up to the plate and hope that we can succeed at raising a child from the age of toddler-hood all the way to young adulthood. And we don’t stop being a parent when they leave the nest. We are their parents for all time. The fact that Haruo has shouldered this on himself has made me love him all the more. If anyone had told me, “River, you’re going to be a mother six months after you graduate.” I would have told them that they were nuts. Yet here I am. I’m a mother to a toddler who is just about to age up to child who will be going to get tutored in things that will allow him to thrive in this new world where there are no laws regarding education nor any formal education curriculum. We have all been forced to grow up quickly in order to get by in this new situation we find ourselves in.

Sunset Valley - End of Days
Chapter One - "Laissez-Faire" (Part IV)
River’s Journal - June 25 -July 1st, 1989
Thank the Watcher, the bunker was done in record time. It appeared that one day we had a big vacant empty lot, the next a large bunker was taking shape and it would ultimately keep us safe since the excavation of the bunker had lowered the surface of our lot deep into the ground which a wall and a concrete ceiling reinforced with steel rebar of multiple layers. This meant that radiation wouldn’t get in to flood the main surface area with contamination.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The floor of our surface had been sunk thirty feet with brick and concrete forming the walls that surrounded us. From there the ground surface would allow us to plant our harvestables. Our fish on the other hand would be subject to living their lives in a large pool of water that would be our breeding ground for aquaculture. At least that would make sure that we had a good variety of foodstuffs to keep us all fed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We also managed to get two sets of dairy cows and four hen-houses into the space that was required. Plus we had additional space if necessary to move the cows to if they bred – we’re still trying to figure out how to breed the cows without the intervention of a bull. Because if there is one, it certainly isn’t apparent to us where exactly it is. Hopefully we’ll be able to snag a bull before we close up...and seal ourselves in to wait out the radiation. Or we may just have to genetically engineer cows and chickens to replenish our feed-stocks.
Tumblr media
Our garden got a boost with donations of plant-stock in order to save them from extinction. So we have a lot of things that we have to do in order to make certain that these plant species survive. And with the conjuring cauldron and being able to conjure up necessary items to plant, with some luck, hopefully we should be able to make certain that these plants will become hardy enough to survive once we return to the surface.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, up topside, while we were digging in to the bunker, the rest of Sunset Valley went along in what appeared to us to be ignorant bliss or just trying to not think about the impending heating up of the war in Europe. Everyone else in town appeared to go about their daily business as if the war did not exist across the Atlantic. The news however discussed China making preparations for war against the Soviet Union if the Soviets were going to kick-off against the West. China, as insular and Marxist as they were, didn’t want any part of a war against the West, but if they were about to get annihilated, their viewpoint was in the interests of either sitting and standing idle while nuclear weapons were lobbed in their direction, or take out their enemies both the Soviets and the West, then they would launch in a last-ditch effort to remove both threats and go down fighting.
Tumblr media
Day after sunny day passed as we worked down in the bowels of the bunker. Clarissa chose to learn alchemy, while Masaharu worked on potions and Bebe although she was a technophobe decided to work on her science skills. That was rather astounding to say in the least since the science station was highly technical and technology-related.
Tumblr media
Phil on the other hand decided to tackle robotics which he had heretofore shown no interest in technology related matters. Yet he took to it like a fish to water. And was making nanites and trait chips like nobody’s business.
Tumblr media
Bebe was learning science at the science station, irradiating bugs and making other scientific discoveries which surprisingly didn’t leave her too stressed with learning something that she was previously scared of. But at least it certainly helped matters as finances would be necessary in order to subsist in the post-apocalyptic society that we would be facing. And Bebe, bless her for overcoming any discomfort that she had in using that machine, stuck to it and learned as much as she could to the point where she could clone objects from samples. She was a trooper for doing that.
Masaharu kept at it producing one potion after another without failure. He decided to make multiple sleep potions to help us all maximize our waking hours. He also ended up trying his hand at conjuring like my boyfriend did, but he realized too late that the floor was as hard as it appeared. It was surprising with how hard he’d hit the floor that he’d escaped giving himself a solid concussion.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We used our body-clocks to determine what the time was. We didn’t have the benefit of seeing the sky outside. For all we knew it could be daylight out, but we went to sleep when our bodies were tired and got up when they weren’t. It appeared that we’d all paired off unofficially. Of course, I had no eyes for anyone else other than Haruo and he was the same towards me as a mate, so we both slept in the same bed.
Tumblr media
Bebe and Masaharu paired off too and slept together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And well, I don’t know what Clarissa sees in Phil, but the two of them were together as well. Phil, of course, being our robotics expert as well as our chef was someone one doesn’t insult. When he can make things that are supposed to defend our bunker as well as cook our food, we make absolutely certain that we are on his good side. You don’t bite the hand that feeds you.
Tumblr media
Phil had made us all some breakfast calzones. And we ate those. And they were delicious. And in fact, Phil had done quite a bit of research, a first for him, since he when we were in school, was not one for studying. But knowing that we faced at minimum a month to six months in the bunker depending on how severe the nuclear fallout was, whenever the conflict happened, we needed to make sure that we had sources of, as he said, “We need Vitamin D...if we don’t want to end up with a raging case of scurvy.” Someone was listening during history class. It wasn’t too long after that Phil made a breakthrough and constructed our first plumbot. Phil called him F3L-1X or Felix for short. He was our stocky heavy duty plumbot that would be part body-guard, part conjurer. The main reason behind this was that Phil suspected, as was soon borne out, that Felix would be incapable of wearing himself out while conjuring, unlike my boyfriend, who would practically pass out, risking severe concussion, after five conjurings. Felix could, without fail, conjure repeatedly for as long as his battery held out which was only consumed by regular activity during the course of the day. The conjuring cauldron had no effect on him. So he would be the one providing gemstones from now on and he would be the one going outside the bunker to be selling said gemstones.
Tumblr media
We’d had multiple discussions on what we could do to ensure that supply lines were still available after everything went to hell in a handbasket. Haruo’s solution was to bring the storekeepers into our bunker and have them keep the supply lines running. We needed a consignment person to take our gemstones; a storekeeper to sell our harvestable wares to as well as a bookseller. We would also conspire to bring in a relics salesperson who could provide us with the international relics that we could utilize as bargaining chips when we met up with other survivors. There were a lot of things to take into consideration as we prepared for the unthinkable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the start, Felix would use either my bike or my boyfriend’s however we decided that it would be best if we got him his own and we splurged a bit on that because we got him a hoverbike that he could ride. It was much faster than our two-wheeled form of locomotion.
Tumblr media
“We need to make sure that we have a means of transferring our gemstones into money…” my boyfriend stated to Bebe who was chowing down on her breakfast calzone around mid-afternoon. “Even if we don’t have a functioning world any more, we still need a system of barter to be able to trade between groups of survivors. Even if we have no use for gemstones, others may find it useful as a form of currency and we can get the necessary supplies we need.” “I suppose so. And as long as I can clone the gemstones that you conjure, I’ll be able to make sure that we have that ready currency to be able to barter.” was Bebe’s ready response to Haruo’s concerns.
Tumblr media
I retreated to Haruo’s and my bedroom to paint while Bebe went directly to the science station to irradiate a ladybug.
Tumblr media
Haruo went downstairs to go milk the cows and collect the eggs.
Tumblr media
From some of the exterior camera shots to keep the security of the bunker, we could note that there was one heck of an electrical storm going on outside. In the news evidently a woman had gotten hit by lightning. Evidently she was Pauline Wan. I didn’t know her personally, but I knew her by her reputation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next morning, Haruo went out to do some hunting and I set out to sell some of my paintings. My first sale was to my old room-mate when I was living with my mother. Evidently she and her daughter are doing well. Molly was now with Leighton Sekemoto and they evidently were happy together because evidently, Molly was in the family way.
Tumblr media
After spending some time with her and with my mother just chatting, I headed back up to the bunker as the sun was aiming to set.
Tumblr media
It felt good to be home and be with my boyfriend.

End of Days
Chapter 1; Part 1
The end did not come quickly. Nor was it an calamitous event being foreshadowed by many. Most would not even realize it was occurring. In fact, there were many weeks still left of existence for a lot of the people of the town. And life went on as usual.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Clarissa and Bebe were happily fishing at the Central Park pond hoping to catch enough fish to either sell or to put towards cooking a decent dinner for the five of them. After all, their mind was on making a decent shelter by fall. Phil had dropped off his prized meteorites to Dave Ramsey who was manning the till at the counter as usual at Aleister’s. Phil had managed to get them in before the deadline and hopefully they would all sell, which hopefully would bring in a pretty hefty chunk of change for the group so that they could get started with making the foundation to their new home.
Tumblr media
It also meant that Haruo who was definitively into collecting would also have to get some things started with the gemstones that he already had in his pocket – and some of them as far as River knew were valuable and would give them enough to break ground. As it was, it was going to be slow going and the five were going to be spending the majority of their time outdoors trying to keep from getting soaked when the rains came. The other alternative was to try to go down to the fitness center on the corner of Water Lily and Main or 28 Hour Fitness as it was known and use their showers and try to get some shut-eye indoors so that they didn’t get drenched. Either that or build a lean-to of sorts that they could use in a pinch. Although that didn’t seem like much. Even a glorified shack would do wonders for them. But they needed the simoleons for that and that wouldn’t come easily.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Haruo was currently over at 97 Waterfall Way harvesting some lettuce. Always nice to have greens and lettuce not only did it hold a lot of water, but it was also fibrous too – at least it would keep them constant. Just dig a nice deep hole.
Phil made some grilled cheese sandwiches, a key lime pie and spaghetti for his friends so that they wouldn’t go hungry. Now it was trying to find a table and chairs for them to eat off of.
Afterwards, Phil went off to dumpster dive for items to sell, but unfortunately, there happened to be a freak meteor storm, which ended up flattening poor Kaelynn Langerak ending her life. This would foreshadow much worse to come as the cosmic pummelling would continue.
Tumblr media
Nightfall came very quickly and a last meal was eaten by all before the five headed off to bed, which was essentially pick a spot on the ground and collapse from exhaustion. Considering it rained earlier in the night, which they had to suffer through, not only were they exhausted but wet and miserable too. Even though the rain was warm, it just made things even worse since the night was usually cold and the mornings meant that the temperature dropped even further chilling them right to the bone. But luckily it wasn’t frost but they would have to do something about the fact that they were living in the open and unable to do anything about the weather. They would need to get under some cover.
Tumblr media
The first night was absolutely uncomfortable. For all the appearances of flat ground, there were still dips, rises and indentations in the ground that meant that lying on the ground usually meant that something was going to poke into your back. River’s solution to getting the wind out of her face was to sleep under Haruo’s leg. Luckily he was so exhausted from harvesting wild plants, that he pretty much conked out and didn’t twitch a single muscle. Luckily he also didn’t let loose any gas either – that would have been singularly unpleasant.
End Part 1

Excerpt (The Chikamori Legacy)
Chapter 2 "Escape"
Haruo had so many objections to this. It wasn’t safe for her. His mother would use any and all means to separate them… that she herself would be his mother’s next target, that he couldn’t bear it if his mother made it so difficult for them that she wouldn’t be able to take the abuse and opt to leave him...
Tumblr media
“I won’t.” was River’s response… “I won’t ever leave you.” she answered his unspoken questions. “We can keep this house if you want…it will be OUR refuge instead…but I need to go to university, UBC specifically…maybe not for a half-year yet, but…I want us both to go to university, preferably the same university…and achieve our goals. It’ll make what she said about you insignificant. And prove to you that you can do it…to succeed in what you want. You love the arts, right? We can take arts together. I’m thinking of taking voice as well as the visual arts – getting a double major…” she trailed off.
Tumblr media
River was lost in the deep dark brown eyes that her friend, now was it boyfriend…had locked on her green ones. She lifted his head up to meet hers in a deep lingering kiss that spoke of intimate promise. “I love you…” she whispered against his lips.
“I…love you too…” the words seemed like they were torn from his very innermost core, the only place where hope appeared to still exist; he didn’t know where to turn in order to get help and trying to negotiate a potential course of therapy was overwhelming to the point where he was frozen – where to start even going about trying to get any sort of help; who to talk to, who to even open up to trying to find out how to even get started on the road to healing. Hoping against hope that if he opened up, he wasn’t about to get hurt again. Yet that couldn’t be for certain. Opening up oneself opened one to being hurt.

Legacy Progress is Minimal
Having run smack-dab into a brick wall in regards to any sort of writing to further The Chikamori Legacy, I'm finding that the only thing I can do is to just go back to the chapters I've already written and screencap as much of that story as I can in-game.
A lot of the problems begin when there isn't the custom content available to match the story ideas I have in the game, or the lot size prevents me from doing the type of buildings I want to in-game.
Where I live, we have a mall called Metrotown.
Tumblr media
THIS...is Metrotown. It's frickin' huge. The only way I would be able to picture this kind of lot is if we were able to do a 600x800 lot and with the Sims 3 max size lot being 64x64 yeah...nope...can't be done. If I wanted to do West Edmonton Mall in a Sims 3 "Edmonton" world, it would be even worse, since WEM is even bigger than Metrotown. In fact Metrotown is only the seventh largest shopping mall in Canada.
I was 16 when Metrotown opened. I knew a time when this particular mall didn't exist. This mall opened in 1986. Yes, I know...that makes me very OLD in comparison to the majority of people playing the Sims. After 5 decades on this planet, and a brain that is getting tired, I don't know if I'm capable of learning how to do the things that would get me to the point of being able to create the things I want to create. That would involve learning how to mesh, learning how to code in a way that would enable that particular cc to do what I want it to do in game. These are things that, unfortunately, are now beyond me in mental capability.
Part of my story is IN this mall. Yeah...there's ways around it, Maybe I can make sections of the mall and use it like a set that I can film in utilizing a save JUST for that purpose.
“What the hell are you doing?” Haruo groused at a driver who had managed to change lanes only to have to slam on his brakes to avoid impacting the rear of the car in front of him who had stopped due to the traffic snarl. That particular driver ended up locking his wheels due to the snow on the ground and slid about ten feet before managing to stop the car, just before he was about to impact the rear bumper of the car in front of him. About an inch of space separated the two bumpers. River was shaking her head at the audacity of that particular driver. Haruo rolled down the window of his own car, before exploding on the other driver giving him the finger, “Snow reduces traction, ya mental midget.” River started laughing at Haruo’s acidic derogatory comment towards the other driver’s driving abilities and his mental acuity. “That idiot nearly rear-ended the other guy.”
Somehow they managed to get to Metrotown without Haruo completely losing his shit over the stupidity of other drivers; River noted that Haruo effortlessly avoided situations that would potentially end up with other less-capable drivers into a major accident. His steering was confident and he made lane changes only when necessary. Plus he’d gotten a set of Nokian winter tires for his vehicle which ended up being the best purchase he’d made, they negotiated the snow-covered road with a surety that he wouldn’t fishtail or slide unless he did something extremely stupid. They gripped the road like there was nothing on it. He eased his vehicle into the 2nd level parkade and parked near the Chapters entrance. Upstairs was the Rainforest Cafe, but he wasn’t interested in going there at the time.
The two headed to the first level food court that was in the Metrotown section of the mall. “Oh...there’s the Manchu Wok right over there.” River told him as they walked over. The four item meal was around §19.00 and Haruo paid for two of them. They went to sit down at a table. There were vendors ranging from Western and Chinese to Greek and East Indian foods and the mix of aromas in the air from the food vendor stalls was dizzying as they partook of their meal. Once they were finished, they wandered the mall from one end to the other, arm in arm. It was the one of the largest malls in Canada at the time and by the time they were finished walking around, their feet were aching. After grabbing a drink from Orange Julius, they headed back to the car. The sun was nearing the horizon and Haruo checked the time. It was 4:30 in the afternoon. In the lengthening darkness, Haruo and River got into their Mercedes and pointed the nose back towards downtown Vancouver.
So, yeah, there is a lot of text that needs to be illustrated by screencaps. It gets rather frustrating because sometimes the emotions and gestures I want to represent in my story don't have the custom content poses that should be available or I want a specific pose that hasn't been created yet. So unfortunately, I have to make do with either what EA offers or come up with something close that someone else has created. It would be so much nicer if I could master poses so that I can create the scenes I want to screencap.
And that desire also meshes into other things. Like I want this F-14 (fully colored properly with the proper logo n' everything)
Tumblr media
For my Tosh "Animal" Nakamura sim, my OC from JAG. No he's a full-time F-14 naval aviator, not a part-timer like Harm (the main character in JAG). This is his plane, Fast Eagle 101, Texas Gal after his beloved Meg Austin.
People say, "oh, it's easy...just rip it from FSX (Flight Simulator X), drop it into Blender, clean up the bones, then convert it to a format that's usable in Sims 3 as an object." Yeah, my head is spinning right at the point of "Drop it into Blender."
Tumblr media
I'm absolutely clueless. But if I want that...I need to learn HOW to do that, right? So...where to start? ~sigh~
In the meantime I get to use stuff like Sandy's (at ATS3) McDonald's food items and restaurant decor to make a lovely little McDonald's that I can utilize...since it appears to (as in real life) be my go-to fast-food restaurant if I'm (or my sims are:) hungry.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes, that's River McIrish - it just so happens she has the same life-backstory as my real-life wife. So since we can't use self-made sims for our legacy spouses. Well, River McIrish was as good a choice as any to come to Haruo's side as his girlfriend, soon-to-be fiancée and spouse-to-be.
Well, hopefully my errant muse problem gets solved soon and I get to get on with my legacy.

Some Locatelli Concerti Grossi;
I’m looking for a Sims 3 Auditorium/Concert Hall that I can use in Chapters 6-8 of The Chikamori Legacy.
Also does anyone know how to control 25+ Sims so that they don’t get out of their confounded chairs. Secondly, I need to find a music stand (Sims 3). It’s gonna be tough to make an baroque orchestra with no music stands.
Sure wish someone comes up with other instruments. 😁

The Chikamori Legacy
Chapter Two: "Escape" (excerpt)
Tumblr media
“I don’t know how touchy I’m going to be while I’m undergoing therapy…so you and I should probably have a safe-word when you feel that I’m getting a bit too keyed up, and want to tell me that I should go into a room and cool down.” Haruo suggested. “I may slip up and I don’t want to do anything to hurt you…ever again.” He looked at River with a deeply penitent look, “The stuff they go through with me may be very anger-inducing…and I don’t ever want to take it out on you. The anger I feel inside scares me. That’s why I was scared of being with you and I wanted to be alone so that I could just live with it.” He turned away in shame.
Tumblr media
“Well...you’re not going to have to live with it alone. I want to help you...I want to be there by your side while you deal with it. And know I’m not Mayumi. I won’t ever hurt you.” River caressed his cheek.
Tumblr media
“Even when I deserve it?” Haruo asked, “Like being monumentally stupid...after all...we guys tend to do stupid shit...a lot.”
Tumblr media
River gave him a steely-eyed smirk, “How about we cross that bridge IF we get to it? As long as you don’t abuse me or cheat on me.” she raised an eyebrow, arms crossed, tapping her foot on the floor.
Tumblr media
Haruo shook his head, “No…once I commit, I don’t ever cheat.” River smiled and kissed him.
“I guess that means we’re a committed couple.” River stated. She still felt the sensation of him and it was a feeling that wasn’t comparable to anything she’d ever felt before. But then again it was their first time.
Tumblr media
“Yup, some people would say I should be committed.” Haruo quipped as a slow grin crept over his face and River snickered at the secondary inference of the word, “I guess you’re stuck with me forever.”
Tumblr media
“Well…that’s not the punishment you think it is.” She smirked at him.

Sorry, Fresh Prince...
But I had to edit the "Mercedes" with Photoshop. The California license plate just won't cut it for a story that's being set in Canada. So British Columbia plates it is. I would switch it in the game itself, but unfortunately, I'm not that well versed in doing stuff like that. But luckily, I have "mad photoshop" skillz. ~evil smirk~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Voila, no more California license plate.

Happy in Hylewood - Introduction
(since the Watcher is going absolutely nuts with the building of his "modern" house in the Legacy) *************************************************************** Narrator: Nikkei_Simmer’s mind has just taken a long walk off the map.
Tumblr media
With so much to do (building a house; creating 10 security guard sims, etc etc etc…) before he can continue with his legacy, he’s going to stick his sims on Hylewood and let them fend for themselves.
Tumblr media
Also his alter-ego or his id (in terms of Freudian psychology) has come out to play… for those of you who are coming back to the Sims 3 side of the EA forums or are browsing my Tumblr and haven't run into my more deranged characters, in the form of Evil_Haruo. Evil_Haruo comes out to play whenever the Watcher likes to cause chaos in his game…Keep in mind that Evil_Haruo doesn’t like anyone and is probably plotting all of his fellow Sims' demises, rubbing his hands in glee at the chaos he is going to cause…and cackling.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, the rest of the Sims, Good_Haruo, River and Bebe have all gone out to the beach to fish for their dinner.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Who knows what Evil_Haruo is going to do for dinner if he doesn’t get his hind end out to the pier or someplace and fish for his dinner. Otherwise he’s going to go hungry and that’s not going to make Evil_Haruo a happy camper. In fact he may even go about stealing a fish from his fellow Sims in order to get something into his stomach.
Tumblr media
Or maybe not, he decided that he was going to go fish (and not the card game either).
Tumblr media
With this particular game, the Watcher is going to add in a Sim every day for a week, he has started with four sims. Good_Haruo, Evil_Haruo, and he will have 11 by the time he is finished adding Sims to his game. With the Watcher…that will be 12 sims in total.
Tumblr media
The Watcher is just going to sit and observe the chaos and hope to heck he doesn't go completely bug-cranking nuts.
Tumblr media
The Watcher decided he was going to go pick flowers. At least it was something to do and he wasn't much of a fisherman anyways. At least he didn't get hayfever, unlike the real Watcher. Those flowers always make him sneeze.
Tumblr media
Evil_Haruo was hanging out by the water wheel…fishing. He really wasn't too good at it. He'd only caught two goldfish and a toad. Toads were not great for eating. And there was no elixir consignment shop. Which meant he had to keep that noisy croaking thing in his pocket. Man, his pocket was going to start stinking up the joint.
Tumblr media
River was having much better luck at the fishing. She had four minnows, a rainbow trout and four toads.
Tumblr media
Bebe on the other hand had been fishing for some time now and she had amassed only two minnows, a rainbow trout and a toad.
Tumblr media
Surprisingly, Haruo, the angler of the group, hadn't caught much other than a sea-sludge and an anchovy. The sea-sludge isn't edible as far as the Watcher knows.
Tumblr media
And the Watcher thinks that fishing is boring anyways. A bunch of tossing hooks in the water and hoping that something finny is stupid enough to bite…and get caught. But that's probably because he hasn't managed to hook anything yet. Maybe it might be more exciting if he actually managed to catch something. But anyways, he did make over §8500.00 today just from picking flowers. At least that ought to get him enough to buy a fish off his sims to eat.

Excerpt from The Chikamori Legacy
Registration Hall, Student Union Building, UBC Campus
Tumblr media
River and Bebe headed into the building. “Wow, these buildings are old.” Bebe exclaimed as she looked up at what ordinarily would be bell-towers but held no bells. It was almost akin to Baroque architecture. However, it was more of a design feature than attributed to the actual age of the building. And frankly, it meant that the building was more designed for aesthetics rather than practicality. It appeared as though the building would be more at home on a European College such as Eton than on North American soil but hail to the blue and gold, Hail UBC. It made the campus distinctive.
Signs were pointing their way to the different stations to get their forms and courses. Of course it was all done alphabetically and thus each station separated into individual classrooms were assigned based on the first letter of the last name. Station 1 being from A-E, Station 2 being from F-J, Station 3 from K-O, Station 4 from P-U and Station 5 being from V-Z. And there were huge lineups at each.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Bebe, I guess I’m in Room 126 Station 3. You’re in Room 142 across the hall. Station 2.” They looked at the sign and then at each other briefly.
Tumblr media
“We should have used Chikamori and then we’d both be in the same room in Station 1.” Bebe grinned. River laughed cheerily.
Tumblr media
“See you in about three hours.” She grinned at her friend.
“Oh my god…I’m gonna be famished by then. I’m gonna be crawling to Hogan’s. And our boys won’t know where in heck we are if we collapse. I’m gonna go get a Coffee Crisp before I go stand in line. Maybe the sugar rush will help me keep from falling flat on my face.” Bebe said cheerily as she waggled her fingers at River. “Toodles. See you in about three, maybe four hours."
Tumblr media
“You bet.” River returned as she headed over to stand in line. At least her nemesis, Lisa Bunch still had two more years of high-school left. And Lisa’s grades weren’t good enough to get her into university. Not without major remedial education to get her grades up. So River was finally free of that little conniving bitch who’d tried to break her and Haruo up. So that was a good deal.
Tumblr media
Three hours standing in line seemed to drag. They would get their assigned course schedule at the stations as well so that they knew what their classes were. They could choose to drop courses or pick up courses as well, but River chose to keep her course schedule the way it was instead of dropping any. That way all her electives were taken care of before September and she would only have to deal with core courses for her degree during the two semesters spanning Fall, Winter and Spring. She was debating taking electives through Summer semester next year too so that she could get through those leaving her free to work on her core courses during the school year. It meant no time off, but it also meant she could get through university much easier than if she carried a full course load (both electives and core courses throughout two semesters).

Installing Great Bear on to my little Dell potato.
Man, I hope my poor computer doesn't explode.
🤣
The reason is I needed a "passage world" where I'm going to document my sims' journey from Sunset Valley (Les Sims 3 Sunset Died) to a new world where they're going to settle in and try to start families.
