There’s something meaningful swirling between them neither cares to acknowledge but can’t help but feel. Han elongates her body up towards him at the same time Bryce moves closer.
It’s glorious.
To feel him. To have his hands trailing her body, tracing more defined curves that were only shadows before. To trace the slope of his shoulders with her fingertips and feel the taut muscle there. To be pulled closer and closer, and twirled to a dance he’s leading.
Fireworks exploded in her gut, every nerve ending on fire. It was too slow and moved too fast at the same time. One of his hands holding her head in place as he slipped his tongue between her awaiting lips. Hannah moaned softly as his tongue moved with hers. As he kissed her slow and purposefully. As she let herself get lost in the way he tasted like hops and home - earthy and reassuring, like the the gentle folds of waves as they sat on the sand in a dream she’s always coveted. She’s lost to the feeling, putty in his hands as she lets him take control.
She’s pulled forward, tugged by the lips as Bryce backs himself up to sit on the bed. Hands fisting in her waist as he draws her towards him once more, missing the press of their bodies. Han’s helpless but to do anything but lift her legs to straddle him - precariously kneeling at the edge of the mattress trying to keep her full weight off him. But he pulls her down harder. Kisses her into delirium until she can’t keep herself up. Wanting every bit of their bodies touching.  Leaning in, her arms wrapped around his neck and fingers fisted in his sun-kissed locks, heads tilting together deepening the kiss. His fingers running delicately across her body, careful and purposeful and feather-light that made her skin tingle, arching asking for more of everything.
And he’s handling her with care. God, she doesn’t want to think. Doesn’t want her brain to ruin this and compare it to her fantasies, or worse - think about how she compares to all his past others. So she kisses him, harder. Gives a guttural beg of ‘please’ as her hips roll into his. Bryce is all too eager to oblige - to obliterate everything else but here and now.
Hands move to places unseen. Places friends don’t explore with friends.
There’s never been anything friendly between them.
It’s more. More gasps and moans as lips find hidden treasure. More please. More off. More hands everywhere. More clothes on the floor. Hearts beating erratically.
“You’re beautiful,” he all but whispered in earnest. Soft amber eyes on hers, boring and imploring her to believe him.
The look of reverence on his face as he uncovered more bits of her body she always kept covered up... - it was so much.
For the first time Hannah Weill felt herself bloom under the attention.
Instead of closing her eyes and letting it happen, she took control. Her hands trailed down his chest to the hem of his top.
“I want to see you,” she muttered against his lips and her fingers worked to expose the hot skin underneath.
He raised his arms and she slid off his top.
A second passed. Then another with only shallow breaths passing between them. Her silver stare stuck on the dips of his chest, the curves of this man’s body.
“Touch me.”
So she does. Her filed nails trailing, exploring his pecs and down to the outline of abs that surely weren’t there when they’d known one another. He’s muscular and manly, not soft and boyish. Far from the fantasy she used to have of him - of them together over years and years. And he has tufts of chest hair now too. Her finger cards through the wiry strands that curl around her fingertip.
He watches her, hands on her hips still rooting her there.
He wants to say something, so does she. But what can you really say at a moment like this. Idle conversation couldn’t withstand the moment.
When words fail mouths move.
Bryce took one of her breasts in his mouth. Shifted her higher up his body to eagerly plop his lips around her. Her hand found the back of his head and she held him in place while he flicked his tongue across her nipple before grazing his teeth and nipping her just enough to elicit a whimper.
Without complaint he moved to the other, lavishing her body in the only way he’d know how. It’s too much. The circles he was swirling against her sensitive skin mimicked the patterns she was grinding against him, driving them both wild - seeking pressure that wasn’t close enough. His hand slid between them to thumb at her center through her jeans, trying to match her place and give her some release. But it wasn’t enough.
An annoyed whine passed her lips, a huff as she pushed his shoulders away. “Off,” she declares as soon as his concerned gaze met hers, and Bryce drops his hold completely. Lets her get off him, disappointment beginning to creep into his brow.
She steps back, just enough to fully use all her limbs without any impediments. His eyes are still on her and she watches him, too. Stares with a sinister smirk as her thumbs work the buttons of her jeans. Bryce catches her eye, as much as the sight of watching her strip could be his undoing, he quirks a brow in askance.
She nods and no sooner does he rid himself of his trousers. The speed and fumbling by which he obliges endearing as ever. This isn’t weird, or awkward as most first times would go. No, this is a long time coming. They’ve played this scene out many times in the back of her mind.
Hannah moves towards him, but Bryce keeps her at arms length. His eyes rove her body - curvy and alabaster and every flaw on display with the din of the foyer light spilling in on her like a spotlight. And for a brief moment she recedes into herself - steels herself from the rejection that’s about to come. This was nice, but it’s over now. This isn’t supposed to happen for them. Unrequited love is meant to be just that - fruitless and never real.
Bryce breathes, wanton and wanting. “You’re beautiful.”
“Thank you,” what else is she meant to say.
His hands caress her sides, up and down the swell of her hips, her waist, the sides of her chest. Pads of fingers ghosting her breasts, circling her areolas as he considers her attentively. She waits. And waits for the rejection she knows is coming.
“B-” there it is, on the tip of his tongue, the but we should stop.
She knows it’s coming and the strings of her chest are dangling by a frayed thread, waiting to drop. Her lips part, ready to finish the sentence for him, her eyes darting to the side to find the quickest path to her clothes. But
“Before we continue…” he strides over to his rucksack, riddles around for two heartbeats too long, and finds what he’s looking for. The look on his face as he saunters over holding the ream of two condoms is contagious enough to have her smiling back. “Safety first.”

OHFFs Advent Calendar: Day 7
Tumblr media
An Evening in December
Submitted by: @utterlyinevitable
Pairing: Bryce x F!OC (Hannah Weill)  Rating: 17+ Word Count: 1.4k   Summary: They run into one another at a bar a few years later. This takes place some time after What If.   Tropes: Meet Again; Pining; FWB; mini series mayhaps?
a/n: this exists in Moments From Another Life, where Bryce and Hannah were high school something-or-others and they’re just two people that can never get the timing right.
Tumblr media
The bar is dim, dark. As deep at the late December sky. Old sconces and dated neon signs hang unintelligibly on the mid-century red brick wall casting hues of white and red throughout the cramped space. It seems every twentysomething had the same idea: a Friday night warming themselves among likeminded bodies and the cheapest drinks in town.
Hannah Weill is bobbing and weaving, sidestepping around groups in makeshift bubbles all their own, making her way back to the group with her third drink of the evening. Carefully balancing her cocktail close to her chest whilst twirling around warm bodies. She’s tipsy, not drunk. Definitely not drunk enough to conjure things or bump into a stranger. Unless… that stranger wanted her attention.
Maybe she was seconds from knocking square into him. Maybe he purposefully made his way into her path. Maybe she saw him out the corner of her eye and stopped short, caught in the headlights of an old daydream.
It didn’t matter who did what. For he was standing before her, a crooked and signature boyish smile gleaming on his thin lips.
“Hey.”
“Hi.”
Maybe they said more (formalities on how they are, what he’s doing here, why he’s in her city). Maybe they kept it short (too tongue tied for what to say in the face of an almost-lover, one more time). Maybe they read the room (the electric laced hope radiating off every corner of this dinghy little place neither of them would find themselves in way back when and surrounding them). Maybe there was really only one question to ask.
He asks it out of humble curiosity, a flippant formality for taking up her time. The words come out lighter than candy floss in his cadence.
“You here with anybody?”
Hannah should be studying (but when has she ever done what she is supposed to). Instead, she’s out with her close friend Shelley, and a couple guys (plus one fifth wheel) who think they’re taking the girls home, planning on having a good time.
She shook her head at his question, nodding in the direction of her friends trying not to stare and wishing they could eavesdrop. One pair of blue eyes trying to keep a noncommittal façade as his brother speaks into his ear,
“Isn’t that your girl?”
Hannah sees none of that. Doesn’t even feel the way that guy’s sharp gaze is shortening the strings between them, willingly reeling her in and away from that stranger. The only thing in focus is Bryce Lahela. Everything is a blur of light stream stripes drowning the rest of the world out. It’s Hannah and Bryce, and the nostalgic tunes softly scoring it all.
“Just some friends,” she responds. “You?”
Bryce responds quickly, a half nod that should help explain why he is here (in her bar, her city);
“Healey.” He motions to an opposite corner - Hannah can just about make out the back of Danny’s head above the crowd. She’s hit with a recollection that Danny Healey plays football at the college down the hill. That Bryce and Danny were teammates in high school - good friends to this day, still.
Memories come in short bursts, playing like Hogwarts portraits as her mind races the moving stairs. Making her way back to something comfortable. Calling back on who she used to be. A glimmer of the Cool Girl he once had feelings for.
A raise of a thick brow accompanied by a teasing smirk paves the way for her sassy remark;
“How’s that working out for you?”
Bryce chuckles. He can’t help it; it’s a Pavlovian response to her good-natured digs. He moves to take a sip of his beer, then thinks better of it. Should probably say something.
Maybe he does. Maybe they’ve side-stepped out of the carved pathway for prolonged moments so no one asks them to move or shoves them out the way. Innate movements to keep what they’ve found.
Maybe they’re standing in the midst of a packed bar for minutes upon minutes, reconnecting. Inching closer and closer. Building the foundations of a chapter they never got to finish. Minutes passing and her friends are chancing glances, taking bets.
Maybe the conversation fizzles out and their eyes are still stuck on the other. The rush of emotions from all that time ago rises, bubbles through like the start of an eruption. Eyes roaming features (how they’ve changed, matured in the lost time, yet still look as good as they did back then). He’s more defined, she’s lost weight. His presence still engulfs her, and hers does the same to him. Maybe they haven’t really changed at all if they’re willing to forego their night for a minute of each others time. For an opportunity to be fifteen again.
Maybe she moved first. Maybe he did. Maybe they both took the leap with liquid courage hanging amber and hazel stars in their eyes.
Before either knows it his lips are ghosting hers, his free hand cradling her neck with deftly delicate fingers. For a fraction of a second he’s there waiting and ready, doing what he should have countless times before.
And with the eyes of no one from their past, the anonymity of this place (this city, this bar), Hannah curls her toes to close the distance.
Light and warm. The weight of the moment overpowering the alcohol coating their lips and drowning the bar out. White flashes behind her eyelids and she has never felt more alive.
A step closer, and closer still.
Until their bodies are flush and her fingers are burrowed in the fabric of his sweater, her drink precariously kept upright between their bodies. The sweating bottle of his beer pressed into her back. Lips parting, mouths opening, tongues exploring. They stand tied up in the middle of the crowded bar until their lungs beg for breath. Even then they barely part. That if they do they’ll wake up from this dream and be nothing to one another once again.
Hannah’s chest is all but heaving. Her eyes hooded and dazed, stuck on the lips she finally got to kiss. Her fists frozen around his sweater. They have barely had time to fill their lungs when he speaks. Bryce’s breaths caressing her flushed features as he says,
“Wanna get out of here?” Asks with pure, raw hope and sheer optimism to rewrite the past.
He sees her eyes widen, dart to the side, the shape of her lips rounding on an excuse. So he’s quick to rectify -
“I have a room.”
Her grey eyes get impossibly bigger, her mouth shuts and then just as his fingers itch to keep her in this moment a sly smirk finds him and she’s saying, “Yes.”
His megawatt smile shines. Bryce is quick to break free of their embrace just enough to deposit his half drunk bottle on the nearest surface whilst Hannah downs the rest of hers. He grabs her hand, leading her through the crowded maze and out the door.
Stepping out into the real world the pair are met with a gust of evening chill as the dive door slams behind them. They stop in their tracks, glance at the other like it was part of some script. And just like a prewritten scene they’re merely replicating, they drop their adjoined hands.
The icy upstate air brings fresh views. Bryce and Hannah don’t need to talk, they simply know what comes next.
In synch they reach into their respective pockets and pull out their phones to text their friends they left - well, Bryce does. Hannah doesn’t even bother to look at the four unread messages from Shelley, all she texts back is: Bryce. That name says more than she could put in words. Conveys more than she could type in the short few seconds that she has left them and Him behind for one night with her biggest what if.
“Hey.”
Bryce’s voice is low, hoarse and weighted with all the promise of tonight. He reaches out, wraps his hand around the one not holding her phone like a vice, tugs her by the tips of her fingertips towards him - into him. Bryce Lahela kisses Hannah Weill with every reckless thing he’s harbored the last few years.
Hand-in-hand, the cold dampened by the electric courage flowing freely, Bryce and Hannah briskly made their way down the road to the local hotel.
All the while three pairs of eyes watch them through a frosty window.

Our award-winning exhibition “Influencers: Art and History on South Mountain Road” will close Sunday.
Please join us at the History Center today, tomorrow Friday and Sunday, from noon to 4pm if you would like to see this informative and interesting show.
Named for its geographical location at the southern base of the ridge that ends at the High Tor peak overlooking Haverstraw Bay, South Mountain Road is a winding four-mile stretch of road with a rich and varied history. Originally inhabited by Munsee Lenape Indians, the valley became home in the early 1700s to Dutch and English settlers who farmed and quarried local sandstone deposits. The landscape remained relatively unchanged until the early 20th century, when South Mountain Road was discovered by a group of artists and intellectuals seeking respite from New York City. From 1908 through the present, South Mountain Road has provided shelter to an enclave of creative people who have left lasting marks not only locally but also on the wider world of art and letters.
"Influencers" uses objects, archival material, images, and works of art from the artists' family and from the collections of the Historical Society of Rockland County and Rockland Center for the Arts to explore how the landscape of South Mountain Road influenced its many residents over the course of the twentieth century and how, in turn, the artists and intellectuals who found inspiration here influenced one another. Among the notable residents of "The Road" featured in the exhibition are John and Mary Mowbray-Clarke, co-founders with the painter (and fellow Rockland resident) Arthur B. Davies of the 1913 Armory Show that introduced Modernism to America; the sculptor Hugo Robus; the ceramicist and painter Henry Varnum Poor; the poet Amy Murray; the playwright Maxwell Anderson; the textile artist Ruth Reeves; the painters Morris Kantor and Martha Ryther; the composer Kurt Weill and his wife, the actress Lotte Lenya; the cartoonist Milton Caniff; and the actor and director John Houseman.
Despite intensified surburban encroachment since the 1980s, South Mountain Road has managed to retain much of the rural character with modern convenience that attracted artists to it more than a century ago. From early efforts to reclaim rustic farmhouses to today's work to protect the West Branch watershed and save Henry Varnum Poor's Crow House, South Mountain Road also reveals a legacy of environmental conservation and historic preservation that go to the core of the unique culture of Rockland County.
We are also pleased to announce that our semi-permanent exhibition "Rockland Voices" will feature a special mini-exhibition for 2019: Crow House: Handmade by Henry Varnum Poor. Henry Varnum Poor seemed to turn everything he touched into art. Perhaps nowhere is this more evident than in the house and studio he designed and built as a place of comfort for his family on South Mountain Road in New City. How it was conceived, constructed, and enjoyed are illustrated through archival images and documents. Contemporary photographic images from the past decade help shed light on the present condition of this important artist's home and studio and beg the question: What does the future hold for Crow House?
Thanks to the Smithsonian Archives of American Art, Elizabeth Felicella, Caroline Hannah, Julie Scholz, Chuck Stead, and Karen Zukowski.
The exhibition runs through October 27 and is open to the public, free of charge, on Wednesdays-Fridays and Sundays, 1-4 pm, and by appointment. Please note that the HSRC will be closed, however, on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019.

b&h, back again.
Bryce went about his day like normal. Compartmentalizing, mostly. Work work work, burying thoughts of Hannah. Whenever she was in the same postcode all he could think about was her - what he could do to her, what he did to her, and how soon he could do it again. Bryce didn’t even know if he liked her anymore - hell, they’ve been in each other lives for fifteen years and he’s not sure if he actually knows her. He knows what she likes in bed, how she takes her drink, the setting of her airconditioner, and that she uses soap and body wash in the shower. He knows she’ll never be awake before 9am and never to attempt small talk.
They’ve known each other so long.
She was friends with his sister, always around on the weekends. A permanent fixture in his life. There wasn’t an evening that there wasn’t Hannah - at his house or in his phone. Even back then Hannah was a bitch, jaded and sarcastic beyond belief. Every word she said had a hidden intention, never conveying what she truly means. One hoop after another with this one. Over time, Bryce got used to it, even found her off-putting devil-may-care demeanor endearing. Who Hannah was in the confines of their bubble certainly was not who she presents to the outer world. He knew she was never intending to be rude, deep down she always had to protect herself.
She was never off-putting when they were alone, together. It’s like she blossoms just for him. Bryce had never been shy about his affection for her, he’d put himself out there in actions rather than words. In hindsight, he probably should have told her how he felt instead of playing this flirting game with her. Maybe things could have been different, because he certainly knew that Hannah was either oblivious to his intentions or just.. He doesn’t know what else could have been going through her mind.
Hannah Weill was Bryce Lahela’s first everything. In relative secrecy. Until one of them started seeing someone else, and then when it ended they’d fall back into they’re fucked up situation once again. They never really hung out; she was artsy and he was into sports, she read books and he played video games. Their paths only ever crossed weekend nights, when she’d come over to hang out with his sister and the little gang they’ve seemed to create. His favorite were the nights they would sit at the beach, be outside of his house, hopping fences, skinny dipping, or drinking. Sometimes all at once.
They had a history of flirting. Heavy petting and flirting and clandestine teenage moments. Never dating, though. They’ve never been on a proper, traditional date. A meal or a drink here or there, never anything romantic. He’s wanted to ask her out hundreds of times, but she’s Hannah. She doesn’t date. Doesn’t get attached. Refuses to fall in love, From what he could gather from all the shit his sister would spew about the way Hannah lives her life. Years later, he’ll come to learn she wouldn’t date him because of Keiki, amongst a myriad of other reasons. The biggest of which being she didn’t want to get stuck in their hometown. At the time it both stroked his ego and sped up his heart that she thought she could like him so much she wouldn’t pursue her dreams.
Oh, fuck. He’s thinking about her again.
Five o’clock can’t come soon enough.

aaa thank you 💓 i’ll do these for my oph mc/ocs
2. What do strangers notice about them first?
People are always first drawn to how attractive Odette is and impeccably dressed. The bright eyes and extra-long platinum blond ponytail of her signature look really does turn heads.
If a stranger was looking across the street and saw Becca, they’d be drawn in by her charisma. She would also probably be talking animatedly with her arms and hands flailing everywhere. They’d want to know what the conversation is about.
People notice how closed off Hannah is. The permanent bitch face and ‘don’t bother me’ vibes that radiate off her.
11. What color do they look strikingly good in?
Odette: any shade of blue or muted pink
Becca: forest green
Hannah: rosewood/wine red
15. Are their greatest flaw and their greatest strength related and in what way? (ie very caring and helpful but a doormat, or very observant and shrewd but often paranoid)
uhhhh hm. this is a hard one! idk if i’ve answered the question properly...
Hannah’s greatest flaw is that she is guarded and keeps herself from getting emotionally invested in pretty much anything. Her greatest strength is that she is helpful and often the person people call when they’re going through shit (granted, if Hannah is in the same timezone/city at the time and hasn’t burned that bridge down).
Becca’s greatest flaw is that she cannot handle her own emotions and often doesn’t acknowledge/talk about them. Her greatest strength is that she cares so much about everything and wants the best for everyone.
Odette’s greatest flaw is that she lets people off the hook too often, very dormat-esque because she hates confrontation and avoids it at all costs. Her strength is that she’s observant and always there to help those in need.

OC asks numero uno (I can't be bothered to look further down the list yet) for at least Odette... But feel free to go through as many characters as you'd like 😆
bahaha thanks ren 🥰
1. How does your OC feel about their full name?
ohhh this is a good one!
Odette Pandora Hall was made fun of for her odd name (Odette Pandora. Really, where did they come up with this name? Has Violette written all over it tbh, David was just happy to have a baby.) in early grade school. Her mother Violette told her that they’re probably just jealous of how smart and pretty she is, whilst her dad David taught her that there’s strength in being unique. She owned who she is and her unusual name provided the perfect inspiration for her stage name.
Becca Carolina Lao has a weird relationship with her name - she doesn’t feel all that attached to it, but she also doesn’t know what other name she’d choose if she could. She was always called Rebecca by everyone in her family, ‘Becca’ was only adopted by her group of friends when she was 15/16. Her full name - Rebecca Carolina - was just a name Donda chose the day she was born, no deep connection or meaning behind it. And for that, Becca always kinda felt a little lost in the identity department. Now, as an adult, she’s found herself and feels confident in being Rebecca Ramsey Lao.
Hannah Amelia Weill recreates herself constantly. So many nicknames that bring out facets of her personality. She’s the type of person that changes who she is dependent on who she’s with and where. She’s not attached to one name or one identity. Honestly the girl doesn’t know who she is. That’s why she makes so many mistakes. And why Theo fucks her up in the best way.
