The wish of the heartbroken vampire - Vkm ch. 34

After hundreds of years Aidou finally managed to discover the formula that can cure vampires and turn them into humans.

His task accomplished, the first thing he does is looking at Sayori's portrait. A bittersweet smile molded on his face.

The sour tenderness of someone who is ready to embrace death and reunite with the love of his life in the Heavens.

You can almost concretely touch his pain.

He could do it. He could inject the drug and die in peace in this very moment.

But not yet.

Aidou grievously choose to postpone the meeting with his loved one.

He knows the range of his research can worsen the already unstable balance between the races.

And this is my favourite character : Aidou is not selfish. He sets aside his wish, the same wish that prevented him from losing his sanity, for the sake of the collective good. He's a character fundamentally moved by the purest kind of love. Towards his family, his friends, and his wife.

To me, he is the true hero of this story.

I just had the most nonessential crossover come to me in a dream.

Katekyou Hitman Reborn!/Vampire Knight, where the driving point is that Yuuki awakens her Sky Flames the exact moment she perceives that she needs to rip jolly old uncle Rido's head off because otherwise he's going to kill her Sun and Lightning, (Zero and Kaname respectively).

Like, that entire dream just straight up devolved into a fucking bar Brawl between Yuuki and Rido while others observe. It was strangely beautiful.

Zero doesn't have a chance to even talk with Ichiru before Yuuki pulls Rido's heart out of his chest cavity.

For refrence, I have since figured out her entire element scheme.

Sun - Zero Kiryuu (Fully Harmonized Upon Activation. Most definetly doesn't cry like a little bitch upon said moment. No siree, completely dry-eyed, whatever Ichiru says is a bald-faced lie.)

Lightning - Kaname Kuran (Their Flames brush upon Activation, and while Yuuki Is Very Much MINE she's also too weak to have more than a very surface level bond with him, which contributes to their continued lack of romance in this AU. Ten thousand years man, it does shit to your Flames. He's really fucking lucky Bermuda hasn't sensed a Disturbance and come to hound his ass over certain aspects.)

Mist - Shiki Senri (Reported: Cousins get on like a house on fire when they team up to beat the shit out of the formers abusive father. Seriously, full blown Harmonization the moment he realizes that she is, legitimately, trying to goudge out his fathers brain.)

Storm - Wakaba Sayori (Fully Harmonized Upon Activation. The one Guardian you don't wanna piss off amongst the line-up. The one who actually has to explain Flame Fuckery to everyone.)

Cloud - Aidou Hanabusa (This is probably the least secure of her bonds because it happens in direct accordance with Shirabuki Sara trying to force a bond down her throat as a safety-net to keep her alive in case her plans fail. Hanabusa... yeah, he doesn't take it well.)

Rain - Ichiru Kiryuu (Who summarily survives this AU because there are exactly two ways to escape a Sky's harmony, and one of them is most definitely not fucking dying. Seriously. Latent Sky Instincts have Yuuki badgering this little idiot until he decides that Spite is only going to frustrate him in the long run. Kid is too afraid to die once Yuuki's flames go active, because he knows she will become a fully fledged necromancer in his honor.)

Probably to actually bring in over the crossover cast proper via Simon Fuckery. #Nagisa. The name I typically attach to Kaien's presumed Hunter Twin. Was a Sun Flame like Zero. #The only Sea Flame in this entire cast is probably Abyss Secondary-Raim Primary Touya Rima.

Zero came in to check on Hanabusa. In fact, his goal was to see if Aidou's feelings towards Kaname had changed.

Why did he mention Zero, though?

Kaname beheaded Aidou's father. By that time Kaname had wanted to turn everyone against him.

He's done a lot of damage to Zero, too. Much more damage. Aidou states that Zero is consumed by hatred for Kaname, but why does he criticise Zero?

Kaname had his entire family killed, and has tormented Zero for years. (I'm not hating on Kaname!) While Aidou lost his father only.

I understand him, he has mixed feelings, even if teenage Kaname warned that he's a liar; but he shouldn't have brought Zero into that. Zero's feelings are fair. (Zero understands Kaname to a certain extent and he knew long before Yuuki that he intented to kill himself)

SYNOPSIS | Kaname and Zero as satin bowerbirds, inspired by that one BBC Earth video.

One Kiryuu Zero was suddenly without a home. 

Why, you ask? 

Mating season was coming soon, and according to his (not) father it was the duty of every healthy young male to build his own nest and try to impress a female so that the two of them may venture forth with their mating shenanigans. 

(And with the continuation of their species, of course.)

Personally, Zero was content with not doing something so needlessly tiresome. Perhaps some members of his species did enjoy indulging in the attentions of the fairer sex--a certain Aidou Hanabusa certainly came to mind--but Zero would prefer to be left alone and in peace. 

There was nothing wrong with not wanting to put his reproductive organs to good use. Evolution might have given him the ability to... well, to put it delicately, spread his genes, but evolution also had given Zero the brain that allowed him to make the conscious choice not to do so. 

Unfortunately for him, his (not) father was not having any of it and before Zero could blink twice the young man had been evicted from their shared nest rather unceremoniously. His (not) father had waved goodbye, large crocodile tears streaming down his face as he proclaimed that he was so proud of Zero becoming a man. 

Zero had dropkicked the idiot back into his nest before flying off. 

Smoothing his ruffled feathers, Zero tucked his wings away and made for the riverbank. Although he wasn't going to be looking for a mate this upcoming season (or in any future season), he also had no desire to spend the rest of the summer months without a comfortable nest to rest in. 

Maybe he would be able to find some solid stones to use as the foundation for his new home...

Or maybe he was going to find the king of all jackasses wandering up and down the river as well. 

"What an unexpected surprise, Kiryuu-kun." 

Zero stared unenthusiastically back at the brunet. "Kuran." 

He wasn't sure what exactly he had done wrong, but the older Kuran brother seemed to hate Zero's very existence. As far as Zero could remember, Kuran had taken offense to Zero's presence. To be fair, Zero also had heard that Kuran's infamous sister complex was nothing to scoff at, and considering just who his sister's best friend was...

That was still no reason for Kuran to constantly stare at him like that. 

"Well then, I must be on my way--" 

"Wait, Kuran." He noticed that the older man was holding a handful of blue trinkets, and very belatedly Zero realized that oh right, Kuran didn't take a mate last season. And if that was the case, then, "You've...already built your nest, right?" 

Honestly, if he had any other viable options, Kuran would be the last person he'd ask advice from. But Zero was not stupid. His own dislike of the brunet aside, he knew that Kuran was probably the best option he had for survival. The older man was known for being resourceful and clever, and while he had yet to take a mate it was rumored that he had been the one to raise Yuuki after their parents died. 

Zero ignored the did you think I was collecting trinkets for fun look from Kuran and squared his shoulders as he plowed ahead with his request, "Could you...could you give me a few tips on how to build a proper nest?"
