Cures from Horrible History

I'm only accepting positions from now on where I can dress like a witch, apparently.

This is my Medical Treatments from Horrible Histories program for our local Halloweenie Roast! I didn't expect kids and adults alike to be so entranced with it. Each prop/card is a different ailment in history, some not so long ago, that legitimately were treated in ways that were completely crazy sounding and ineffective, plenty even fatal.

Cancer? Drink a concoction of sugar, nutmeg, ground woodlice, and urine. Arthritis? Here's some radium. Actually, throw radium at anything and everything. Fever? Grind some mallow flower and snails to eat.

Need those fussy, overcrowded orphans to sleep? Godfrey's Cordial will do since it's full of opium. Smallpox? Go rub up on a cow and get cowpox instead. Rabies? Shove some hair of the dog in the wound or swallow it.

Actually, only one of the remedies on this table worked, and it's one of the ones listed here. Which is it?
