My Soul Is Calling You Home

Summary

After that fateful summer of 1993 nothing stayed the same. Both, Steve and Danny, had tried to move on. Danny made a living as a cop working with the NWPD, taking care of his family. Steve served in the Navy as the outstanding SEAL he had become. The deep emotional trauma the guys had lived through, getting separated, had marked their hearts with unhealed wounds. Despite the life they had built apart from each other it was fate that made them move back to Hawai'i. They would meet again after all those years. Their souls were calling them home by a love bigger than life with no chance to ever shake it off. At their second first meeting, Danny and Steve were grown men with years of life apart from each other. Love is a sacred being, it never lets go of those who belong together.

This story is the sequel to my High School AU 'Eyes As Blue As The Ocean'.

see the thing is. the thing is, H50 never successfully queerbaited me while it was still running, right, because I never thought they’d actually do it. They queerbaited me in the sense that I am a queer who was baited into watching other queers, but I also knew that PLenkov & CBS would never actually let McDanno go canon, so I wasn’t technically queerbaited. While it was running. However, now that it’s over....... 

the Lenkoverse shows are canonically closely linked, right? Jerry was a major character for an ep of MacGyver last season, Kamekona and Noelani are regular guest stars on Magnum. so what if.  what if one of those shows made it canon. they don’t even need Scott or Alex to do it they just need someone who regularly interacts with/is part of Five-0. Hell, Magnum could do it with Kamekona or Noelani. Like, Magnum rolls up to Kamekona’s truck to ask him for something, and in the middle of convo asks, “Hey, is Commander McGarrett back from his trip yet?”, and Kame gestures to one of the tables and goes “yeah, I had to watch him and his man smooching over there the other day. Don’t know how Junior stands living with ‘em, I don’t.” 

Magnum’s like “....smooching?” 

Kame just stares at him until he nods and goes “Yeah, okay, smooching. Anyway.” Like. throwaway lines. That’s subtle enough to get past the CBS censors! PLenkov no longer has any creative control! It could happen. It’s not going to happen, but it could. H50 is my own personal Supernatural, haunting me from beyond the grave.

Wait I just realised Danny moving to Hawaii to be with Grace is literally the polar opposite of what John did to Steve and Mary. Like no wonder Danny’s parenting is one of the things Steve instantly latches onto as ‘I am going to love you forever for this specifically’ - John sent his kids an ocean away from him while Danny moved himself across an ocean so that his kid wouldn’t be taken away from him

I just. love the recurring trope of ‘Nate remembers zero details about his history with Sophie but does remember everything about Sophie’. Sophie’s like ‘It’s Vienna!! How can you forget Vienna?’ and Nate goes ‘I don’t know... but you were wearing the blue dress with the seashell pattern and your hair half-up and you looked radiant in the sunshine’ and Sophie’s gotta be like ‘okay, I- you’re off the hook this time.’
