“The Blake thing was - I did not write the song as a duet. I was actually writing this song about how I felt about Blake. I remember playing it for him and thinking like, I wonder If he’s going to catch all the details of my truth, because I was saying a lot. And he just was like, ‘I love the song.’ And he kept saying, ‘Don’t put that out like that. You should wait on that record.’ Because we always did fantasize about writing together and doing music together in the future. And then I was like, ‘If you want to be on this, I will rewrite the whole verse. I will do anything I can.’ And like twenty minutes later, he was singing on it.”

Blake: “The first time that I ever met Gwen was in 2014. She wasn’t like any other famous person that I had ever met before. She drove herself to work in a black minivan with car seats in it. She didn’t roll in with security. She came in with a baby and two little boys, which at the time worked like security because nobody was going near — it was chaos.”
