Thank you @diesvitae for this amazing piece of Scarlet Briar as she appears in my AU stories.
This piece is just absolutely fantastic, and I have to stop myself from gushing over it.

not only does Flourish AU'S Pact Admiral Trin now exist (again) but just in time for the perfect chair. she's fashionably late, it seems!

Heya folks, got a question!
Do you have OCs based off the other non-playable races? If so, would you like to share them here? I am curious and would like to get to know 'em! :D

Will never understand the die-hard Scarlet fans. I'm not a big fan of her or Trahearne either but I find the turnaround so funny! 🤭

Heya, I got a question for you 👀 In the light of the new episode, what does Kerra think of Scarlet? What has she heard, has Scarlet proven her wrong/right, etc that sort of thing
Ooh, okay okay!! Excellent question, and one I've been thinking about A Lot, so let's go! :D
Prior to LWS1, the most that Kerra's heard of Scarlet is off-hand. Kerra's friends with Cio, and Cio was working on getting through college during the same time period Scarlet (then Ceara) was in Rata Sum.
Cio and Ceara weren't ever super close, but they did run in the same circles, so to speak--they both were studying Synergetics at the same time, neither was particularly accepted there (Ceara for being sylvari, Cio for her whole Primordus magic thing), and they both really wanted to learn. So Cio definitely knew about Ceara, and they kinda had a dynamic of "we're both focused on our own things, but you're here and a little like me, and that's neat to know".
Kerra's heard some of that from Cio, but she doesn't immediately connect Scarlet Briar, the sylvari attacking the Queen's Jubilee, to Ceara, Cio's kinda-acquaintance-vaguely-friend from college that she mentioned once. Until Vorpp speaks up, that is. (Kerra does connect Scarlet pretty quick with the "B" and "Scar" mentioned in notes she's run into, though.)
(It should be noted that at this point, Kerra has zero clue what Vorpp did to the Secondborn. She still doesn't like the guy very much. He's very confident in his own knowledge to the point of arrogance--which, to be fair, isn't the weirdest thing in the world for an asura. But he's also very set on Scarlet clearly not being as smart as an asura, at the same time that she's doing things he doesn't fully understand. And that he's very willing to talk down sylvari to Kerra's face right before asking her to help him acquire parts for his portal machine. Not a stellar first impression. If there was a diplomatic way for Kerra to work with Cio instead of him on this project, she would have. And she does pull Cio in as a "consultant" later on.)
But anyways, to answer the main question you asked me, Kerra isn't certain what to think of Scarlet right now. And that's actually super frustrating for her!
Kerra's very good at getting a read on people, both thanks to her empathy powers and just because she's good at People (TM) in general. She can't figure out why Scarlet's doing what she's doing--not even in a "plan" sense, in a "this is my driving emotion" sense. There's been too much there to sort through. (In part, that's because she's only been in the presence of the *actual* Scarlet like...twice, maybe, at this point. She can't read the emotions of a Watchknight or a hologram.)
But even ignoring that, the pattern doesn't track for her. Scarlet's a danger, most certainly, but why? Why the bombs? Why take the hostages? What did she plan to bargain for, if anything? The Watchknights are clearly formidable tools, but what does she mean to do with them? Why try to get Mai Trin on the Captain's Council? And was there a point where she changed from being a student to whatever her goal is now, or was there no change at all?
Kerra's not a detective like Jory, but she's also not comfortable with pieces that don't fit. And she's definitely not comfortable with writing Scarlet off as "insane", like Faren does. Scarlet doesn't feel like she's lashing out on a whim, in Kerra's opinion.
And probably what's unsettled Kerra the most out of everything is that...Scarlet's not being blackmailed or forced into any of this, from the information they've found. Scarlet's the leader, Scarlet organized the Molten Alliance, Scarlet's helped direct the Aetherblades (along with Mai), Scarlet's been confident and has taunted them and has meant plenty of the things she's said. As far as Kerra's been able to tell, at least.
So why is Scarlet scared?

And one more done this morning, second finished piece of 2019!
Featuring Ceara Ilthien, my human elementalist in Guild Wars 2, my human wildwalker monk in World of Warcraft, and the main protagonist of The Keeper's Compendium, which I am currently working on changing to fit into an original world instead of WoW.
Also:

Ceara in 2013 and in 2019. Putting these two picture together was a huge little boost of inspiration and motivation for me. I used to think that 2013 was my peak and I wouldn't be able to get any better than that. I'm glad I was able to prove myself wrong.
Her hair is so shiny :D

On Taimi's Twisted Marionette event dialogue
First, a couple notes on Taimi, and what we've seen of her throughout the years of gw2.
We meet her as a young prodigy who's pretty much overlooked by the council at large, aside from her merit of having Zojja as her teacher. All of her merit comes from Zojja's name attached to hers as she pushes for her own stake in things, and she finds that opportunity in lws1, the attack that Scarlet Briar launches with her machines. And after going through lws1, seeing firsthand what and who Scarlet had become, she's fascinated with the woman! It's absolutely amazing to her, what Scarlet has accomplished and discovered, despite being a major antagonist. And throughout lws2 she expresses this admiration up to and through the moment we learn that Scarlet wasn't herself throughout all of that, but had held onto her brains to a terrifyingly, impressively effective degree still. This doesn't lessen Taimi's admiration of her, just brings a new understanding to this admiration. Which makes sense truly, Taimi can admire Scarlet while still knowing she had to be taken down.
In lws3, we meet Gorrik and his older brother Blish, two asura Taimi knew before we ever knew her. Notably, she was college friends with Blish and recognized his name immediately. The three become close friends once again despite extenuating circumstances, among which is the fact that Blish and Gorrik both joined the inquest to be able to further their studies. Taimi readily looks past this when the two own up to the mistake, and the three are the closest Krew I think we've arguably seen in game at all. They bounce wonderfully off of each other and even when they don't really Get each others' interests, they still support those interests. Such as Gorrik's love of entomology. And when Blish is killed off by the plot, Taimi and Gorrik become siblings in all but name with how inseparable the two are. You call one, you half the time can hear the other on the com too. They're constantly working together, and they're clearly a very respectful and supportive duo.
With that out of the way now, about this new dialogue.
Tumblr media
This felt so wrong. So immensely, rudely wrong, in every single statement. Taimi can be brusque and blunt, she can be rash in saying things. But never did I expect her to suddenly years down the line suddenly decide Scarlet is deranged and not worth the respect of her accomplishments from when she was Ceara, and her skills as Scarlet. And then she doesn't even miss a beat before dismissing Gorrik's field of study as a "...bug phase" as if she's not aware of how important it is to him, how valuable it has been throughout the plot!
Seeing Taimi, a disabled scientist who's spent most of her plot having to prove why her skills and thoughts are important and worth value, suddenly brushing off two neurodivergent-coded scientists in one fell swoop felt so horribly ooc. And as my friend @ascalonianpicnic pointed out, it also made it sound very much like anet berating the players for loving Scarlet as a character and Gorrik's bug interest in turn.
It just left a very bad taste in my mouth, and a pit in my stomach. I truly hope this was a one off and not an example of a huge retcon of the personality she has that's developed over years of content...

Mirror Images - pencil rough
What happens when the dragon corrupted part of your mind separates itself from you and wants to continue its mission, while still tormenting you?
I first thought of this images many moons ago when I was writing my first Scarlet Briar story. I had envisioned a set of "comic book cover" style art pieces to go with each of the chapters. (At the time, the story was only 6 chapters long). I started sketching out the first one, but never finished. Recently (meaning a few weeks ago), I made the decision (with some help from Tazzy), to work on this piece.
It's meant to be a comic cover of sorts, so it will be inked and probably flat colored with some shading, though Im not sure yet.

I really wanna type up a set of letters between Ceara and Aurenthir during their early years after choosing different paths to walk
From Ceara telling Aurenthir how much he’s missing out on the Colleges of Rata Sum to the eventual madness she descends into after Omadd’s machine
And then Aurenthir’s last letter to her before everything went down. For nearly an entire year he doesn’t hear from his podtwin, his last read letter left on the dusty desk of Ceara’s rented out room in Dry Top
A year of silence from her. Not a single response to his other letters, until the day the Pact Commander arrives to the heart of the jungle
Until he receives the news of his sister’s death in the venomous spiteful tone coating Kasmeer’s words as she accuses him of working with Scarlet Briar to awaken Mordremoth
Scarlet Briar, a name that he did not know, just to be told that Scarlet and Ceara were one the same. And they tell him that his beloved sister was a monster
He says back to them: “Scarlet Briar was a monster that you knew. I’ve only ever known Ceara.”

I have a new Leafy Girl! Ceara Liara is a Dusk cycle Elementalist who likes to adopt every stray animal and plant she meets along her way. She’s Soundless, and has decided that her dream for her life is to be something of a Kind-But-Eccentric Aunt figure to all of her friends.

Turns out I really have a weakness for cartoonishly cheesy over-the-top supervillains who got lost on their way to the comic book genre. So here, have a Scarlet Briar doodle because goddamn did this outrageously extra menace have a lot of missed potential.
