This @aria.pro.ii Wildcat cleaned up nicely! It’s back to it’s stock configuration and actually sounds quite nice! The birdpoo situation turned out to be some sort of cement from some leakage and it luckily cleaned up really well! Considering it’s age there’s also very little finish damage. I unfortunately did not have the right shape of tremolo block to replace this crusted one but it still functions properly. There are still some tuning issues where some strings tend to go sharp after using the tremolo or bending strings (also causing the floating tremolo to move). This is probably happening at the nut or stringtrees so I’ll address that situation soon! Thanks once again to @mspvanloon for the generous donation! It will find a nice home soon! This has been a fun project! This was all that was left of my client’s husband’s first guitar. Over the years it had been disassembled, stripped, etc. His daughter painted it, and recreated his rendition of Overkill’s The Years of Decay album cover art on the back. I found parts, and outfitted it with pickups more suited to the heavy music he plays, while still looking vintage. I bought another used electric bass guitar at a local secondhand store (recycle shop) here in Okinawa, Japan. I found it in the junk section, and bought it for 3,000 yen plus tax. The brand name is Aria Pro II and it says Vanguard Series. Also, the tuning keys say Made in Japan. There are some problems with the electronics, but I think I can fix them. I will also clean up the hardware, do a fret job, polish the finish, and put on some new strings. Then I will also adjust the neck relief (truss rod), string height (action), pickup height, and the intonation. I will make it playable again. I am looking forward to playing this bass guitar. Allright, I couldn’t resist doing a bit of work on this wildcat and there are some interesting finds. First off: What is that dripped stuff on the headstock? I now it has spent some time in an attic, but it almost looks like birdpoo (or maybe batpoo?), secondly it needs quite a bit of dusting off and cleaning but that’s to be expected and part of the fun. Thirdly: It not just a bolt-on construction! It’s an ACCURATE bolt on system!! Who would’ve thought! And finally the tremblock seems to be deteriorating! Broken headstock restoration for my friend Glen Burtnik of the band The Weeklings on his vintage late 60's Gibson acoustic guitar! This was a tough repair. I made a new headstock overlay made of the classic Gibson fiber material and inlaid the Gibson logo and design in the same exact location as the original inlay work. Before gluing the overlay on the face of the headstock I had to align/glue the broken headstock ear back onto the neck. The final step is the lacquer work to hide all the cracks and glue lines. Fortunately enough for me the guitar had crackling all over the place. This was a benefit in spraying the neck and headstock because the relic style crackling hides everything. In the majority of Gibson restorations the mother of pearl headstock inlays are tinted a vintage yellow and the nut back/side edges also should be tinted for a factory fresh look. I'll post the body tomorrow with special pics of another famous guitar next to it. Check out all the pic!

I recently bought a used Greco-brand Made in Japan (MIJ) single-cutaway LP-style electric guitar from a secondhand store near my home in Naha, Okinawa. Such stores are commonly called "recycle shop" here in Japan. The hardware on this guitar needs polishing, bit I might have to upgrade some of it.. There's a big ding on the side near the output jack that needs to be repaired. I love the humbucking pickups - they sound really good. The neck feels good; it's very playable.
