Forehand Groundstroke The forehand groundstroke is executed with the dominant hand used primarily to generate power from the back of the court such as returning a serve. The Eastern grip…

thinking about tashi and art from challengers. thinking about being another tennis player at stanford who actually shows promise. you go to the courts religiously every morning and every other afternoon to perfect your groundstrokes and your volleys. other students barely play against you anymore, and it’s tough to find a partner for any sort of match. that is, until you catch tashi’s eye. well, according to tashi— art claims he saw you first. she says it doesn’t matter anyway, because she’s the one who approached you when art didn’t have the balls to do so.
tashi starts playing you more often and—granted— you don’t stand a chance against her either way. but you love the challenge. it starts becoming a common reoccurrence, until it reaches the point when you don’t even consider asking anyone else to play you. you simply sit by one of the benches, toying with your racket until tashi arrives. you’re not sure when it became routine, waiting around for tashi, nor when art began watching your matches against her from the bleachers. his presence was easily discardable during the matches… at first. but then you slowly grew aware of the other set of eyes watching you during practice.
you thought he was tashi’s boyfriend. you thought he was her boyfriend— until your shared afternoon in the locker rooms with tashi. you could barely stand up when you left, cheeks flushed and tennis skirt crooked. little did you know, tashi told art every single dirty thing about you in detail. the way you moaned, the way you bucked, the way your back arched and you begged her for more.
needless to say, they both made it their mission to see you like that again.
- 🍒
threesomes; oral (f receiving); MDNI 18+. 1.1k+ w/ ART DAVIDSON & TASHI DUNCAN
art finds you in the dining hall a few days later.
you're by yourself, sitting under tashi's poster and flipping through a mass market book the size of art's hand. he doesn't hesitate to approach you, a friendly smile on his face as he asks you if the seat in front of you is taken.
you shake your head, dog-earing your book at the same time as you slouch in your seat and kick the chair out for art. easily, he sits, places his tray on the table, and slides the peach your way.
you don't have a tray in front of you. art doesn't know if you just finished eating, or if you were planning to eat at all, but he knows you like peaches. you take the peach, peel the sticker off, and take a bite.
you open your mouth as if you're going to speak, but art beats you to it.
"you and tashi are getting pretty close." he doesn't mean anything malicious by it. at least, he doesn't think he means anything malicious. he's still smirking, maybe less friendly and a little more teasing by now, and he's tapping the edge of the plastic tray with the blunt nail on his pointer finger.
you lift your eyebrows and chew slowly before you bother responding.
"yeah. we're friends."
art knows that's not necessarily true. he nods, dropping his head briefly.
when he speaks, it's to his salad. "right."
"what's that supposed to mean, art?"
art shrugs, sticking his bottom lip out a bit. he looks behind you at the picture of tashi in her element. he remembers that match. one of the early ones in the season where everyone had been excited to see tashi duncan play in her newly acquired red gear. art had arrived early that day and caught the tail end of your match on the court next to where tashi was going to play. he remembers the immediate infatuation he had with you. how graceful you looked on the court, yet you were able to put just enough power into your shots.
his eyes find yours again. you look like you're ready to accuse him of something, and likely be right. he's not being the most subtle person ever, but that wasn't his aim. he wanted what tashi has and this time he wants to do something about it.
"nothing. i just think you two are a little close for friends."
you sit and watch art. you take another bite of the peach and juice drips onto your lips and under your chin. you lick it clean without a second thought.
"right."
art leans forward, pushing his tray out to the side. "she told me about that day, you know."
you scoff and mirror art's position.
his eyes flicker to your lips when he says, "come on, you had to have known she would've told me. we're friends, remember? all of us."
"are we friends in the way that you and tashi are friends, or in the way that tashi and i are friends?"
you take another bite from your peach and once again, juice drips down. art doesn't hesitate in the way he reaches out, swipes his thumb under your lip to catch the liquid, and then sticks his thumb into his mouth to clean it up. he was likely smooth with it, but his heart pumps so hard that he can feel it in his throat. he swallows before he speaks.
"is there a difference?" he phrases it like a question, but you both know it isn't. you both know the answer.
it's a good thing that you, tashi, and art are such good friends who can do things like this together. sitting on art's bed, combatting your mutual boredom with something much more interesting. art sitting beside you, his back pressed against the wall and his legs spread to accommodate your body. he has a hand on your back, sometimes trailing down to your ass which has your feet folded beneath it. you face tashi who sits just on the outside of art's left leg, her position mirroring yours.
her hands cup your face at first, but once you tug her closer by her fitted jacket, she trails her hands down to lift the hem of your sweatshirt just enough to press her hands into your abdomen. she starts to lift the fabric completely, but it's then that art takes over. you feel his hand sliding up your back and your sweatshirt going with it until he gets to where your bra should be.
except, there's nothing there.
you can hear art's breath hitch as he slides his hand around to your front and swipes his thumb over your nipple. you make a startled noise, and tashi drinks it right up. she digs her fingers into the waistband of your shorts and pulls you closer, as close as you can get with art's leg between you both.
sensing the boundary created, art switches his position. he slides up behind you, giving you and tashi free reign to press your bodies together. meanwhile, he gathers your sweatshirt in both hands and lifts it, gently urging you to separate from tashi for long enough for him to throw the fabric off of your body and onto his floor completely.
tashi is quick to attach her hands to your tits and art is quick to pepper kisses along your shoulders and back.
the rhythm is so easy, completely void of any hesitation, except that which exists for consent.
it's a rhythm that only such good friends could have created and mastered.
here, like this, hidden under the pretense of the three of you being such good friends, do they finally get to see you how they wanted. tashi gets to see you again, and art gets to put her words to visuals. and tashi was so right. her words had seemed almost unnecessarily vivid at the time, even though art greatly appreciated it. but how could she not describe this sight vividly?
the way your chest reached towards the ceiling as tashi used her mouth on you, your pert nipples sitting prettily at the peaks of your breasts. the veins in your arms poking through your skin briefly as you placed your hand in tashi’s hair, which art is sure she left loose for this exact occasion. your sounds, god art doesn’t think he’ll ever forget them. the prettiest whines almost mewls slipping past your parted lips and greeting the air. only when art didn’t have his mouth attached to yours that is.
it’s like he couldn’t keep himself away. he had to touch you however he could. but he wasn’t good at this, he didn’t know where he should fit into he equation with tashi occupying the spot he usually aimed for. so he explored. he pressed his lips anywhere they could reach, and he found a favored spot along your tits. he couldn’t help but suck marks along them, even though he didn’t exactly know how you would feel about it.
but when he looks back on his work peeking out through your tank top hours later, he’s glad he left them there.

A rivalry is more than head to heads or titles won. Here's a thread of why the Federer-Nadal rivalry (2004-2022) is considered one of the greatests and most unique in sports history:
Tumblr media
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are mirror opponents. A once in a century jackpot with two style of play at the opposite ends of the sports' techniques. In terms of athlete's posture, they are eerily of the exact same height and weight, yet Federer is a right-handed player with a one-handed backhand and Nadal is a left-handed player with a two-handed backhand. Federer portrayed the elegant, fast-paced serve and volley style of the past decade whereas Nadal introduced innovative heavy groundstrokes, topspin, and defensive baseline plays. They encapsulated the progress of the sports' development and their matches popularised tennis to unprecedented heights.
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are the respective best at their dominant surfaces. They both stil hold world records for most Grand Slam titles on grass (Federer with 8 Wimbledons) and on clay (Nadal with 14 French Opens), respectively dubbed King of Grass and King of Clay. From 2006 to 2008, they played every single Wimbledon and French Open finals against each other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Roger Federer was the undisputed current world number one since 2004. He admitted he almost lost his passion for the game due to lack of competition until Nadal became the first to beat him in a grand slam final. They became the only pair in history to share the top two year end rankings for 6 years, from 2005 to 2010 and 2017. In their own words, they were each other's biggest motivations to achieve greatness.
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal were the first to dominate the sports consistently for over a decade, ending the era of one or two odd times Grand Slam winners. Together they won consecutive majors from 2005 to 2007, 2008 to 2009, and 2017 to 2018. Their dominance kickstarted what was dubbed the 'golden era of tennis'.
As tournament seedings are based on rankings, their 40 matches were tournament quarters, semis, and finals, with the all time record of 9 Grand Slam finals. They were each other's partners in the worst and best moments of their careers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They played what is considered by most tennis analysts as the greatest tennis match in history: The Wimbledon final of 2008 for 4 hours and 48 minutes.
Tumblr media
They were leaders of the game from the background, being president and vice president of the players' council for more than 10 years with both only agreeing to join if the other's participating.
They have played countless charity matches to support each other's foundations. In 2020 they broke the world record together, with their exhibition in Africa attracting the highest ever attendance in a tennis match.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Known for their sportmanships, Nadal has openly expressed that he cried of happiness when Federer won his first ever French Open (Nadal's best tournament), whilst Federer expressed his wish to have a draw match and shared his 2017 Australian Open with Nadal.
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are two of the most successful, consistent, and longstanding tennis players of all time, playing more than 25 years of professional tennis with a record of 42 Grand Slams between them. Many have not known the sport without them, they are representative of a generation.
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal remain close friends after almost 20 years of facing each other on court, having stated their friendship as the proudest milestone of their rivalry. As per his personal wish, Federer will retire playing doubles alongside Nadal in his last ever competitive tennis match.

not sure if someone has already asked this, but what would be each member of the team's top 2 and worst skills? like for example, i think tobin would be finesse and agility as their top skills, and maybe strength being their lowest
Ooh interesting ask! Let me do the main few for now. I'd say:
Rayyan
Top 2: Strength and Endurance.
Weakest: Relatively speaking? I'd say maybe tactics or S/V, because I'd place their agility, and finesse as 'surprisingly good' for a aggressive baseliner, and are both aspects of their game that have won them many matches against tough opponents in the past. They do have a good serve, just maybe less of a net game. And as for tactics, they can play smart, and read an opponent well, but they tend to stick with tried-and-true methods over improvisation, and sometimes tend to take the less risky path at the expense of seizing some good opportunities.
Tobin
Top 2: Finesse and tactics. They're obviously really fast too, though, but I'd say their ability to read the game and choose shots that make sense is unparalleled.
Weakest: Honestly this is tough because they're an all-court player and they've spent a lot of time building up a well-rounded game with as few 'glaring weaknesses' as possible. But if push comes to shove yeah, I'd say strength.
Deepal
Top 2: Endurance and agility.
Weakest: Definitely strength/power.
Jacks
Top 2: Finesse, and probably endurance, actually! But yeah, tactics is up there too.
Weakest: S/V. They're also a little on the smaller side, and not particularly strong (they're decent), and don't usually like feel as comfortable up at the net as much as all-court players should, and that's a weakness in their game that Emerson covers pretty well for doubles!
Emerson
Top 2: Strength, S/V.
Weakest: Endurance. Also just patience and consistency, on the mental side of things. Again, something that Jacks helps to mitigate.
Max
Top 2: Endurance, then probably tactics
Weakest: Strength, followed by S/V, tbh—they're pretty good at volleys in practice, but during a game they sometimes lack the aggressiveness and OOMPH(!) required to really hunt the ball down and hit a volley winner.
Bonus: Sam
Top 2: Finesse (they have the slickest shots), then S/V, probably? They have excellent reflexes and can hit a stunning volley winner out of anywhere, even if it's sometimes really unorthodox (e.g. behind their back or whatever). And they're also really good at pulling of antics that distract their opponent at the net, which also contributes to a really good net game.
Weakest: Strength, maybe, or endurance. They're not really into the whole "consistent back-and-forth groundstroke" business.

Phoenix Ch R1: Matteo Berrettini [WC] def. Hugo Gaston 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 Match Stats
Tumblr media
📸 ATP official website
It might have taken a while to get going for M. Berrettini, but the Italian wild card managed to get things under control as soon as he found his serve and groundstrokes combination back. Furthermore, M. Berrettini's backhand also worked perfectly in this match, especially in the last two sets while oftentimes balancing with the volleys when necessary, creating 13 break points thanks to his aggression despite H. Gaston having a 66% break point conversion rate while trying to apply his classic tricks.
On the other hand, M. Berrettini had an exceptional first serve winning percentage with 82%, 26% more than H. Gaston, aided by his 10 aces to get out of most troubles despite the first-set start to adjust himself for the play. Interestingly, even though H. Gaston double-faulted eight times, he still won 1% more second serve points than M. Berrettini with 51%, likely due to the latter's constant forehand rush earlier in the match.
In the second round, M. Berrettini will face the winner between eighth seed Arthur Cazaux or qualifier Adam Walton, which will be played today (local time). While this could be dubbed as the battle of the generations, this could be exciting to check how M. Berrettini's game fared to the current state of the Tour, especially knowing the potential of both players. Should be a fun one, with pressure points and their groundstrokes' consistency being predominantly tested!

Hello, it's me again, I come with another round of questions hehe 1. Is there any male classmate that Naegi can still call a friend? Considering that since Naegi is with almost all the girls (F for the boys) his relationship with most of his classmates must be somewhat strained. 2. Do Misha Nakajima (NaeKanon) and Venera Ludenberg (NaeCeles) meet their Ultimate equivalents from previous years (Ryoma and Yamato)? 3. What was the reaction of the girls to see that Komaru is Aldo in the harem?
Ryota, Nagito, Izuru, Mondo, Byakuya, Fuyuhiko, Chihiro, hell every male character. Including that.....annoying twerp kokichi. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)************** I don't see Makoto getting too much hate after awhile. At the start I do expect high tensions. ;;;;;;;;( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
2. Yes. Ryoma gives Misha some tips especially regarding her groundstroke and side spins. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) As for Venera, Yamato helps her come up with the actual blueprint for a castle which to Venera's frustration she couldn't find or have time to study from real life castles. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
3. Mixed. ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Some were not fine with it. Junko, Celeste, Hiyoko, etc. Some were neutral about it. Kokoro, Hiroko, Tsumugi. And others saw this as an opportunity to get in good with the family. Kotomi, Sayaka, Angie. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I found this IF and have fallen in love <3! Those matches get me itching to pick up my racket again! Quick question, what are the characters' favorite drills? I know mine has always been the bouncing ball one.
Rayyan likes being fed balls to the baseline (left or right) and just pounding them back. Gets them in a flow state (and helps them vent a bit of frustration/keeps them sane).
Tobin likes condition games (where you play a game with a teammate), the mix of pitting their skills against someone in a friendly, dynamic, mentally stimulating way is very appealing (not to mention its endless variety). Otherwise, complicated partner drills with fun coordination patterns are a close second.
Sam enjoys doing sliced drop drills, something about way it bounces back towards the net--it's one of their favorite shots to play anyway, cause they love the reaction it elicits, so it makes sense they'd want to perfect it. They also like new drills, anything they haven't seen before.
All other teammates below the cut.
Deepal likes anything that doesn't take too much energy (lazy) and allows them to chat a lot. Watching matches together or discussing doubles strategy is an example. Otherwise, they also secretly enjoy doing drills where you sprint up and down the court, cause they're good at it.
Jacks likes working on their weaknesses, so probably something like volley smashing maybe. They're a small person without bloodlust, so volley smashes are definitely not within their comfort zone.
Emerson LOVES serving, partially why they became a Serve and Volley player in the first place. As a kid, you could give them a basket of balls and chuck them in a court and they'd keep themselves entertained for hours.
Max likes lob drills, mostly because they really really depend on a good lob to get them out of trouble in the game. It's their crutch and their salvation and definitely their safe place.
Akimi likes set patterned drills (e.g. drop, crosscourt groundstroke, down the line shot) because the structure let's them focus on the technique of every shot/movement.
Lee likes hitting against a tennis wall, reminds them of their childhood and going down to the "wall" in their neighbourhood with their elder brothers.
Blake likes going to the gym/strength exercises and probably could've been a weightlifter if they didn't show so much initial promise with a racket in their youth.
Bonus: Coach Sy's fave drill is conditioned games, and Coach Jones's is a volley + run back to the baseline to get a retrieve/passing shot drill.
I think that's everyone? :)

After an overnight and day rain delay upon the conclusion of the first set...
The most anticipated second-round action on what was supposed to be the Quarterfinal Friday continued between wild card Matteo Berrettini and Arthur Cazaux, where they were due to start the second set. While A. Cazaux took control of the first set thanks to his deep returns, where M. Berrettini's third-shot unforced errors resulted into the sole break of serve in the set, its consistency was tested as soon as the Italian found his range back.
M. Berrettini might have a slightly nervy start to the reset, double-faulting in the first point while erring his backhand afterward. However, he started to get his groove going and held his serves to 1-0, which became a significant hold as he started to go after A. Cazaux's groundstrokes, where a key slice placement equalized the point in the fourth point before foiling the latter's game point. It then was converted (2-0) due to A. Cazaux's rare backhand slice approach where he failed to follow up to as soon as M. Berrettini volleyed the way before his error. Despite conceding one point in the next game, M. Berrettini held his serves to 3-0.
Subsequently, it took a while for A. Cazaux to gain some rhythm as he also was 0-30 down while trying to get things going, held his service game to 3-1 at the end. Slightly after M. Berrettini strengthening the lead with a hold to 4-1, a question of his redirection ability started arising as A. Cazaux's forehand error to M. Berrettini's preceding pass resulted in the deuce. Eventually, another slice paved the way for the 2021 Wimbledon Men's Singles runner-up to his post-smash final volley, which doubled him the break to 5-1. He then earned an opportunity to serve for the first set, where one his set points was saved through a successful backhand pass from A. Cazaux to the open court right before another rain delay struck. An hour later, M. Berrettini eventually served it out, baking the second set breadstick (6-1) with an unreturned second serve, bringing the match to the deciding set 24 hours since it began.

The serve is one of the most important shots in tennis. Spend time perfecting your serve technique, focusing on generating power and accuracy. Experiment with different grips and stances to find what works best for you.
4. Developing Consistent Groundstrokes
Groundstrokes, including forehand and backhand shots, are fundamental in tennis. Practice hitting with consistency and depth, aiming to keep the ball in play and maintain control over each shot.
5. Improving Net Play
Enhance your net game by practicing volleys, overhead smashes, and approach shots. Develop the confidence to move forward and finish points at the net, adding versatility to your playing style.
6. Mental Toughness
Tennis can be mentally challenging, requiring focus, concentration, and resilience. Work on developing mental toughness by staying positive, managing pressure, and maintaining composure during matches.

Tennis is a physically demanding sport that requires strength, endurance, and agility. Incorporate cardiovascular workouts, strength training, and agility drills into your training routine to improve overall fitness and performance on the court.
9. Recovery and Rest
Don't overlook the importance of rest and recovery in your training regimen. Allow your body time to recover between training sessions, prioritize sleep, and listen to your body's signals to prevent overuse injuries.
10. Consistent Practice and Patience

Advanced Training Techniques
1. Video Analysis
Utilize video analysis technology to assess your technique and identify areas for improvement. Recording your matches and practice sessions allows you to review your performance, analyze your strengths and weaknesses, and make necessary adjustments to enhance your game.
2. Cross-Training
Incorporate cross-training activities into your regimen to improve overall athleticism and prevent burnout. Activities such as swimming, cycling, and yoga can complement your tennis training, providing variety and helping to develop different muscle groups.
3. Sports Psychology
Explore the psychological aspects of tennis through sports psychology techniques. Mental visualization, positive self-talk, and goal-setting can help you build confidence, manage anxiety, and maintain focus during high-pressure situations on the court.
4. Tactical Drills
Engage in tactical drills that simulate match scenarios and challenge your decision-making skills. Practice specific patterns of play, such as aggressive baseline rallies, defensive retrieves, and offensive approaches to the net, to refine your strategic awareness and execution.
5. Serve and Return Practice
Dedicate focused practice sessions to improving your serve and return game, as these aspects of tennis can heavily influence match outcomes. Work on developing different types of serves (e.g., flat, slice, kick) and honing your return of serve to put pressure on your opponents from the start of each point.
6. Point Construction
Study point construction strategies and learn how to construct points effectively based on your strengths and your opponent's weaknesses. Develop the ability to vary the pace, spin, and direction of your shots to keep your opponent off balance and create opportunities to dictate play.

8. Recovery Strategies
Implement effective recovery strategies to optimize your physical and mental well-being between training sessions and matches. Techniques such as foam rolling, stretching, ice baths, and massage can aid in reducing muscle soreness, preventing injuries, and promoting overall recovery.
9. Nutrition and Hydration
Pay attention to your nutrition and hydration to fuel your body for optimal performance on the tennis court. Maintain a balanced diet rich in nutrient-dense foods, stay hydrated before, during, and after matches, and consider consulting with a sports nutritionist for personalized guidance.
