He grabbed Gwaine’s hand and intertwined their fingers. “Totally, completely, utterly insane. This won’t work.” He used his free hand to straighten his tie before they entered the reception at the fancy hotel bar, where he knew he’d find every single person he worked with.  “Of course it’ll work. Now laugh as if I’ve said something funny,” Gwaine said through his teeth, a fake smile plastered on his face. OR: Merlin's friends get sick of his never-ending pining over his coworker Arthur and come up with a brilliant plan: Merlin will pretend he's dating his best friend, Gwaine.
