I cannot wait until this anime season is done and I can do a comparison of Girlfriend Girlfriend versus 100 Girlfriends. It is unbelievable that this anime season has not 1 but 2 non-monogamy focused anime and the crazy thing is they are both way better than they have any right to be! Plus they are surprisingly so very different too!

Love Y’all: Lonely catgirl seeks decently written anime polycule
Content Warning: objectification of women, nudity
Spoiler warning: In Another World With My Smart Phone (Season 1 finale), Tenchi Muyo Ryo-Ohki (season 5), Girlfriend, Girlfriend (season 2), Maoyu (ep. 7), Chainsaw Man (Quanxi’s arc)
Many of Anime Feminist’s articles are couched on the idea that a piece of media has somehow spoken to a writer in such a way that they felt an intimate relationship between it and their own identity. After all, part of the early appeal of anime and manga for foreign markets was the way it broached tropes and values missing from domestic mainstream storytelling.
Yet, it’s hard out here when you’re looking for something that fits exactly what you idealize for yourself or even have as a lived experience. Manga and anime, although relatable in many ways, are not “literally me fr fr.” To find something that so-perfectly encompasses every fiber of my being, but in anime, it would require me to essentially become the next Kizuna AI or something, but just not get into NFTs.
Still, it’s worth seeking what speaks to me in the media I consume and I usually must allow good to be a suitable substitution for perfection, and settle for aspects of what I wish to see reflected in media, rather than the whole package.
All of this to say, while I find aspects of myself in the media I consume, I often end up asking: “why couldn’t this be better?” And what I mean by that is: while I’m pleased to report that there is an unprecedented rise in representation for non-traditional, queer and polyamorous romance in Japanese anime and manga, I must regretfully report that we still have a ways to go before I get something that I truly want as a trans polyamorous pan and demisexual catgirl on the Internet.
Read it at Anime Feminist!

The Fall 2023 Anime list a filled without quite a lot of crowd pleasers, but it's also filled with a LOT of diamonds in the rough. There are SOOOO much anime to watch this season that everyday there will be something to look forward to.
There are a few anime that are showing season 2: Goblin Slayer, Spy x Family, Hypnosis Mic: Division Rap Battle, & Girlfriend Girlfriend.
But there are also a good chunk of challengers that are definitely must watch:
Boushoku no Berserk
MF Ghost
The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You
Migi to Dali
Protocol Rain
The genres fall within action, sport, romance, comedy, and mystery. The title with the really long name is my personally favorite because it's actually really funny. The Japanese voice acting is REALLY great! I'm sure the dubs for it will live up as well. Migi to Dali is a creepy with subtle comedy aura. MF Ghost falls in the Initial D universe. Boushoku no Berserk is a interesting fantasy anime with a twist. Protocol Rain is by far a contender here, it's using an interesting form of animation.
The other anime that aren't mentioned all also have some really good story telling. So be sure to check them out when you can.
Once I get half way through watching these anime, i'll be posting my top 10 in order from most favorite to least.

Girlfriend, Girlfriend Season 2 - Episode 3 Reaction
I have been saying that I need to do an entire review of this anime through a polyamorous lens. I really need to do that. But without overhyping it or spoiling it I just had to say that this episode had one of the most pure polyamory moments I have seen in any story ever. This series is mostly a comedy and it is indeed very funny. But wow when they actually want to get serious it really pulls at my heart strings. Like I am nearly in tears just thinking about the scene. Until the I do my full review of it, I highly recommend the series.
