Currently, at the Ghazipur landfill we have all kind of waste – be it sanitary waste, covid masks, battery or e-waste. The landfill is basically a dumpsite, which gets each and everything that the city uses. Not just environment, it is very harmful for the people living nearby. Daily inhalation of all the toxic fumes coming out of the landfill is very dangerous. You can imagine, when you pass by the landfill or the garbage dump you close your mouth because the smell is just unbearable. Imagine, the life of people who work in the landfill. They have constant headaches, nausea, vomits, bronchitis, spinal problem, all this is part of their daily life. People are living all around the landfills, this in itself is a big no no.

#Blog अफीम अस्सी के दशक में रेलवे के वीपीयू में कच्चे अफीम का लदान हुआ करता था। रतलाम में अफीम का बड़ी लाइन में यानांतरण हुआ करता था। यहां से वीपीयू स्पेशल गाड़ी गाजीपुर सिटी के लिये जाया करती थी।

मैं 1985 के उत्तरार्ध में जब अपनी पहली पोस्टिंग पर रतलाम रेल मण्डल में आया तो नीमच से गाजीपुर सिटी के लिये अफीम का लदान हुआ करता था। उस समय मेरी भूगोल के बारे में जानकारी सीमित थी। मुझे यह भी नहीं मालुम था कि नीमच से गाजीपुर में अफीम किस लिये जाती है। सोचता था कि शायद उस इलाके में लोग अफीम का सेवन ज्यादा करते हैं। नीमच में अफीम कहां से आती है, वह भी सही सही नहीं मालुम था। उस समय की सोचूं तो पाता…
