actually. thinks about the fact that khaenr'iah's historical erasure contributed to its dehumanization
it's a classic propaganda tactic; as/after you wipe them all out, rewrite their history so they only exist as the losers or the monsters
when people think of khaenri'ah, they think of a nation of corrupted divine knowledge and machines ready to kill. they think of the leftover monsters, ready to purge everyone in their path for revenge
what they don't get to hear about is the humans that lived there. what there may have been; the tailors and the servants and the knights. the jousts and the tourneys and the festivals. the people making silly poses in front of field tillers, or laughing over a roaring fire. the graffiti of the people there, the captain knocking his knights over the head because being knights doesn't mean they're exempt from rules against vandalism. the love for stars and (royal) dances and kicking balls at each other in rainy alleyways, the very human lives that existed among all of that
they (celestia) have successfully reduced Khaenri'ah into just a tragedy; a story forgotten and no longer worth telling for fear of retribution. by erasing the history, they erased the sympathy, and the chance of people knowing it could happen to them.
they successfully made Khaenri'ah into the monster (and the fact that Khaenri'ah's mistakes hurt the other nations doesn't help showcase their humanity).

Back in Khaenri’ah, there was the idea of “true” names. Full names, names subtracted from titles, names in the old language, whatever you may wish to call it.
Sharing such things were symbols of trust and intimacy- a true name is the essence of a person: their life, their ideals. You may control them with such a name.
Such things used to be sacred.
As for me… well, there is no use for upholding the ideals of a culture long destroyed. I supply my name with reckless abandon; there’s no reason for me to care. They have already taken everything worth taking from me.
“My name is Dainsleif. I suppose you have some business with me?”
Dainsleif.
Dainsleif.
Dainsleif-
“Dáinsleif!”
“Hm?” The man shakes his head, blinking in the strong daylight of Sumeru. He grunts, raising a gloved hand to shield his eyes from the light as he looks down at the person at his side.
The Traveler is standing there, arms crossed as they squint up at him. Paimon had wandered off to clean up the campfire the group had used, blowing away soot with her little cheeks puffed out.
“My apologies, Traveler.” Dain apologizes, wiping the dirt off of his gloves as he sets the shovel they had been using to the side. “Is there something you require of me?”
“A̶͢͜e҉̵͟t́͜h̶͝͡e̶͟͏ŗ̛̕.͠͝҉͏”  “́͞L̀͢u͡͝͝m̷̶͘͠i̸̵͞n̛̛̕͢͠e̶̢̧͢͜.͡͏̷
“...What?” The knight blinks, not quite believing what he had heard.
“My true name.” The Traveler repeats, their gaze stubborn yet filled with a kind of tender determination Dain had not seen from them in such intensity. “You already know it.”
“...Yes, I do.” Dain admits, not quite meeting the Traveler’s golden eyes. “Your sibling used it occasionally when they talked about you.” He tries to ignore the ache in his chest at that thought- that they had trusted him so dearly to give him a name of such importance to them and the person they loved so dearly. He sighs, shaking himself out of his memories. “But I have never called you that out of respect for your identity as the Traveler and our… unique relationship.” Dain sighs, unfolding his arms. “Why do you bring it up now?”
“You can call me that.” The Traveler gives him a small smile, golden eyes reflecting the sun above. “My name.”
And they don’t need to say it, but they do anyway-
“I trust you.” A pause. “...Mostly.”
Something both grows and cracks in Dainsleif’s heart at that moment.
He had long abandoned such practices of his culture for a simplistic, convenient life, and in some ways, so had the Traveler, by using an alias or simply going by “the Traveler”. To give the true name of a star like them could be more than dangerous in the wrong hands, and to Dain’s knowledge, Paimon was the only one who used the Traveler’s true name, and that was when they were alone. Yet here they were, trusting him with this of their own free will.
A small smile- one of the few genuine ones to be found on Dain’s face- slowly creeps up his lips, brushing ever so slightly against the edges of his mask.
He nods, his voice soft.
“...Of course, “A̶͢͜e҉̵͟t́͜h̶͝͡e̶͟͏ŗ̛̕.͠͝҉͏”  “́͞L̀͢u͡͝͝m̷̶͘͠i̸̵͞n̛̛̕͢͠e̢͢͜.”
Their silent moment of companionship is broken by Paimon whining about getting soot all over her clothes. The Traveler laughs, going over to dust her off with their scarf bouncing along every footstep they took.
Dáinsleif just sighs, shaking his head, but he still wears a small smile.
Perhaps some things were still worth savoring.

-pov khaenri'ah destroyed-
Celestia: So. Who destroyed it? I'm not mad, I just wanna know.
Morax: ...I did. I destroyed it.
Celestia: No. No you didn't. Barbatos?
Barbatos: Don't look at me. Look at Tsaritsa.
Tsaritsa: What?! I didn't destroy it.
Barbatos: Huh, that's weird. How'd you even know it was destroyed?
Tsaritsa: Because it's right in front of us and it's in ruins.
Barbatos: Suspicious.
Tsaritsa: No it's not!
Pyro archon: If it matters, probably not, but Baal was the last one to go there.
Baal: Liar! I don't even like that place!
Pyro archon: Oh really? Then what were you doing by the ruins earlier?
Baal: My sister died there. Everyone knows that, Pyro!
Morax: Okay let's not fight. I destroyed it. Let me pay for it, Celestia.
Celestia: No! Who destroyed it!?
Hydro archon: Celestia...Rukkhadevata's been awfully quiet.
Kusanali: REALLY?!
_____
Celestia: I destroyed it. I burned my hand so I punched it. I predict 10 minutes from now they'll be at each other's throats with warpaint on their faces and a pig head on a stick.
Celestia: good. It was getting a little chummy around here.

Introducing Yelena Alberich cuz she is such a queen🫶🏼🦋🩵
The Queen of Kheanri’a🦋🌀
~~~~
If you dare cross paths with her majesty you will notice two peculiar things. One is the lack of light in her eyes and two her compassion towards those who are wronged. She is feared and revered among those who posses power, her reputation proceeds her. While her succession of the crown was not planned the daughter of princess Kiana Alberich and the high general of the royal guard Milos proved to be witty in her reign. Rebuilding one nation is already an unimaginable task, but the queen was able to rebuild two nations instead of one. Rumors are that her majesty’s speed and violence is bound to no limits, are you foolish enough to look her in the eyes?
"After perusing the Starlog by the great sage of Tabari, I finally realized whether it be the war of gods or downfall of ancient empires, it was all a microcosm of the celestial movements."
This is a quote from the message board in Sumeru City; from one of the students.
What a curious observation from someone without a name, and I thought about it for a minute because its phrasing sounded really familiar before rereading the Byakuyakoku Collection.
"Phanes, the Primordial One, used the eggshell to separate the "universe" and the "microcosm of the world."
This passage had spoke about how the "true lord of this world", The Primordial One, was born from an egg and used that egg to form Teyvat.
For a student to recognize and make this observation is particularly curious bc it implies that there is a certain knowledge in Sumeru about how Celestia works. And I say that because of their curiosity about Khaenri'ah. The Ruin Golem in the Valley of Dahri.
Afratu, the researcher here says that the academic world, specifically the Vahimana Darshan, used the word Dahri to refer to Khaenri'ah because it's the archaic name. This same word is also mentioned on the wiki for this area as an, and I quote, "Arabic-Persian theological term which refers to an atheist, or an adherent of the doctrine that the universe has no beginnings in time." If someone has better insight for this translation, please take the wheel bc I know the translation teams are often wrong.
Regardless, this is very particular because this tells us two big things. The first is that Sumeru Akademiya is well acquainted enough with the way Celestia views and interacts with the world of Teyvat that even the students are aware of their place under the gods. It is simply a piece of their world, a cell in their body.
The second is that Khaenri'ah was not the name the nation called itself. So where did that name come from ? Who was the first to name it Khaenri'ah and why? If Dainsleif is someone who was there during its reign, when did he start calling his home by the more modern name?
Another Diluc and Kaeya Make Up AU...
Kaeya is ambushed by a group from Khaenri'ah claiming that the time had come for him to complete his mission. Of course, Kaeya had made up his mind a long time ago that he could never go through with the plan and says as much to the group. A battle ensues until a mystery person reveals themselves, claiming to be Kaeya's sister/brother.
Kaeya remembers them.
He doesn't like them.
The two fight until Diluc shows up and saves Kaeya. Together, they push back until Kaeya's bio-sibling is forced to flee. When Diluc demands to know what's going on, Kaeya tells him that the time has come and that he needs to leave Mondstadt. Diluc protests, surprising Kaeya but the captain is set on leaving to protect Mondstadt. Diluc tells him that if he's leaving, he's not leaving on his own. Now Kaeya tries to protest but Diluc is equally as stubborn.
They leave by the next morning and set out across Teyvat with just the single goal of staying one step ahead of Khaenri'ah. Unfortunately for them, Kaeya's bio-sibling wasn't going to take their loss laying down and has convinced themselves that Kaeya had somehow been brainwashed.
Diluc and Kaeya proceed to bond and regain their brotherhood while being followed by Kaeya's insane bio-sibling who is tracking them down, determined to get him back.
Imagine back then people actually fighting for theirs live to love in Khaenri’ah because it was one of the most technologically advanced nation at that time
Imagine back then people actually went to study there
Imagine people paying a large sum of money to take a vacation there
I think Rhinedottir still remembers her home back then.
Now all they talked about are monsters and dark secrets. No one remembered that in the middle of the town square in the city of Khaenri’ah, people were laughing and living their honest lives
