acoustic in lap, the brunette’s slim fingers plucked a soft melody that she hummed along with. eyes closed and lost in the rare, peaceful moment, her fingers momentarily froze on the strings, her humming silencing at the sound of footsteps. ❝ i’m on break. if you need something, ring the bell on the counter, someone else will help you. ❞ she stated bluntly, her eyes fluttering open yet never meeting the figure. ellie was sure she’d have to hear about another customer complaint about her attitude but that hardly fazed her. she wasn’t attached to this job. working with people like this would’ve been suited better for someone like dina than her, someone that actually liked people, she simply enjoyed being around the numerous instruments that reminded her of better days. days when she hadn’t been stuck in a nightmare she couldn’t wake up from.

dealing with her students’ parents wasn’t anything new to the blonde, prior to her employment at bly, she had worked at a grade school back home in iowa. however, that had been in the 1980s, not the 2080s, which was a whole other thing dani was still attempting to wrap her head around. entitled parents back then were a lot to deal with but now ?? this was just insanity. ❝ is this really how people think these days ?? ❞ she mused out loud, chuckling in disbelief as she reread the email. ❝ this woman is seriously complaining and expecting me to do something about her son playing games at night rather than going to bed. he’s ten. ❞
