[I can't very well not do the final post! Sure, 50 would've been a nice number, but it's not like I planned it... Anyway, this is it!] 🌲 Blu Christmas Holiday Movie Asplosion 2022! ⛄ Chapter 51: It's a Wonderful Life 🦌 And here we are again, at the end of the marathon, with the best holiday film of all time (in my opinion). Surprising no one yet again, the top place goes to Frank Capra's "It's a Wonderful Life". Initially not very successful in theaters or reviews (though appreciated by the critics who did recognize, and nominated for multiple Oscars), it was only decades later it became recognized widely as the classic it is, even as one of the best of all time, according to many. I already knew the amazing restoration and 4K looked great, but wow can I really appreciate it on the setup I have now. Aside from some of the hokey angels/heaven effects (and writing) at the beginning, it is truly one of the masterpieces of filmmaking. So that's that! Happy Holidays! Merry Christmas! Happy New Year! Well, at this point I don't think anyone is surprised with what my number one holiday/Christmas movie is. Like all of these movies, many will disagree, and it's certainly not perfect, but it remains my number one, and is also somewhere up there among my favorite films overall (though a ways from number one). ❄️ 🎄I'll Have a Blu Christmas Holiday Movie 'Asplosion 2021!🎄 💿 Chapter 62: It's a Wonderful Life 🎞️ This is a great film. Yes, it also has its flaws, yes it gets cheesy, the talking star angels or whatever at the beginning don't work very well, and various similar nitpicks, but on a whole, it is a well shot, well acted, well directed, effective dramatic and comedic movie. The 4K restoration also looks fantastic. I continue to have no particular spiritual or religious ties to Christmas and what I love about it, but the sap and the emotions that this film was deftly crafted to evoke work just right for me. Surprising nobody at all, the number one movie in my marathon, like every year, the greatest holiday film of all time, and one of my favorite movies, Frank Capra's "It's a Wonderful Life".
