miyeon’s eyes dart from person to person, staring to feel overwhelmed. there’s too many people that are too close to her. nobody in her immediate surroundings knew her well enough to know exactly when miyeon was reaching her limit. where is she? where is sia? the desperation of the voice inside her head bleeds into her facial expression as she searched for the other. she was the only person there who knew miyeon like the back of her hand and didn’t require much of an explanation.  once she was spotted, miyeon walked over and placed herself close enough for her own comfort. “sorry if i’m too close. i can’t handle it anymore.”

in moments like these, she wishes she was back home and far away from her life as an idol. while pursuing , sometimes it was too much. “i didn’t want today to go like this. i planned to approach you saying something like, ‘i hope you haven’t corrupted sooah’, but today’s not a good day for me.” an understatement that often left miyeon’s mouth these days, as the bad days are getting worse and have been outnumbering the good days. she sighed, not wanting to address it further. “when are you free? since i’m feeling homesick, i want to visit our brothers. it’s been too long.”

        while duri did enjoy the art gallery that jaeyeol and himself attended that morning (completely disregarding the part of the goat sculpture, something that he wanted to forgot), he was incredibly excited to go to the tedin water park. sure, maybe a man of his age shouldn’t be that excited about going to a water park; but, it’s very evident that the kid inside of duri was very, very much alive and living. which would explain why he was looking so forward to splashing around in water and doing some of the activities that the water park has. he had gotten changed, all ready to have some splish splash fun.

he comes out into the park, eyes looking around what had awaited the two of them. he giggled softly, mainly out of excitement. “jaeyeolie... what should we do first? ah, there’s so much to choose from!” he said, a giggle leaving his lips once more.

a few days pre-chuseok feels like a toy strung high above his head. a game of cat and mouse, taunted by a few days of freedom looming after this all ends. maybe it’s the search for freedom, or the plans he has stowed away in the back of his mind making today’s filming a bit more unbearable like an itch against his skin. it’s what forces his arms across his chest, a barely noticeable pout stripped across his face the second the staff enters another break. 

he catches a familiar figure — someone akin to that of a happier light, stretching the pout into a dad-like smile. “sooah, hello!” taejin’s tone’s too upbeat, a disparity that contracts the tone that bleeds formality — a trait that he’s used for the entirety of the day. “i haven’t seen you since the retreat, and i assume you’re doing well?” and he doesn’t know what it is — perhaps, it’s the near ten year difference that separates the two that leaves him to shed the seriousness he’s masked in and follow suit with something warmer. something more familial. 

“how’s the filming going on your end? enjoy all the places and what not?”

IN-’VERSE INFO

Before filming begins this month, the cast members are informed that the show has teamed up with the Korea Tourism Organization to sponsor the next two episodes of the show and each pair will be going to a city in one of the nine provinces of South Korea to spend a day on a “family trip” with an itinery completely created by the pair themselves. They are given at least a few days to research their assigned city if needed to find places they might want to visit before they are expected to make their itinerary. Assigned cities(/counties) and the dates the pairs will be visiting are as follows:

Each pair is assigned one tourist spot in or near their assigned city/county that they must visit during their day trip to fulfill the sponsorship with the Korea Tourism Organization, but the rest of the day’s activities will be completely decided and agreed on by the pair themselves during a day of filming taking place before their trip (admin note: the exact date can be decided based on muse schedules) where they will meet in a room at the company building of the younger of the pair. They will be given an hour or two to film themselves planning out and agreeing on an itinerary together. They’re free to do as they please with the obvious limitations of all activities needing to be family friendly, image appropriate, within a reasonable budget, and reasonably able to be filmed. If they’d like to take a food tour of the city, they may do so. If they want to spend all day in the city’s animal shelters except for when they must visit their required location, they’re also welcome to do that. (admin note: A list of possible hot tourist spots in each city/county is linked above to help start out research into specific locations, but muses are also welcome to visit general locations that can be found in most every city like restaurants, shopping, movie theaters, etc. if that’s what they jointly prefer!) On September 29, all nine pairs will come together for a joint day of filming at a large apartment rented out by management where they will have an early pre-Chuseok gathering. Anyone who has other group mates on the show is encouraged to introduce their group mates to their sibling, and, in general, everyone is encouraged to socialize and come together for what will be used as a heartwarming ending scene to the fourth episode. At the end of the dinner, the sibling pairs will exchange gifts with each other.

Being an official cast member of Secret Siblings was something that Guanting knew that he would enjoy, but he didn’t realize just how much he would enjoy it. Fortunately for him, and more than likely for Hyuk as well, the two of them got along really well. Their personalities meshed well, and they complimented each other. Although that wasn’t really all that surprising for Ting. He was known as the “hyung collector” for a reason. It seemed like no matter where he was, what he was doing or who he was with, he always seemed to charm the older men around him. That was how most of his friendships formed. He wasn’t sure why, but he wasn’t going to question it. He enjoyed the love and affection he got from his hyungs. “Are you excited?” He asked when he arrived at the village with Hyuk a little late in the morning. They would still have the rest of the day to explore and visit all the hotspots in the village, so he wasn’t too worried about that. “I’ve always wanted to come here, but I never got the chance to! I’m glad I get to come here with you, hyung.” He gave the older male a big smile, his eyes crinkling at the corners, before he started taking in his surroundings. “Where should we go first?” He already had a few options in mind, but he figured he would give the other male a chance at choosing what they do first.

“changwon!” minhee yells, as she hops out of the car, making her presence in the city known. not to the people, but to the city itself. she looks around, peering up at the buildings around her. she loves cities, and she hasn’t been to changwon since she was a child, so she might as well never have been. she’s excited to experience it properly for the first time alongside suwei. dramatic as ever, minhee flips her planner open. it’s brand new, freshly bought less than a week ago just for this day trip’s itinerary. minhee is painfully type b, but she wanted to make a good impression on the viewers and suwei by being at least somewhat responsible as an older sibling. 

“are you still okay with going to chandong art village first?” she asks. it���s top of the list. since it’s their required activity, minhee figured they should do it first so they wouldn’t have to rush through it later in the day. she bets there’s going to be plenty of prime instagram photoshoot locations, and minhee doesn’t want to miss out on any of them. she offers her arm to suwei. “are you excited? do you know any artists? i’m not knowledgeable about art, but i envy artists’ talents.”

suwei was still new to south korea. she had only been in seoul for 4 months before lucid’s debut. as an idol she had little time to explore. she was busy with promotions and tours for lucid. but now she was given the chance to explore with minhee. someone she was happy to be paired up with. they had more in common then she believed. the producers of secret sibling had paired up with korea tourism organization to send the siblings out on a day trip. she was so excited to explore the country she now called home. 

What kinds of places do you want to visit in the city/county you’ve been assigned?

“i prefer to stay indoors, so i’m going to say museums.” what she couldn’t say is why she prefer the indoors. she loved nature, but any park with long trails wasn't likely to happen for her. “although i’m not opposed to any parks.i  would also love to see any famous landmarks. or gardens. i love flowers.”

Are you the type of person who prefers day trips around a city, or is a night in like last filming more comfortable for you?

“i prefer day trips. i like to stay indoors at night.” nightlife was really her seen. the only time you’d see her at a club is if she was dragged their by a friend. and even then she tended to stay away.

If you could go anywhere in the world outside of Korea with your sibling, where would you want to go?

“anywhere in europe. especially a country with abundant fields of flowers. somewhere like the netherlands.” her favorite part about nature is the flowers. to be surrounded by flowers would be a dream for her.

What kinds of places do you want to visit in the city/county you’ve been assigned?

“I’ve been told before about the Darian Tour? It’s place among the nature and there’s a walking trail so you can enjoy the landscape and detach a little from the crazy life in the city. I was born and raised in Seoul, and I rarely had chances to properly visit places like this since I started working young. It’s a shame it’s not Fall yet. I bet it would be really beautiful there.”

Are you the type of person who prefers day trips around a city, or is a night in like last filming more comfortable for you?

“I’m not much of a homebody, to be honest. I like going out to sightsee. That’s something I used to do a lot when I was younger. So, I say that I prefer day trips instead of staying inside all the time, though it can be good from time to time to just relax at home. That’s a very appealing idea too.”

If you could go anywhere in the world outside of Korea with your sibling, where would you want to go?

“Woah, that’s a very difficult one to be honest? Where would I go with Sia unnie? I’ve always wanted to visit more tourist places in Thailand actually. I’ve been there a couple of times before but it’s always related to work and we have schedules so it’s not very easy to go out of the hotel. I would love to go there sometime and visit the public markets and enjoy the food. Do all those touristic things one would usually do in a trip. I’m not sure if Sia unnie would appreciate that, but we could always find places to sit and chill for a moment.”

Did you learn anything new about your sibling today? If so, what did you learn? If not, what would you like to learn about them?

“I’ve learned that Sia unnie is capable of finding surfaces to sit down and rest with a stunning easiness. I don’t think I had the chance to properly learn anything else from her, but Sia unnie looks like the kind of person who leaves you intrigued. As I said before, I’m a long-time fan of her work so being around her is already an experience in itself, but I would still love to know what are some of the activities that she likes doing when she’s outside. Maybe we could do something she actually wants to do in the future.”

What was the most memorable part of the day you spent with your sibling?

“Oh my. One of the touristic spots we visited was Mancheonha Skywalk and Zipline. It’s very tall and also very beautiful. We had the chance to go to one of the platforms so we could see everything from up there. It was an incredible sight.”

Is there anything you didn’t get to do that you might want to come back and do with your sibling off-camera some time? Was there anything you did do that you’d want to come back and visit/do again some other time?

“We didn’t have time, but I would have loved to visit the Guinsa Temple. It’s a tradition I have with my parents of visiting temples when we have the chance, unfortunately it didn’t happen this time, but I surely plan on coming back someday so I can explore more. And also, of course, I would love to bring people to the zipline with me if the chance ever presents itself.”

“Well, I don’t if Sia unnie likes taking baths but since she showed herself as someone who apparently enjoys relaxing and resting, I thought of buying her a bath bomb kit? It’s not very original but it’s something I would think of giving my own brothers and I think she might appreciate that.”

seoul’s traffic is a bitch, but it serves as her scapegoat when minjung entrances the apartment a few minutes behind all the rest of the cast. fortunately, it comes with sympathy the way her manager relays desperation and frustration through the phone — it leaves a small break by the time she steps foot onto the set. her eyes scan the area, peeling through the staff in search of someone she knows — sooah, alice, anyone. but it leaves nobody, but her sole body lingering along and unoccupied corner till she sees someone familiar, sticking out against the rest a few centimeters away. “san. nice to see that we cross paths once more — you look different. taller even? have you grown? drank a lot of milk recently?” minjung flicks him a few queries inside a dazed headspace that houses some other thought she’s in. but it doesn’t hurt to give conversation in light of curing a few minutes before she steps into the guise of a proper idol. “having any fun waiting around?”

What kinds of places do you want to visit in the city/county you’ve been assigned?

“gyeongju?” his eyebrows raise a bit, fingers tapping against the chair he’s sitting in. and he thinks to the last time he’s stepped away from city life. “i guess i would like to see the more traditional stuff. inside seoul, you only really get gwanghwamun or insadong. the traditional stuff of jongno. but we rarely get to get a taste of the country side traditional life, and i thiink that’s the charm of what gyeongju has to offer. i’m always enjoying a change of pace from seoul — seoul gets tiring after a while, right?”

Are you the type of person who prefers day trips around a city, or is a night in like last filming more comfortable for you?

”i like the freedom of having time. when things are rushed, you often don’t focus on the details. i’m a detail oriented person, a perfectionist in everything i do. i like scheduling out piece by piece of my day, and really taking the time to bask in what the time slot has to offer.” taejin tilts his head, and eyes the staff in the room — letting his answer sink in lieu of a crafted smile. “so when you have two days and one night, you’re left with a lot more freedom and time. no rushing, because when you’re busy, you rarely get the time to have the luxury to come to places outside of seoul.”

If you could go anywhere in the world outside of Korea with your sibling, where would you want to go?

“i think i’d pick hong kong? maybe even macau — i was watching a piece of tv the other day, and they were showing off the food cities of the world. i wouldn’t want to go anywhere far, considering both heesung and i have extremely busy schedules. we’re aged, and i’m not sure our bodies could handle flights that take more than ten hours.” the words get caught inside the flit of chuckles that taejin adds for good mark, extending his chin to mask it all in a grin. “so, somewhere not so far with a lot of exciting things to see. the city life might be fun, fast paced for us to explore for a few days.”

Did you learn anything new about your sibling today? If so, what did you learn? If not, what would you like to learn about them?

“i’ve learned that heesung’s more than what he portrays on the screen. on the screen, he’s knight’s leader — the tall one that stands strong for his members, and always goes with the best attitude in mind. it’s the positivity that i’ve learned doesn’t waver in front of the cameras. in my opinion, it’s an admirable trait to have — one that very few possess now a days. i’d like to learn more about what heesung feels when he’s not subjected to a camera or a leader position. the human that’s not heesung the idol.”

What was the most memorable part of the day you spent with your sibling?

“i think the most memorable part might have been the amusement park? i don’t know how many thirty one year olds you’ve seen that has had the time of their lives at an amusement park, lest one that’s not in seoul. but it was the first time i’ve been to this amusement park, and the first one in a while — i’d say near years since i’ve let go and enjoyed myself like a child again. i think the most memorable part is that we were able to be kids again, and not have these expectations placed on us for once.”

Is there anything you didn’t get to do that you might want to come back and do with your sibling off-camera some time? Was there anything you did do that you’d want to come back and visit/do again some other time?

“gyeongju has a lot to offer — a lot of charming points about it. i see why some people choose to move here in their later years, and i feel as if we haven’t truly explored all of it. just the tourist destinations that a lot of people see — i think it’d be interesting to come back and enjoy a few days like a local. eat the hidden restaurants of local ajusshis and ajummas. — walk around, ride bikes. really step away from the city life that both me and heesung have been living in for quite some time now.”

“perhaps a wallet? but i’m sure he has a nice one already. i don’t think i’d purchase something expensive because it’s not something he can’t buy himself. although, a nice bottle of expensive wine might be nice, especially one with his birth year? if not — a nice instrument? a grand piano i hear make good presents this time of the year.”

what he knows of gyeongju is little to nothing — a visit once or twice as a young child, but never on his own will. it becomes a right of passage, he supposes, getting a mixture of modernization and traditionalism all in one. it’s a contrast. a stark difference that separates him from the comfort of seoul, and it leaves him displaced. lost inside the unfamiliarity of it all — and somehow, he goes along with it all only to land dead-middle inside an amusement park. luckily, it comes with downtime and the cameras placed down gives him seconds to breathe in and out, collect himself before he steps in front of the action cards and cues once more. “i can’t believe i’m here at an amusement park at the age of thirty.” a chuckle bursts over, and he stands with a mouth slightly agape. “let alone have someone film us running through an amusement park — we’re easily the oldest people here.” and he blames the cameras and the timing of school to minimize the traffic inside to nearly none. a line-free zone, leaving them to indulge like schoolchildren once again.

secret sibling ep 3&4 self para.

date: september 14th, 2020. character(s) involved: mentions of jaeyeol. (@fmdjaeyeol.) about: duri floats down the lazy river at the waterpark that duri and jaeyeol decided to visit after the art gallery. he’s really living his best life in that lazy river. trigger warnings: n/a, notes: i don’t know what this is but it came to me and just talking about his thoughts about filming and the pure bliss of relaxation in the lazy river before the end of year chaos that’s brewing schedule wise. this was meant to be done yesterday but then i had a stomach episode so it didn’t happen. word count: 718.

so far, this has probably been duri’s favorite filming. sure, it was only the second time actually filming, but it really was a lot of fun. they got assigned to do one of his all time favorite things, which was go to an art gallery. most people would find such a thing boring, but it’s something that duri really enjoys; something that he’s enjoyed for a long. he’s a music artist, not an artist that could use paints or any of those type of art materials. but, he could always appreciate it, create his own interoperation of an art piece.  there really was just something about an art gallery, wasn’t there?

however, he still couldn’t get the site of that goat sculpture out of his mind. it was creepy in a way; he still couldn’t but his finger on why, but it really caused a reaction out of him, and even jaeyeol. it was something that he really couldn’t help, but it was probably something that would a cause for entertainment for secret sibling; something people would enjoy. maybe, just maybe, they’d like to go see the sculpture for themselves, just to see if they’d react the same way, and maybe hide behind someone short. did duri really hide his tall, muscular body behind jaeyeol? yes, indeed he did, simply because he thought it was easier that way. he truly acted as if he was going through a haunted house, instead of an art gallery with a freaky sculpture. 

nonetheless, he had tried his best to get those thoughts out of his head, being distracted by the splish-splashing that him and jaeyeol had been doing that afternoon after the eventful morning at the art gallery. it really was a fun time, something that the producers seemed to be enjoying from the two. the two coming together, seemed to be something that was rather good; at least, duri thought so, and he felt like he’s got himself a new friend. he felt like this filming had seemingly made it known; at least, he had hoped so. nonetheless, he wouldn’t dwell on his hope, even if it will be sitting in his heart. 

now, the two were upon the lazy river in tubes, truly just floating and relaxing. the cameras probably weren’t really on, besides for getting a few shots of them floating down the lazy river; they’d always figure out what to do with such shots, they knew what they were doing. his eyes had been closed as he was simply relaxing, enjoying himself. however, in much duri fashion, his eyes would still peak a bit to make sure jaeyeol was doing okay, before closing again. he was always just a bit of a worrier, and liked to make sure everyone was okay - it had always been in his nature, hadn’t it? nonetheless, he went back to simply just relaxing. 

his legs were very much chilling in the water, which had started to feel warm after a while of being in the pool - he was just looking forward to a possible hot tub occurring, just due to the fact that he gets cold easily; it was the way he had always been. however, going down that lazy river, he was able to ignore it, considering other thoughts had entered his head.

he had worries about all the stuff that was coming up, at least schedule wise. he had to finish filming masterchef korea celebrity, promotions for obsession, finish recording his album, filming the music video, do the jacket shooting, then promoting that; not to mention, doing another ost, the release of his cameo in said drama, among anything else that was going to be thrown his way. he was lucky that he continues to get all of this stuff, but it’s something that still fills him with worry. would people like his next album? would he do well? would he have enough rest to do everything that was upcoming? it was silly worries. but, they were worries nonetheless. his mind, however, would continue to race for the time being; something that couldn’t be helped. 

however, his thoughts would clear when his tube bumped into jaeyeol, a large laugh leaving his lips upon it happening. “ah, should be start doing bumper tubes?” he jokes, head shaking a bit.

    duri was rather excited for the pre-chuseok meeting dinner that the whole cast of secret sibling was having. it was really just an excuse for duri to talk to more people, something that he couldn’t help but to enjoy, to say the least. plus, a lot the members of knight were apart of knight, which was just another reason to be excited; even if he had just recently seen them, especially for practices due to their upcoming knight comeback. his eyes looked around the room full of pairs, before he spots heesung. of course, duri, being duri, comes happily up to him. “heesungie!” he said, giggling softly. “are you having fun?”

secret sibling ep 4 interview.

did you learn anything new about your sibling today? if so, what did you learn? if not, what would you like to learn about them?

“i think i got to learn more about jaeyeol’s personality this time around! things were definitely a lot more comfortable, so it was really easy just talking. it was easy before, but it seemed even easier now because we already spent a lot of time together!” he said, his smile growing bigger. “next time, i think i’d like to learn more of his favorite things!”

what was the most memorable part of the day you spent with your sibling?

“i think going to the water park was the most memorable part of my day with jaeyeol! it was a lot of fun going on all of the slides together. splashing in the water was a lot of fun too!” he said, giggling softly. it was much like a kid, but he couldn’t help himself - it was fun. “even just cruising down the lazy river was a lot of fun!” he said with a nod. however, there was an obvious, slight cringe. “how could i forget the goat sculpture that we saw at the art gallery?”  he added on. however, he giggled again as he cringed a little more. 

is there anything you didn’t get to do that you might want to come back and do with your sibling off-camera some time? was there anything you did do that you’d want to come back and visit/do again some other time?

he thinks upon it for a bit, before finally figuring out something that he’d like to do that they didn’t do whilst there. “i’d like for us to come back and do a food tour! we had a really nice lunch and dinner with the staff at two local restaurants! so, i’d really like to get to see some more of the local food that cheonan has to offer!” he says. “i’d also really like to do the waterpark again! that was so much!” he giggled for the a thousandth time that interview.

you’ll need to buy your sibling a gift before the next time you meet at the full cast dinner. what do you think you’ll get them?

this one was a bit hard, as he wasn’t entirely sure what he’d get jaeyeol, to be quite honest. he’d probably get him a few different things, considering the fact that duri just isn’t good at picking just one present, to say the least. “i think i’d like to buy jaeyeol an entire complete outfit, with shoes and a coat as well! winter is coming, so i want to make sure he’s nice and warm!” he said, with a soft giggle. “i think i’ll definitely get him something else, but i don’t want to give away too much!”

       in much of duri fashion, he was over by the food, checking up on it, and making sure it was warm. there was no excuse for him to do it, really; that was the staff’s job. but, it probably gave them good excuse for content, and it was better for duri currently, as he didn’t feel like he was suffocating in the room that everyone was lingering around it. sure, it’s a massive apartment, but duri couldn’t help his claustrophobia. nonetheless, he was still doing such a thing, making sure everything was good for when people were hungry. truly, duri’s much like a grandmother in that regard. he looks up, upon hearing someone else, a wide smile against his lips. “ah, hyoyeon!” he greets, his smile growing wider. “are you being sure to eat well? eat a lot!”

secret sibling ep 3 interview.

       duri was excited to hear the fact that they were going on a trip for their next portion of secret sibling. he never got to do much traveling, unless it was for work, and even then, he didn’t get to spend much time doing activities. sure, this was technically work. but, jaeyeol and himself got to spend time doing activities together while they’re in cheonan. he was sure they were going to have a lot of fun and have things planned out that they both quite enjoy. nonetheless, he was looking forward to getting the trip, as it would almost be a bit of a vacation from his hectic schedule. but, he, of course, again would miss kai and the dogs, even though it would be a short trip lasting only a day; it was something that he couldn’t help. nonetheless, he sat down for the interview, ready to go. 

what kinds of places do you want to visit in the city/county you’ve been assigned?

“i already went searching around for places that jaeyeol and i can go, and i’d really like to visit the tedin water park! it looks like it would be a lot of fun for us to do! plus... i really enjoy water parks!” he said, a giggle leaving his lips that he really couldn’t help. he would look forward to the other things, but he was really hoping they’d get to go to the water park, if it was something that jaeyeol would agree upon, of course. “i’d really like to go to some local restaurants and taste their food as well! that would be really nice!” he spoke, his smile growing as he nodded his head. “it really seems like they have a lot of fun possible things for us to do!”

are you the type of person who prefers day trips around a city, or is a night in like last filming more comfortable for you?

“i think i’m a person who enjoys both!” he said. however, he was a bigger fan of the day trips around a city, since it meant that he got to go home later after everything was finished up. but, both of them were still fun, and he had a lot of fun during their last secret sibling filming. “getting to take a trip to go to a city and see a lot of things, do a lot of fun things while in the city! i really like it a lot!” he said, a soft giggle leaving his lips. “but, i also enjoy getting to have a night in as well! i think i’m one of those people that can really appreciate doing both with friends!”

 If you could go anywhere in the world outside of Korea with your sibling, where would you want to go?

now, this one was a hard one to answer. he wasn’t entirely sure what to answer for the question, which was why he didn’t answer it right off the bat, like he had for the other two questions. where would he want to go outside of korea with his sibling if he could? he thinks about it for a minute, before finally answering. “i think new york city or somewhere in japan!” he said, nodding his head with a big smile. “new york city is just a really cool city, i really like it a lot!” he said, a soft giggle leaving his lips. perhaps he was answering it because that’s where kai is from and he’d be able to go see the kwon sisters with jaeyeol, as well as baby yunho. “i also choose somewhere in japan because i know japanese, so we’d be able to easily get around wherever we go! plus, i just enjoy a lot of the cities in japan!”
