btw I finally finished season 2 of Agents of SHIELD last weekend!  here I am four and a half years late to this party with THOUGHTS.
I can't believe I stopped just short of getting to meet Bobbi Morse last time.  I love her so much.  She means the world to me.  I was relieved of some of the pressure of her perilous situation/wondering if she was going to die because I knew they had been trying her & Hunter in a spinoff so I figured they would survive but still, I was so invested.
Speaking of Hunter, I wound up really liking him, but I love that his entire thing is that he exudes untrustworthiness, so every time he goes undercover, the basis of his story is "will sell everyone he knows to satan for the right price".
I hope Mack & Fitz's relationship gets explored more in the future.  Mack was a difficult character for me to get into, even though I could get where he was coming from, but his connection with Fitz and the question of trust between them was interesting.  (He also deserves some backstory!!!)
But as far as Fitz's relationships are concerned, we gotta talk about Simmons!  Those two have such a weird and fascinating dynamic.  They had to pull apart to be able to get closer, and there was a really cool moment towards the end of the season, when they were still on the rocks, where the degree to which they were angry with each other was conveyed by the fact that they called each other by first names, in public?  These kids... [shakes head fondly]
Pretty much everything Ward did this season was disturbing.  Which is fine from a storytelling standpoint, I just would like to stand between him and every member of the team and protect them like "don't talk to her, don't even look at her".
Serious question: did Agent 33 ever know that he got "closure" with his family by literally murdering them?
Alright alright let's talk about Daisy Skye Daisy WHATEVER I love her I love her.  Kyle MacLachlan and Dichen Lachman absolutely killed it (pun intended?) as her parents like even after realizing how messed up they both were, they were still incredible to watch.
I do feel like the resolution for Cal's character was a bit lacking something for me.  Freeing him from the painful memories of his past seems like a nice idea, but it's weird to me how readily we throw around the idea of using T.A.H.I.T.I. after the mess it caused previously (are we supposed to believe that without the influence of alien DNA, opening up someone's brain and rewriting their memories is a painless and foolproof process???) and it just feels like a cop-out from the consequences, both positive and negative, of his involvement with the Inhumans.
...who were also a little underdeveloped?  There were SO MANY THINGS going on at the tail end of this season.  I wish we could have seen more of the society & community at Afterlife that Jiaying was so desperate to protect.  Maybe we'll explore them more in the future-- especially with Raina's prediction that Skye/Daisy will lead them-- but the season ended with bland-ass Lincoln as the only friendly face to the Inhumans.
This is all minor complaints, though.  On the whole I really liked this season and I'm excited to start s3 & find out about the freaky ocean rock that ate Jemma!  (True story, after that scene I just started laughing and my roommate was like, "are you ok" and idk when it's midnight and you've just watched 5 crazy episodes in a row and in the final scene of the season a giant blob pops out and eats somebody you just have to laugh.  There's nothing else for it.)
Ultimately, I think the award for MVP and just about everything else you can think of has got to go to Melinda May, AS ALWAYS.  She had some incredible moments this season, from developing a strong relationship     with Skye to finally confronting her trauma and I cannot wait to see what she does next.
also in case ANYONE IS WONDERING
Daisy “Skye” Johnson is my girlfriend & I love her.
