Previous Anon here: Amoneki allegory! Kaneki struggles with new cravings he sees as monstrous, and feels like he doesn't belong anywhere. Amon was raised by a priest who preys on children; he becomes a cop who fights against 'evil.' Then he meets this young man, who clearly wants him (NOM!) but doesn't mean him harm. For the first time, Kaneki feels like being a half-ghoul could be good if this man accepts him, and wow, yeah, Amon REALLY wants to see him again actually... Mutual bi awakening? 8)

I've definitely said this before and I'll say it again but Amon totally fell harder, the sheer amount that his character was shaken by his encounters with Kaneki, no matter how few, cannot be understated (I almost found it funny, when even well into :re he was still remembering the same fights with Kaneki, over and over), bro probably thinks he's normal about it like "Yeah of Course I want to see this ghoul again and talk with him about how his worldview has fundamentally changed the worldviews that I have stubbornly held onto for basically my entire life" but if you told Anyone else the details (who wouldn't get his ass for being affiliated (kinda) with a ghoul) they'd give him The Look. (read: He has a not-so thinly veiled crush the closet has suddenly turned to Glass), absolute awakening even if he doesn't realize it (although of course he has to conceal it because having a relationship with a ghoul or just not even hating them is bad and wrong in tg and all that, which could tie into your allegory actually maybe if you think about it)

And then of course Kaneki; in my hc he'd probably have had some Funny Bi Thoughts or at least considered that he Could be bi earlier on (he is not as blind as amon godbless) but Amon Totally contributed (unfortunately by then Kaneki was kinda busy with, you know, changing the world and saving his friends and everything) but it's not like he doesn't hold him to great importance either, with the way that he sincerely wants to save him and the way he painfully remembers him during Haise's time in :re (sidenote but Kaneki's line to Haise "Why do you want to know… about Eyepatch and… Koutarou Amon?" killed me for some reason something something implied closeness/importance even though they only met so many times Aughhhh)
