I think, if Marni survived, she would give Madeline a chance and try to be friends with her. I think Marni would let Madeline pick some of her clothes, dress her up, let Madeline pick the bows she wears. Maybe they even swap colors for a day, they'd stay up until midnight talking about their friends and what they're going to do tomorrow, they'd train together and laugh together and have lunch together. They'd be twinning but they're both their own people. Madeline would help give Marni the childhood she was robbed of and Marni would teach Madeline about this version of Elyos. They're best of friends and almost family to one another, not because they look alike, but because they can relate to each other and be there for one another when the other has lost so much. Let 16 year old girls be 16 year olds

Marni
Marin is known as ‘Marron’ in the Japanese version. I can understand the reason for the localisation change, ‘Marni’ is a much more recognisable name in the West, unfortunately it affects the intended meaning of her name. Marron is French for chestnut, specifically products made from chestnuts such as: crème de marrons (chestnut cream), marrons confits (candied chestnuts) and marrons glacés (glazed chestnuts). In Japan, the chestnut is associated with autumn. Around the world, chestnuts have been a staple part of people's diets from thousands of years, Due to the plentiful supply they have come to symbolise abundance and longevity. Longevity is not something Marni benefits from, she dies young at the hands of Zephia. The memory of her sacrifice to try and save Lady Veyle does have longevity, Veyle will remember her for the rest of her long existence.
In medieval Europe candied chestnuts were given as gifts by royalty. They were considered a valuable gift to receive. In the Bible, the chestnut was one of 13 foods offered to Baby Jesus, symbolises chastity (immaculate conception of Jesus), virtue and honesty. In Greek mythology children were believed to be found inside old chestnut trees. Artemis, the goddess of children, young animals, the hunt and the forest, turned herself into a chestnut tree to escape Zeus's lust, just like in Christianity, the chestnut is associated with chastity.
Marni is the romanticised image of a Victorian child of upper class status, her apple cheeks, her abundance of bow's and her corkscrew curls are designed to give her a vulnerable sweetness. John Everett Millais painted children with this kind of innocent and sweet appearance. She is dressed like a child and a  porcelain doll. In the Victorian era, a ‘porcelain complexion ‘ was considered the ideal standard of beauty. Dolls would be adorned with an armada of accessories to protect them from the sun, just like what a lady would wear to keep her skin from tanning. A doll prepared children for adulthood. Marni has her bonnet, gloves and her shield.
Marni represents the fragility of a porcelain doll. Delicate porcelain dolls were given to children as a declaration of wealth. To avoid such a fragile toy was a symbol of wealth but so was the statement that the parents could afford to endlessly repair or replace the doll. Marni is the doll who can be replaced if she is damaged. She is also the plaything of Zephia and Sombron, who can manipulate her with praise to do what they want.
On her head is an elaborately decorated fanchon with frills, bows and pleats. Her dress is an armoured and fabric variant of a ruffle dress, once again decorated with feminine designs such as bows and hearts. Her leg armour and sabatons mirror the rest of her design. Pink is used as it is the colour associated with little girls.

Technically, the new DLC didn't say one-sided Marni x Mauvier is canon
But I'm definitely going to be thinking it.

Battle Quotes of the Elusians
Ivy
 “Pathetic!”
 “There is no escape!”
 “Loathsome!”
 “Enough!”
 “For Elusia!”
 “I will atone!”
 “Unforgivable.”
 “Whew.”
 “Rest now.”
 “Nothing left of you.”
 Hortensia
 “Don't mess with the princess!”
 “ My time to shine!”
 “Now you've done it!”
 “I want my life back!”
 “For Elusia!”
 “Cuteness triumphs!”
 “Looks like I win!”
 *giggle*
 “No apologies.”
 “I'm unbeatable.”
Just like the other royal siblings, the sisters share a quote dedicating their victory to their kingdom. They both have quotes which reference their circumstances. Ivy believes that she needs to atone for the death of Morion and her inability to stop her father, “I will atone!” this is something she hopes to be able to do by stopping Sombron. Hortensia wants to go back to the Academy or to Elusia Castle and continue the life she left behind , “I want my life back!” is a statement of her longing for everything to go back to how it was.
Most of Ivy's quotes refer to her enemy and their inability rather than her battle prowess, on the other hand, Hortensia's quotes focus on herself. This echoes their personalities, Hortensia is cheerful and extroverted while Ivy is melancholy and introverted. In general Ivy has a serious personality (“whew!“) and Hortensia is a little more lighthearted (*giggle*).
Zelkov
“Beneath contempt."
"Agonie."
"Incinération."
"L'inhumation."
"Sleep well."
"I will not *dig* this *grave.*"
"Such ephemeral life."
"This is *busy* work."
"My *passion* sustains me."
Kagetsu
"Even mighty ones fall."
"Precision and power."
"We could have been friends."
"Have at you!"
"Victory is mine."
"I am sorry."
"Whew."
"Rest in pieces."
"Unfortunate."
"One less foe."
There is a theme of retainers sharing a battle quote with their liege. This is not the case with Zelkov, due to his relationship with Ivy relating to duty and purpose rather than an emotional connection. Kagetsu wants an emotional connection and wants to be friends with Ivy, therefore he shares her expression of ‘whew”
Kagetsu’s  battle quotes references his personality and interests. He wants to find strong opponents to battle and test his skill and he desires friendship. He doesn't criticise or insult his foes. He is apologetic, believes the death is unfortunate and even states that “even mighty ones fall.“ On the other hand Zelkov's battle quotes references the process of death and the passion he has for the hobbies and work that provide him with purpose. He mentions that life is short but he is not ready to die, his quotes relate to his fear of dying without purpose.
Zelkov's speaks French and I believe it is for two reasons. The first reason is that French was a supralocal language in the Middle Ages, if two people could not speak each other's languages then it was likely they could both speak French to communicate. French is also a language that had managed to travel throughout the world in the Middle Ages. The second reason is the difference in language displays his emotional distance from Ivy. Kagetsu wants to relate so he makes the effort to speak in the native language despite having a different mother tongue. Zelkov has no desire to form a special bond outside of his duties therefore he speaks French.
Rosado
"Cute and strong!"
"Are you ready?"
"Give it up."
"I've had enough!"
"Victory pose!"
"What you think?"
"I've almost broke a sweat."
"Sorry."
"So unpleasant."
Goldmary
"What's the point of you?"
"Don't make me angry."
"So sorry."
"You can die now!"
"Sorry if that was too much."
"Perfection."
"I could use a hot spring."
"I'm too good."
"I will never fail."
The retainers do not share a quote with Hortensia, perhaps they are more focussed on themselves and their appearance to appreciate each other. Both Goldmary and Rosado apologise, amidst  the bravado they are able to display some humanity. They share the focus on appearance and performance with Hortensia, Goldmary uses her swagger to display her confidence.
Lindon
"Don't you feel foolish?"
"Begin the experiment!"
"Target sighted. Attack!"
"Let's see what happens."
"The experiment was a success."
"Very intriguing results."
"I've must gather more data."
"You put up a good fight."
"Now for my next experiment."
"Very well."
Lindon's quotes focus on battle as a learning experience. He tries out an attack and then considers the result. He is very polite and gives his foe either negative, ("Don't you feel foolish?"), or positive, ("You put up a good fight."), feedback.
Anna
"A little product demo."
"Slashing more than prices!"
"No window shoppers!"
"One strike, half off!"
"Thanks for the business."
"Thank you."
"Come again."
"All in a day's work."
"I'm pretty tough, you know."
Anna's quotes focus on her family's trade as merchants. She treats her foe like a customer. Only one quotes deviates from this theme and that is how defeating how strong she is despite her age.
Griss
"Allow me!"
"Rejoice!"
"This is gonna hurt!"
"I'll show you pain!"
"The Hounds send their regards."
"How was that?"
"I almost envy you."
"Where's my reward?"
"Rude."
Zephia
"No quarter."
"You've been naughty!"
"That's enough out of you."
"Want a reward? Here it is!"
"The Hounds are victorious!"
"Finished already?"
"Aww... did I break you?"
"You poor thing."
"If only you'd stayed out of my way."
Marni
"Hahahaha!"
"No more games!"
"Sorry!"
"Can I kill you now?"
"You can praise me now."
"That's what the Four Hounds will do to you."
"You're expendable."
"Loser."
"Arn't I amazing?"
Mauvier
"Forgive me!"
"I atone for my past."
"You will have nothing!"
"This is my redemption."
"I require no praise."
"I have dispense with doubt."
"I act as her knight."
"I believe I'm in the right."
"Have I made a difference?"
The first common feature of their quotes is reward and praise. Zephia, as mother and leader of the Hounds, is the one delivering the punishment. Griss and Marni desire rewards and praise whereas Mauvier does not. Zephia, Marni and Griss all mention being members of the Hounds while Mauvier mentions his loyalty as a knight of Veyle. Griss and Marni express delight at killing people while Zephia talks to her enemy and disciplines them like they are wayward children while Mauvier expresses no pleasure in performing his duties and only hopes for redemption.
