Can anyone who's ever been to Barcelona tell me what's the best time of the year to go there?! I'm going to BCN with my family on the last week of July and i keep seeing people on the internet say that July is a great month to go there despite the crowds of turists and everything. Oh well. Unfortunately i won't be able to catch any Barça matches when I'm in town bcs La Liga will still be on pause by then but I'll just go back to the city some other day to watch a match ig :( I might still go to Ciutat Esportiva on one of those days and see if i can spot the boys hahahaha

FC Barcelona terminates misfit Brazilian Gustavo Maia's contract by mutual consent FC Barcelona has confirmed that they reached a mutual agreement to terminate the contract of Brazilian player Gustavo Maia, who was not fitting in with the team. "FC Barcelona has reached an agreement with Gustavo Maia for the player's dismissal. The Brazilian, who had a contract until June 30, 2025, puts an end to three seasons as a blaugrana ," began a statement published on the club's official Spanish language website early Monday morning. "The player will continue his career at Brazilian side Vila Nova FC. The Club publicly expresses its gratitude to Gustavo Maia, and wishes him luck and success in the future," added the Catalans. In 2020, FC Barcelona signed Gustavo Maia from Sao Paulo FC in a deal that was considered puzzling.  This transfer was part of the questionable decisions made during the tenure of former Barca president, Josep Bartomeu.  According to Ferran Reverter, the ex-CEO who served under Bartomeu's successor Joan Laporta, the club was left in a financially precarious situation, often described as "technically bankrupt." Bartomeu had a tendency to overspend on player acquisitions, and the €4.5 million ($5 million) agreement for Maia raised eyebrows at the time due to its perceived excessive nature. Following the questionable acquisition of Gustavo Maia, FC Barcelona faced another similar situation with Matheus Fernandes, a relatively unknown Brazilian player.  Bartomeu approved a significant fee of €7 million ($7.5 million), with an additional €3 million ($3.3 million) in add-ons, to bring Fernandes to the club. Unfortunately, like Maia, Fernandes turned out to be a flop and left the club in June 2021 without even making a single appearance for the first team. Adding to the club's financial burdens, Barcelona was ordered to pay Fernandes €8.5 million ($9.4 million) in damages for unfair dismissal, as reported by El Espanol.  The situation was compounded by the fact that players like Ronald Araujo and Pedri were purchased for similar fees and have proven to be excellent investments, becoming two of the best players in their respective positions. Had Maia demonstrated similar potential, he might have had the chance to develop with Barcelona Atletic before joining the senior squad under managers like Ronald Koeman and later Xavi Hernandez.  However, the 22-year-old only managed a meager 283 minutes over eight appearances for the reserve team before being loaned back to Brazil, initially to Internacional and then to Valencia's reserves, where the option to purchase him was not exercised after his temporary stint at Mestalla. With a contract until 2025, Maia's situation posed a financial burden for cash-strapped Barcelona, as they struggled to find a suitable club for the winger. Ultimately, Maia showed integrity and agreed to terminate his contract in order to revive his career at Vila Nova. In contrast, under Laporta's leadership, Barcelona has made more prudent decisions when acquiring young Brazilians.
