honestly i'm convinced if var & cass' villain arcs were reversed — say cap was trapped, and cass felt rebuffed and slighted by what felt like callous indifference of a sheltered royal and her overreactive advisor; and say varian felt overlooked and overshadowed by a princess who manages to be nosy and condescending at the same time (even if unintentional) — people would still sing high praises for poor var, while ignoring or dismissing cass' plight/arc. you know why. 🚬
