I’m so glad only like two people that follow me know anything about Final Fantasy because I can say FFV had a better antagonist than FFIV and not get cancelled.

#everyone says exdeath is a shit villain in ffv because he doesn't have any development but ffiv's villain can't even be called a character #so spoilers for anyone who's bothering to read this and actually cares but #golbez isn't the villain of ffiv so i don't even get why people compare him to exdeath #he's the antagonistic force of the game up until zeromus is mentioned which sure is the end of the game so he's the villain for a while #but he's ultimately not the villain #not even in a sense like kuja from ffix where the true final boss comes out of nowhere because kuja was still the antagonist until the end #he just gets redeemed with his death #golbez is just like 'oh i didn't actually mean it i was under control' #and that's stupid #you don't even get a real fight against him because of that #just like two scripted battles #even if exdeath was evil just for the sake of being evil he stuck to that philosophy #exdeath has his own set of plot twists that are honestly way cooler than golbez going 'it's okay i wasn't actually evil' #i mean i like golbez's later incarnations where he's still shown to be at odds with cecil but not evil #and both he and cecil want him to be redeemed but golbez doesn't think he can #but you barely get any of that in ffiv the only stuff with golbez that was at all satisfying was at the very end #also exdeath's theme has evil laughter in it
